All,

Just moved from MN to Broomfield, CO and looking for a place to take my NSX to get timing belt changed (10 years old). Even though I have less than 10K miles on my last belt its old and I don't want to take the chance having it break due to age.

Any recommendations on where to get my NSX timing belt changed?

1991 Red NSX with 45k miles.

Thanks,
Eric

Last I heard, Flatirons Acura in Boulder, and Chris, their mechanic, was the top recommendation in the greater Denver area. (It's also closer to Broomfield than the two dealers in Denver.)

You can also try Paul at Pike's Peak Acura (bit of a drive from Denver though). Some of the guys recommended them, but since I just moved here myself, I have no prior experience. Seemed like a cool guy though when I went to get my VIN verified to get my registration taken care of the other day.

I'm in Denver and recently had my car serviced at Mile Hi by Chris Whalen. I had also heard they are the go-to servicing place for things you can't do yourself. My car had had most of its service done there over the years for the earlier owners. I had scheduled a valve adjustment- chris looked up the car and phoned me first thing to let me know he had done the valves several years ago and, based on mileage, they did not need to be done again. Saved me some money there. I had new plugs put on,the abs exercised, and an alignment done. They did a great job, the car was returned clean- including the engine compartment and around the ABS unit they had worked on.

Hey, Welcome to Broomfield...I'm not too far away over in Erie. Chris Wayland is the Master NSX Performance specialist at Flatirons Acura, 303-402-5146. Swing by and meet Chris-I think you'll like him.

I've just picked up a 1993 Red/Black from MN--and will be taking it in to have Chris do a once over on it.

Would be happy to connect with you and there are several members around...we usually get with the other groups and head to either PPIR down in the Springs or go over to High Plains Raceway to have a few giggles.

Ping me for more details, but Chris should be able to help you out.

BTW--I have heard from several X'ers that Timing Belt issues/replacements are being looked at as almost 10 year deals...Chris and his team can explain more in detail.

Add my props to Chris' growing list. Since I bought my NA2 a year ago, he's given me lots of free advice on things I never could have found on my own (try diagnosing an intermittant failure of the Master Relay!). Also did the alignment to the "street" car specs after I put on the Bilstiens in Feb. Probably one of the most knowledgable NSX guys in our region if not the country. A great assett.

All,

Thank you for all the people that responded!

I just got my '91 Red NSX shipped in this weekend and very happy it got shipped without any scratches or dings!

I will take the car up to Flatirons (Chris) as I am having Check Engine lights keep coming on after ~20-30 minutes driving. I shut the car off and the light doesn't stay on next time I start it up.

I have had VTEC spool valve issues in the past but had one side of the spool valves replaced.

Looking forward to meeting you other guys/gals out there with NSX's soon.

BTW: I race in NASA and PCA racing with a Spec 944 (#83) so if you see me at HPR at DE's or Races stop by and say hello!

Or just shoot me a text or email to connect up!

Eric-

Welcome to Colorado! Your CE light sounds like a bad O2 sensor. Fairly easy fix. I'm sure Chris will take care of you.

Honcho,

DING DING DING... You win, Chris confirmed it last night the light was O2 Sensor, but since putting in "fresh" gas, mine tank of gas was almost a year old, have not had a light come on. He suspects the condition of the gas was the problem.

Met Chris and very impressed the fact the dealership had 4 NSX's being serviced yesterday!!!!

Always nice to see another NSX in the shop when you never see one to begin with!

Since you are up north I would say Flatirons Acura. (I hear they have lots of experience with NSX)
Pikes Peak can do it also but they are in Co. Springs.
