Tanks were this price when I bought my first NSX, about 8-9 years ago. We're able to do the same price by making a large number of tanks.

We're also keeping things simple, with 2 finishes, a standard cap, no customization, etc. - Just a simple, quality, drop-in tank for all NSX's.

Has anyone mentioned the gauge of aluminum?

We're using 10-gauge aluminum plate (about 2.5mm thick).

Material thickness isn't the critical measurement, 10-gauge aluminum plate results in a bursting pressure in excess of 800psi (your coolant cap vents around 15-20psi).

More important considerations are the location, and the quality, of the welds.

We're working with a company that has produced thousands of tanks for different vehicles over the years, using dimensions from a new factory tank:

Can you comment on the strength of product v OEM?

The factory tank is made from two plastic halves, glued together at the middle using epoxy. I've seen several failures of the factory tank, sometimes due to age, or running hot.

Our tank is produced from thick aluminum plate, carefully assembled and welded into a solid part, and offered with minimal markup.

I kinda want a black one but can you switch out the caps?

Yes, it's a standard filler neck.
