Rear Spoiler

I was going to order a carbon fiber one from acura but they wouldnt sell me one saying it is not meant to be added on and I should contact the dealer to see if they could do anything for me. I looked all over for aftermarket ones and there seems to be none yet

This car is nothing like my Corvette...if I have an idea I can get advice from people who have already made the mod. I feel like I can get the OEM part via a collision shop but installation terrifies me. The side pieces will require drilling into a very expensive fender. I am hoping someone with more guts than me will chime in and show his/her results!

The factory spoiler is secured with clips and adhesive. The clip hole pattern is fairly complex, so it would be difficult to retrofit to a car not originally equipped for the spoiler. We have a mid-height spoiler now (see photo below) and a factory style spoiler in the works.

If you aren't already a member, we have a Facebook group for Second Generation NSX owners, where a lot of the information is being shared and discussed. Feel free to join by clicking here and clicking "Join Group". Proof of ownership is required.

For those of you that are new to NSX ownership, and have the NA2, Chris and SOS are great friends of owners, and a terrific resource of all things NSX, old and new. Any questions, email him, and you'll get your answers!!! I have no ownership, or vested interest in SOS, and Chris has no idea I'm posting this!!!! :)

I checked into all this before i bought mine with that option. Finding a car with rear decklid for me was a must and I really didn't care about all the other options as it's alot of fluff.
I wouldn't consider adding a spoiler on this car unless it was factory as it's quite complex.

I probably should have done similar due diligence! I know when purchasing Corvettes what features are must haves and what are not necessary. I have added spoilers to two of my Corvettes with no problem and I assumed this would be just as easy....apparently I was wrong!

They sell a ****ton of Corvettes a year and as a result the aftermarket is huge. The NSX ..not so much.

I was told by an NSX sales consultant that they had to send a prebuilt NSX back to the PMC to get a spoiler added for a customer to make the sale. He said there is extra support added to the fenders and deck lid to handle the additional downforce. So, it wasn’t something you can just add on with double sided tape. Just FYI on what was explained to me when I asked about adding missing upgrades. Also, the replica diecast would only be built to the original build spec.

Wow this sounds like total BS from the stillership !! just my 2 cents

hahahahahahaha. the spoiler is nonfunctional. its a cosmetic piece. thats straight from acura. they said the aerodynamics were engineered into the car sans wing.

however, you do have to drill into the fenders and decklid to install.

Lmao, I was going to ask what "downforce" was quoted by "NSX Specialist"....

I'm waiting for a non-apologetic spoiler that resembles the one on the GT3 race car.

The closest I've seen out there is the Liberty Walk one but seriously now:

That's a f****** wing. Looks like it might make it tricky to attach it in a way that doesn't prevent the trunk from opening though :p

I like the spoiler a lot, but when searching for a car, it seemed like most of the cars that had the spoiler were loaded up with tons of the overpriced CF packages, especially the exterior carbon fiber pkg, which was what, $9k......(no offense to anyone who has that pkg!) I was most concerned with color and interior color, CCB's, then as little carbon fiber as I could get away with, but I ended up with a car with a carbon fiber roof (expensive) and a carbon fiber engine cover, but I bought the car as the deal was too good to pass up and I didn't want to lose out on one..... I will miss the black spoiler, but life will go on. It looks fine to me without, and as I will likely never get it up to 190mph, not sure it will make that much difference.....
I thought the CF pkgs were grossly overpriced and added to Acura's overinflated pricing issues. a $150K car with $50k of carbon Fiber fluff is still a $150k car. If it was structural and decreased the weight of the car by 200lbs, then it would have some value I'd guess......

I have looked at the Liberty Walk and for my tastes is just too big. I am looking more for aesthetics and less for functionality. I am sure someone will build one with a balance of both.

Its nearly impossible to find an NSX with a spoiler without the other $40k in carbon options. If anyone knows the audi part number or where to get a spoiler for this car, please let me know. Ive called multiple dealerships and no one will even sell it..

Ditto, that is how it was explained to me on a couple of occasions. But it makes a nice place to dry your microfiber cloths.....

I found the parts online for the factory cf spoiler. Its about 4k. seriously wondering if I can double side tape stick it. I did that with my maserati years ago and I literally cannot pull it off. I would think it would work fine on the nsx as well.

Good idea with the double-side tape. To remove it from your Maserati, simply use a blow dryer and floss (not that you want to :)) .

we priced all the carbon bits after the fact and it was stupid expensive.

I am 100% sure it will be just fine. I just dont see how this wing needs to be bolt on..
