Anyone have a short shift kit on their NSX?
How do you like it? Is it much different than the stock shift?

I'm thinking of putting one on my '98 6spd.

Anyone suggestions for best short shift kit(s) on the market.
Who sells them?

Thanks

hi Larry --

A less expensive and reversible modification is to replace the factory shift knob with one of the ScienceofSpeed Rapid Shift Knobs that decreases shifter height to NSX-R spec. This knob is also the only aftermarket knob available that I am aware of that clips in to the factory shift boot (as well as the NSX-R carbon / mesh shift boot):

Here's a little write up on the install:

Hi Chris.

Took your advice and ordered the short shift knob from SoS.
I'll let you know how it goes.
I like the idea that if fits the NSX without those tiny bolt in side screws
that tend to loosen up like the one I have now.

Thanks

Chris, (SOS)

I bought the SOS mesh boot from another Prime member and it didn't include the unique clip on the base that allows a secure retainer for the NSX-R mesh shift boot.
I have the Billet 6061-T6 aluminum construction machine finished knob.

Is there any way I can get just the clip from SOS?

Thank you in advance,

Skyguy.

As you can see it's not right. (i have since removed the boot.)

In you Web page, you have a pix of the same knob with the same setup, however it isn't stretched out like mine? I think I need the "Clip."

Skyguy,

The picture you were referring to is from the na2 nsx-r. The nsx-r shift knob sits a bit lower than the normal nsx knob. There's nothing wrong with your setup.

Henry.

SoS's shift knob looks like a Sola knob to me -- a very high-quality piece. I had a '92 NSX in which I used a spherical Sola and bought the special insert that mated the knob to the shifter thread and clipped to the shift boot from Randy at RM Racing (I already had the knob with a different insert from another car). Don't know if RM Racing is still in business or sells these anymore but the knobs I'm talking about still show up under Accessories/Shift Knobs in the FAQ.
