HELP please... on Alpine CHA-S634 garbeld noises from left speaker

If the changer sounds normal with another head unit then it most likely is still a cable issue.

I'm so confused now as to what you've swapped out and haven't. From what I can tell the main cable running from the head unit to the trunk hasn't been elimated as the problem and neither has the ACUALP cable?

Have you checked all the cable connections to make sure all of the plugs are firmly seated in their proper receptacles and also checked any visible lenghts of cabling for obvious tears or rips?

hugh

let me try to clarify. i have eliminated the cable from the headunit of my car as well as my headunit. i have done this by putting back in the stock CD changer and all works just fine. no issues except for the skipping and stopping on bumps or uneven pavement.

i have put this entire setup from the ACUALP cable (which i believe swaps the #2 and #4 wires) and bought replaced the PIE mbus to Ai-net cable with the new Alpine KCA-130b cable. used the same alpine long cable that came with the changer, and put this all into my friends 94 car with a stock headunit and his cable that ran from the headunit to the trunk. Still same garbled problem. (so i believe this confirms that i have eliminated for sure the headunit and cable from the headunit from my car.

the only wires i have not replaced thus far is the long Alpine cable that connects to the changer as well as the ACUALP cable (since i cant find any place that sells this part)

i have brought this alpine cd changer to an car audio specialist store, they only had alpine headunits, no hondas in the back to test against. they plugged the changer into the long alpine cable that it comes with (same one i used for my car) and then plugged it directly into the headunit. all worked just fine with balance left and right. he had to change the #2 setting on the changer back to #1 (located under the magazine tray) so it would again for the alpine headunit. So this at least confirms the cd changer works fully for the #1 setting but not for the #2 setting.

Also i for grins i had take the ACUALP cable out of the equation as well to see what would happen but it sounds the same. (garbled)

i hope that helps clarify this a bit. i do appreciate the time still. but i seemed to have exhaust most of the options thus far.

so 3 things it still could be the issue, in my opinion.

-the long Alpine cable that connects to the cd changer (the one alpine supplies with all changers)
-or the ACUALP cable
-or the changer itself in mode #2.

Thanks for helping my brain to not explode! :)
The colon is more than enough for me to deal with this month.

Those 3 issues seem easy enough to tackle. Good luck and hope you're trouble free again soon.
If taking the ACUALP cable out of the loop resulted in the same sound as with it in, I'd say that might be a good place to start.

thanks hugh, appreciate it!

The only thing I can think of left is a bad CD changer, or somehow the ACUALP adaptor was miswired and didn't make the #2, #4 pin swap and is a straight through plug. This could be why when used with or without the ACUALP the sound remained the same. I'll go male the #2 and #4 pin swap on one of my spare Alpine M-Bus cables (I have a bunch of them) and you can try that one. It is long enough that you can run it from the changer outside the car to the headunit directly for a test. If that doesn't work it is the changer.

Acutually, if you want to test what the ACUALP plug is doing get out your multimeter and test for continuity. It should be obvious which pins are connected to each other with that test.

hey Chris

are you sure it is not too much trouble to make one of the cables up for me? thanks man. FYI, the current ACUALP is only about 12 inches long. which is perfect length..defiantely dont need it much longer than that. Especially since the other alpine cable i have that came with the changer is about 30 feet long  contact me via PM or my email that you have and we can work out the details for mailing and reimbursement.

sorry, i dont have a multimeter to check any connectivity at this time. i might be able to bring it to radio shack and see if they can test.

thanks
