short term Tires, what to do?

I am ordering wheels but my rear tires are already gone. I need to get new tires while I wait for my wheels.

Anyone have any thoughts on Bridgestone Potenza RE71's? I just need to use them for a few weeks while I wait on my other wheels and Tire rack has them for $104. (I would have to drive cautiously for a while)
My other choice is to put on 4 competition tires for a few weeks of driving and have some fun. But I am not sure how long they would last or which ones to get as there don't seem to be any street legal slicks that come in the OEM 16" front sizes. Anyone know what sizes I can use on the front 16's? What are the life span on these types of tires on the street?

If my wheels were to come in quickly then I would have a set of wheels set up for the track already to go.

The sizes available in the R compound tires for your 16/17s are not too good.

I used the RE71 before. It is a decent tire.

Why don't you see if an NSXer in your area would be willing to 'rent' their spare set? You never know...

Cheers,

But what sizes would work? 16"front 17' rear as there are no oem sizes available.

My tire guy recommended the RE71's and I almost KILLED MYSELF on them trying to drive them like the OEM's. Don't buy them! Just get the OEM tires. If you don't put many miles on them, you can always sell the wheel/tire package when your new wheels arrive.
