I think the factory touchup paint is lacquer, but I'm not certain. Anybody know for sure? To be specific, '92 Formula Red, code R-77.

I would think the touch up would be lacquer. My non-oem touch up is lacquer.
Are you asking because you want to level a touch up blob?

I have a small scratch and I would like to thin the touchup paint before application.

I'm almost positive that using lacquer paint has been illegal for a long time.

Lacquer isn't used for painting but is used for touch up.

Because it is different than the enamel paint, it can be removed or leveled with Langka or the mothers leveling kit w/out disturbing the factory paint.
I am not a paint expert, but that is my understanding.

I like to use a very fine brush or sharp wooden stick to apply the touch up. The big fat applicator brush on the paint cap sucks.
