New owner in West Tokyo

Hey Japan Primers,

I have a thread in the New Owners forum, but I figured I'd post here to see if anyone was local. I just bought NSX #3 from a dealer in Saitama. The yen rate has been really spectacular here lately, and I'm going to be here for another 2 years, so I thought it best to get into the market here instead of waiting to return to the US.

It's a Nov 1990 Berlina Black on Black car with '94-'97 OE wheels and exhaust and 83000km on the clock. Currently having the shop do a timing belt/water pump change as part of the deal and should be picking it up sometime this week.

If there are any other NSXers around, it would be cool to get together for drives or a meet at one of the parking areas here eventually. I'm just north of Hachioji near Yokota AB.

I've got a thread in the new owner's section, so I'll just parallel it here.

Got the car all situated this past week and was able to sneak it out on Saturday since the rain quit for a day.

Took the car up to Lake Okutama to run the Skyline. Ran into a Lotus Europa and an Alfa Romeo club at the lake PA and got a few good pics up at the overlook.

They are similar. For the longest time I was swearing off getting a car here because I felt that I could get just as good of a car for cheaper, with records, back in the US when I returned...but I got extended for the second time here now. Looking at the prices climbing in the US within the last year and the plummeting yen rate here, I think I ended up getting into this car for cheaper than it would have run me if it were a car back in the US. I was afraid that if I waited out the 2 years and bought a US car, they would have appreciated to the point where I couldn't purchase one.

Yes, it will be legal to enter the US under exemption this coming November. My (now my brother's) 1989 Skyline GT-R is already enroute to the US and should land in late July.
