OK here it is. Mark your calendars for a great caravan to a great event. You are not going to want to miss out on this glorious 2-day caravan from the Bay Area to Palm Springs. You will be telling your grandchildren about this one.

First Day – 339 miles
Tuesday, October 6th

https://goo.gl/maps/JHih1

Starting point is 125 Bernal Rd in San Jose. There is a Starbucks here and plenty of parking. Be ready to roll out at 8am sharp. From there we head due south to Hollister where we catch Hwy 25 to San Miguel. From there we head east to Parkfield (crossing the San Andreas Fault Line a few times) for lunch at the only place in town the Parkfield Cafe http://www.yelp.com/biz/parkfield-inn-and-cafe-parkfield-2 (170 miles -2 stops). Very scenic and exciting winding 2-lane roads with very little traffic.

After a 60 min. lunch break, we head south to the James Dean Memorial site in Cholame, (break) then continue south on Bitterwater Road to Highway 58 and the Carrizo Plain, then south onto Hwy 33 with a a break (fuel) in Taft and then we continue south through maricopa and onto Hwy 166 where we continue south through the Los Padres National Forest and on to our final destination for the night, The Blue Iguana Inn http://www.blueiguanainn.com/ in Ojai.

Second Day – 334 miles
Wednesday, October 7th

https://goo.gl/maps/leyMa

Starting at 8am we head south on Hwy 33 out of the Ojai Valley heading directly for the Pacific Ocean. A quick shot across the 101 to the 34 south and on to Hwy 1 with a quick stop at Point Magu Missile Park http://www.air-and-space.com/Pt Mugu Missile Park.htm to see some of the cold war relics as well as an F-4S Phantom and F14-A Tomcat. Then back onto Hwy 1 where we shall enjoy the stunning views of the pacific ocean traveling past Point Magu State Park on our way to our first destination, Neptune’s Net (F&F lunch stop). It’s too early for lunch but perhaps a snack or late breakfast. Then we continue along the coast till we get to our first set of twisties for the day at Mulholland Hwy.

Eventually we find our way to the dreaded Los Angeles freeway system but you just can’t get anywhere without having to get on one of them. But no sweat it’s just a quick trip east on Hwy 118 over to Hwy 210 on to La Canada Flintridge were we begin the second set of twisties for the day on the Angeles Crest Hwy. Eventually we find our way to our lunch stop at the Newcomb’s Ranch www.newcombsranch.com

After lunch we continue to enjoy the twisties all the way to Hwy 138. We will cruise along 138 till we get to Old Mill Rd which will take us past Lake Gregory and lead us to our third set of twistes for the day on the Rim of the World Hwy. We will continue on this highway over to Lake Arrowhead for a rest break and photo ops. Then onto Big Bear where we can rest again and take more photos. Then we continue on our final stretch onto Hwy 247 through the Yucca valley and then past the Morongo Valley taking us through part of the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve and eventually onto Hwy 10 and to our final destination the event hotel, Aqua Caliente Casino Resort Spa. Have a drink put up your feet and have memories that will last a life time.

Thank you to Solidol for his assistance with route planning.

LOL...........I think your Alzheimers is kicking in again. We actually did drive much of the 1st day route on our way to the Vegas NSXPO in 2010. It was a great route so I figured why mess with greatness. Here are a couple pics from that epic road trip to jar your memory a little..............

A great group of people

Lmao!!!

Waiting for more info on Sac caravan, or maybe meet the group on Day 2.

Btw- anyone down for some golf?

im in sac we have several people but the nsxpo website does not make sense its 250 for 1 person or 2? or is it 1 member 1 guest for 250? or is it 1 member 1 guest and 250 per person

I drove some of the 1st and 2nd day route yesterday. The roads through the Los padres National Forest were awesome and the scenery was great. The weather in Ventura/Santa Monica/Malibu was nice and we happened to pull over to enjoy some of the beach scene and saw a grey whale going by. Hera are a few pics I took along the way.

250 total. Guests included.

The early bird rate was $259 PER PERSON.

If anyone paid only $259 and thought that means you can bring a guest then you are mistaken. The event is sold out with the number of attendees capped at 250 including guests.

I guess I should've been more specific. I meant 250 seats total including guests. Not price per person. Not that it matters now.

Do you have waiting list in case people would drop off before event?

I was pretty sure that's what you meant but given the timing of your post I just wanted to make sure that nobody interpreted the other way and only signed up for one thinking they could include a guest.

We will be doing a wait list in a few weeks. We just want to finalize the registration for all those who signed up before we open up another wave of people contacting us.

Ok great. I've talked to few people already who want their names on the waiting list. I'm sure few spots will open up. Thanks.

We will give sufficient notice when the list will be opened up but judging by the way my phone has been going off round the clock since registration sold out I would anticipate a lengthy waiting list which will be first come, first served. We want to make sure the website is fully "cooperating" before doing that because all requests for wait list inclusion will be time stamped.

So if anyone intends to try to get on it, keep checking for when the list will open and mark the date AND time down because as with the main registration there were members "lining up" the minute registration opened.

And also remember - you must be an NSXCA member in order to get on the wait list.

Hey Guys,

Is this caravan going to happen? Shouldn't we meet or start making reservations?

Rich

yes I was thinking the same thing the other day. We need to get a roll call and start talking about reservations for the hotel in Ojai. If its just a small group we can all probably get a suite and share the cost. No matter what I'm doing the drive even if I'm alone but I'm pretty certain Roman is in.

I'm in SoCal and I'm thinking of going out to Palm Springs on Wed. the 7th. If your caravan is going to happen, I can join up with you in La Canada at the start of the Angeles Crest Highway. I'll keep monitoring this thread, and if I decide to go on the 7th. I'll let you know.

I'm back on 28th and was hoping maybe have mini-meet and/or discuss Ojaj reservations.

Dam! The 28th...........that's too bad. The Santana Row event this weekend is going to be a "don't miss" event. I heard from a reliable source yesterday there is a very good chance a Koenigsegg Agera will be there.

That would be a good time to get together and have lunch and discuss arrangements. If anyone is interested in meeting at Santa Row and having lunch at Maggianos let me know.
