Friendly gentlman saw me installing battery in my NSX this afternoon in the garage. We talked for the first time, he told me had a 91 NSX and now drives Ferrari 355, I have seen his Yellow 355 a few times in this neighborhood.

He then gave me a set of oem NSX drilled rotors in perfect condition. I am planning on installing it this weekend. Is it a easy DIY job? how much would it cost if I have a shop perform the installation for me?

These rotors felt light, probably less than 10lbs each, look like this:

Does anyone have pics of NSX with drilled oem rotors?

it would prolly cost about 60 bucks for most auto places to do, but dont quote me. it should take about a lunch break's worth of time to do.

i can recommend you to a local place that i go to get my NSX maintenence done all time time. PM me for info.

also just to let you know, drilled rotors dont work as well as Drilled&slotted.
but still better than blanks. you'll notice better bite right away, but they eat up pads like crazy.

so if you ever need pads. i got a grip of them here. ive got semi-metallics($90 F&R) and Ceramic pads($100 F&R). and if you want stink up the place i've got organic too...

i think ive seen that yellow 355 also.
i saw him near the Pacific Reef fishstore that i go to on brookhurst and garfield. did the 355 have black rims?

its one bad ass car. it looks small from the side, but wide as heck from the rear view.

Since nsxsupra lives in the same town as Autowave, the independent shop servicing the most NSXs in the whole L.A. area, I'm sure he knows where to take his car...

VERY easy job.. just need the right tool...

Impact screw driver... is the key.. there are two screws that hold the rotor down to the hub... you'll NEED that screw driver to get it out... like 20 bux..

aside from that the standard tool kit is no biggy...

seriously though.. it's a cake walk.

I just did front rotors and pads at the weekend. The impact driver is a must. You can get it at Sears. Also you will probably need two 8 mm bolts to screw into the jack screw holes to break the existing rotors loose.I’m assuming you have a good socket set and a torque wrench. It maybe overkill but I would recommend changing out the pads while you are at it. It’s easy to do while you are in there. Also when doing the fronts, turning the wheel all the way to the left when working on the left wheel and the opposite for the right wheel helps to get access to the caliper bolts.
IMHO this is the perfect DIY job. It’s not to hard and it will save you a chunk of change.
Once you have done it once you will never want to take it in for pads or rotors again.
Have a go! It’s fun. You will have a more intimate relationship with your car and if you get stuck you have the prime army to help you out. Start it on a Sat morning so you can take your time.

Regards,

Patrick
