The Devil's Chariot

Amazing pick up, tasteful mods and holy parts pile up!! You dont mess around Shaan lol. So many rare parts acquired in so little time. Always loved black wheels on red nsx, definitely lives up to its nickname. Im subscribed for more!

So while im still messing with the car a bit, I still have the door panels off and basically most of my tabs on the door panel are in "ok" shape or snapped off in my hand while i took the panel off the first time. On of the pieces had actually snapped into 2 pieces. I see that Acura sells these for about $600 for both sides but thats a bit dear; saw a post on Prime that showed how to reinforce the door panels with a bit of "at home engineering". thanks JMChristopher (http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php/191461-JMC-s-Slow-build)

So $7 in 2-part epoxy, $3 in thin metal pipe hanging tape later here we are. Completely functional and repaired door card garnish things, ~$600 for OEM or ~$900 in carbon....or $10 in Home Depot supplies.

completed and both sides now back together. I am fairly pleased how this came together, i know this may not be the "perfect" way to do it but its a means to end. It works and im sure i can take of the door panels multiple times if needed in the future without all the tabs disintegrating.

Ive now got the car back on the lift to finalize some settings with the injector selection and noticed that my uni filter runs pretty dirty with the Downforce intake scoop, specifically in one spot. Im not sure if I should keep it or switch back to a normal paper filter. This is only after maybe 600 miles or so, probably less. I grabbed a Beck Arnely filter for $15 off ebay just in case i want to swap back, seems to be pretty good quality.

I have had the doors off the car for a bit now to do various maintenance items (regulators, clean tracks, replace vapor barrier, Spoon Mirrors). It has been probably 2-3 months ive been driving it without any door panels, during this time i thought Bose may restock the backorder OEM speakers but after speaking with Patty, she just doesnt know when that could be. So i just decided to redo my originals from @cmc140, they are untouched and still sounded "ok" but had some crackle and "tinny" qualities.

I chose to have @cmc140 refurb all the amps and since im pretty handy with the metal shims now ill just repair the 2 or 3 cracked tabs on my speaker housings and reinforce as ive done with the door panels. Chris has been really great and the bluetooth free OEM radio is awesome, it's ~1/3 the cost of Wilmans and looks 100% stock. Its great how handy some of the members here are! Everyday i still pinch myself when i look in the garage, still cant believe i have a NSX!!!!!

im hoping with fresh amps and fresh head unit everything will finally sound good again. Im not really picky with sound systems i suppose and the Bose stuff i have in my other cars has always been fine for me. New speakers from Bose (if/when they are available are about $500 all around)...The cmc140 repair is about 1/3 of that.

I really want some SOS billet door handles (anybody got some used?), my OEM door handles are fine and not cracked but seeing has I have some other SOS items in the interior those would really finish off the interior nicely. im hoping maybe there will be a sale soon

When i redid the seats i thought i may redo the door panels but for $250 more for the door panels it didnt make sense to me, but really the black gathered leather doesn't bother me at all and i could use the cash elsewhere. once I get the speakers and doors back on I dont really have much left on the wishlist besides a few black interior pieces (armrest, fuel door piece, passenger armrest and center speaker/bulkhead targa)

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Im ready to drive this thing instead bleed on it.

Very tactful indeed! I did something very similar on mine. Beats the hell out of oem replacement or carbon fiber. For a component that gets no visible exposure, I can't justify going that route since this home depot method solves the issue of weak tabs. Great job!

I like the "re-enforcing" of the door panels. I may need to do that next time i'm in there.

I've always been a fan of SOS, bought a handful of parts from them. Fun fact, I spent the weekend in Chandler AZ last weekend and didn't even stop by the shop, totally spaced on that.

If your a NSX guy make sure to stop by, Chris Willson (Proprietor) was kind enough to show me around and i got to look at his personal NSX. Just the amount of OEM stuff they stock is awesome, seeing so many NSX in one place is epic!

Chris has been with the nsx club for ever ...and I'm impressed with his longevity and success in a business that is littered with failure...

Injector Innovation update Part 2

Ok so the first 12-hole Denso 270cc injectors i tried popped up lean codes towards the end of a tank of gas (300+ miles). The car idled and ran fine but this worried me so after speaking with Charlie he thought to go up a size on the injectors because i have some performance modifications. The codes didnt pop up when i was accelerating just around town or normal 3rd gear, 50-60mph conditions.

P0171: Fuel System Too Lean (Bank 1)
P0174: Fuel System Too Lean (Bank 2)

The first time i cleared the codes (just pull the clock fuse under the hood) thinking it was just a freak occurrence or maybe something was left loose, the codes came back after another 150 miles or so. I promptly limped the car back home, took apart the airbox/throttle body and triple checked everything to make sure i was not having any air leaks to cause a lean code.
I arranged a new setup from Charlie to try.

So now we are on variation 2 of this modified injector setup. Now I am running Bosch 18-hole 315cc 14mm injectors with 11mm adapters into the fuel rail. These injectors seem to have solved the lean issue and because of the very fine atomizing of fuel from the 18-hole setup, this increase in flowrate does not seem to have any detrimental effect. These injectors spray in a cone pattern, the car idles and runs fine all the way to redline, so far no complaints after 300 or so miles. From what i understand the OEM 250cc injector (91-96) and 270cc (97+) is small and it is run at a high duty rate.

Im sure there are more scientific ways to go about this but im just trying to share what i have learned messing with injectors etc.

Flowrate is measured at how much fuel an injector flows at an industry standard 43.5 psi, because the OEM injectors are older needle style injectors they do not atomize as well as a modern 4,12, or 18 hole injectors so they shoot "two streams" which is a dated technology. The game nowadays is how fine/dense of a mist and small the particles of fuel can get. The fuel rail/fuel pressure regulator controls this ~43.5psi condition for the injectors so flowrate can be varied to a certain extent when increasing how finely the fuel is atomized. My understanding is that as we increase the atomization efficiency and mist density of fuel in the motor we can safely run a slightly larger flowrated injector. The ECU cannot physically see the larger flowrate but because the difference is not much it compensates in the fuel table. I am running a Uni-Filter, DF scoop, and full SOS exhaust setup, so i believe these modifications make the case for larger injectors even more convincing.

For example the Prospeed RDX injectors are 410cc flow rated at 43.5psi, this is too much a of a difference for the stock ECU to handle. it cannot effectively trim the fuel tables enough to compensate for the increased flow. Hence there was a chip for 91-94 and additional tuning required for 95+.

Im sure someone more versed than me will correct me on some of this, but hey at least im out here trying:redface:.

Some notes about installing Osidetiger's RC-DEVIL Bosch 18-hole kit:
-3 washers now shimming up the fuel rail on each post (12 total), this is the max height possible anymore and the nut wont have enough to thread on.
-use a bit of fresh motor oil when pressing in o-ring (14mm to 11mm) adapters into fuel rail
-ziptie adapters to fuel pressure regulator vacuum line
-use new crush washers on fuel line
-you must rotate the front bank of injectors 90-degrees to plug in as the plugs foul against a harness. Injectors spray in a perfect cone so it doesnt matter the position (no need to really align with marks on the fuel rail like OEM injectors)

I have 400 miles on this setup and so far no codes or problems. Im pretty happy with this setup however i dont have any great data besides, i installed it, ran it, pullled the spark plugs and "read" them with a nice light brown color. Everything seems to be operating/burning fine and it seems to make power everywhere. I have not done air/fuel ratio as the original OBD2 o2 sensors are not wideband so they do not show that information. I think this setup is pretty darn good and the motor runs like a sewing machine.

So far i know for sure this setup will work on 1995-1996 NSX for sure, im fairly certain it will work on 91-94 NSX with the same injectors just send Charlie pictures. If anyone has a 1997+ and wants to try it ill be happy to install for them and help.

One of the best mods i have done to this car is tint, i recently had the whole car done in HuperOptik Ceramic tint. 15%rear hatch, 30% sides, 90% windshield. It has been great, i dont use the A/C anymore hardly. People stare at me at stoplights still but it provides some semblance of privacy and i think it really adds to the overall appearance to car. A hair under $400 for the whole car with a lifetime warranty, the local guy is really good and able to apply even the rear hatch in one piece. The windshield on the NSX is so large comes so far back to the driver having a 90% tint on it just for U/V and heat reduction has been a lifesaver! I can only imagine how much my dash is thanking me now. A thick coat of ArmorAll and a good cleaning my dash is now protected from the sun. I wish i was one of those people that could put up those shiny windshield reflective things everything they get out of a car, but fact is im not. This solution is just as good without having to carry one of those accordion windshield protective things in the passenger seat.

finally got the door cards back on and cleaned up. The gathered leather on the door still looks good and my metal tabbed door card repair cant even be seen! a good cleaning, Shin-Itsu grease the rubber and ArmorAll everything else shes looking good as new! I broke the little triangle garnish piece shown top left by the window so its just sitting there now but hopefully ill find another soon thats not $50....i swear those things have to be one time use!

I really wanted the SOS billet door handles but mine are not broken and i couldnt justify $500 at the moment. I will likely grab some in the future or if a decent used set pop up for now ill just open everything really gentle! The SOS titanium gunmetal handles would look great :)

I found this SOS shifter knob here on Prime for a song and noticed it had a shiny finish vs. the satin finish mine had. I prefer the shiny finish one so switched them out and sold off my satin finish SOS knob. Im being picky sure but i really think it looks better and feels better in my hand.

Installed my long awaited Zanardi OEM trunk mat, I cant believe how much people are asking for these things now. I didnt pay that much but i would never pay $800+ thats just crazy. Oh well, at least i have one to call my own.

I found this NavPod setup with SOS bracket used on the facebook page for a pretty good price, i am a fan of the "clean" uncluttered view out of the dash and i dont really like touch-screen DoubleDin setups etc. Im still not sure if i will actually end up running this but its nice to have options.
I purchased a ScanGuageII OBD2 port scanner for $75 off ebay, it shows various metrics pulled from the ECU. For now i have chosen:
1-intake air temp
2-Water temp
3-RPM
4-Battery voltage

perhaps i will mount a more involved guage setup such as a UltraGauge etc. and make a mount for my iPhone8 to mount and wireless charge while it streams to my cmc140 modified bluetooth head unit. For now a quick and dirty template out of cardboard and later a sheet of carbon fiber.

I can't seem to see a lot of the pictures either. Just see circles with a minus sign in the middle. I was thinking it was just my work computer but if others are having the issue maybe not.

The pictures in all of the posts after the Bosch FI post are not showing. I've had finicky issues with Google Photo where I've had to open each photo and click the share icon and then click the generate link button and then redo the links to the pictures to get them to work sometimes.

ok, i just went and redid it all again. 3rd times the charm!

Ok, a little piece that bothered me. one of the brackets that holds the inake manifold plates broke off, a member on FB (Dan Guzman) has gone CTSC so he was kind enough to send me this bracket to finish off my engine bay. I would like to get SCW throttle body cover in stainless with logo (STMPO) bar clearance to finish off the engine bay. I just cant swallow the $70 just to placate my own vanity. Eventually i will break down and get it but im hoping they will release fuel rail covers soon like they have for the s2000.

A picture of my grandpa using my spoiler to roll a smoke, my favorite picture of my car. Sometimes he comes out just to look at it, i really am where i am today because of his efforts. I'd totally let him drive it but hes never driven a car; he comes from a different time, different place. Cherish your elders, one day it all you will have is memories.

o great another thing to do tonight:biggrin: 303 aerospace it is.

So, are these 18-hole Bosch injectors an upgrade from the 12-hole Densos you did in the other writeup? Am curious if you are going to update that thread with your experience. (Sorry if I missed it on the other thread!)

You are doing some cool things here and I would love to make my motor more efficient if these 18-hole Bosches are indeed more efficient and don't throw codes, etc.

Finally found a set of ScienceOfSpeed SOS Billet interior door handles, one can really understand the cost associated with these once in hand. They are super nice and well done pieces, worth every cent. Fitment is 100% as factory, it just reuses the threaded backplate to attach the lower lever. It just makes the experience of getting in/out of the car that little bit more sumptuous; a nice "thud" when opening the door and the extra little bit of weight adds that much more to the experience. Yes, these are a repair item but they really are quite luxurious.

I found a set of SOS satin finish handles here on Prime for a good price and it matches all the other SOS input pieces in the car
-SOS billet door handles
-SOS Rapid shift knob
-SOS E-Brake button

It can be said im a little of a SOS fanboy:redface:, got the polo too!

If im really being picky i would like:
-NA2 rear lower valence or the Seibon replica
but i cant do my own paintwork so im hesistant to move forward there and im not a fan of exposed carbon fiber look.

-ProDrive GC07c wheels if i can find a set on the "cheap" that need a refinish.
-Cedar Ridge beam bushings (to get back 1 degree of rear camber)
-Cedar ridge non-compliance suspension sway bar ends and other bushings (just for good measure and correct my settings from being lowered)
-might go back to stock spoiler idk 50/50 im just such a fan of the original lines of the NSX and the exposed CF is a bit boy racer-ish.
-Test Pipes (just for more exhaust sound if possible, the full SOS system sounds really nice but i want it f1 loud, just because)
-Pride V2 RFL, STMPO Messiah etc. if i can find one cheap or needs resto (see above ^)

The car performs and operates 100% (Knock on wood) and i done really have any complaints for now.
