FWIW:
Would you say that driving a Porsche 959 (if you don't know what it is, look it up) in the dirt in a similar manner is also sacrilegious?
If Yes - The 959 WON the Paris-Dakar Rally, one of the (if not the) longest and hardest offroad race in the world.

Pikes Peak would be a good start.
And to OP, thats the same thing as someone who would drag race, drift, autocross, circuit race there NSX, bet it handles really well in the dirt, but the suspension takes a beating.

I'm a firm believer in owner use choice, to each their own. Just something about the sound of all that gravel and dirt hitting up against the bottom of the car made me feel uneasy.
and Billy, yes the Paris Dakar is one of my favorite races. I wish there was more coverage. The Porsche 959, wasn't that back in the mid 80's? I'll be dating myself but wasn't Jackie Ickx one of the 959 drivers?
