"Bush Doesn't Like Black People..."

In case you aren't familiar with how our government is SUPPOSED to work.
The chain of responsibility for the protection of the citizens in New
Orleans is:

1. The Mayor
2. The New Orleans director of Homeland Security (a political appointee
of the Governor who reports to the Governor)
3. The Governor
4. The Head of Homeland Security
5. The President

What did each do?

1. The mayor, with 5 days advance, waited until 2 days before he
announced a mandatory evacuation (at the behest of the President). The
he failed to provide transportation for those without transport even
though he had hundreds of buses at his disposal.

2. The New Orleans director of Homeland Security failed to have any plan
for a contingency that has been talked about for 50 years. Then he
blames the Feds for not doing what he should have done. (So much for
political appointees)

3. The Governor, despite a declaration of disaster by the President 2
DAYS BEFORE the storm hit, failed to take advantage of the offer of
Federal troops and aid. Until 2 DAYS AFTER the storm hit.

4. The Director of Homeland Security positioned assets in the area to be
ready when the Governor called for them

5. The President urged a mandatory evacuation, and even declared a
disaster State of Emergency, freeing up millions of dollars of federal
assistance, should the Governor decide to use it.

Oh and by the way, the levees that broke were the responsibility of the
local landowners and the local levee board to maintain, NOT THE FEDERAL
GOVERNMENT.

The disaster in New Orleans is what you get after decades of corrupt
(democrat) government going all the way back to Huey Long. Funds for
disaster protection and relief have been flowing into this city for
decades, and where has it gone, but into the pockets of the politicos
and their friends. Decades of socialist government in New Orleans has
sapped all self reliance from the community, and made them dependent
upon government for every little thing.

Political correctness and a lack of will to fight crime have created the
single most corrupt police force in the country, and has permitted gang
violence to flourish. The sad thing is that there are many poor folks
who have suffered and died needlessly because those that they voted into
office failed them.

Armando

Right on Armando!!!

Imagine the government and media telling you to get out and you not doing anything.... Reminds me of the movie Philadelphia when Denzel says to a client you were walking down a street and you fall in a manhole that was clearly marked and the client now wants to sue.

Bill Cosby has it right instead of all this babbling do something with your life. Why does it seem that every other immigrants that comes to the USA advances in society yet the African American race languishes.... I am not saying all African Americans but the majority.... The neverending cycle continues....

• Bill Cosby was anything but politically correct in his remarks Monday night at a Constitution Hall bash commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education decision. To astonishment, laughter and applause, Cosby mocked everything from urban fashion to black spending and speaking habits.

Bill Cosby, ready to let off steam. (Lawrence Jackson - AP)

"Ladies and gentlemen, the lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal," he declared. "These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids -- $500 sneakers for what? And won't spend $200 for 'Hooked on Phonics.' . . .

"They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English," he exclaimed. "I can't even talk the way these people talk: 'Why you ain't,' 'Where you is' . . . And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. And then I heard the father talk. . . . Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. . . . You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth!"

The Post's Hamil Harris reports that Cosby also turned his wrath to "the incarcerated," saying: "These are not political criminals. These are people going around stealing Coca-Cola. People getting shot in the back of the head over a piece of pound cake and then we run out and we are outraged, [saying] 'The cops shouldn't have shot him.' What the hell was he doing with the pound cake in his hand?"

If Kanye West doesn't think the government is doing everything possible he must have his head up his ass... Every political activist is screaming for his 40 acres and a mule.

I second that notion. I agree with both of you. Great points.

A MAJORITY? You are out of your mind!!!! and completely wrong. I 'll play nice and not respond half - cocked. If you want to post a statement like that you really need to know some statistics. For I know that you would be surprised.

Check out what demographic makes up the "Welfare State"

Check what programs are available for the so called immigrants that advance in society.

Then when you come back and say that there are programs for the Non- advancing and Majorily languishing African American.
Then look at the educational systems, then peel back the layers at the educational front.

Bill Cosby, though I agree with pulling your own weight and so many more of the things he said only because I would like to have some of the same movements, I don't agree with the sensationalism or the absoluteness that he has used to say it. He said it so you believe it? He is an Author.

You sheep should really check facts before you post this crap...
I am not amazed, I am not shocked, People have no clue to a solution so they speak rhetoric... Name one of these people bashing, well it seems to be soley the African American public, based on this thread, By people I mean Bill Cosby, The other story posted about welfare state, and your Famous thoughts, that have any inkling of a solution, name one..

It's easy to point and tell of differences, very hard to tell how to mesh them.
I leaned at a very early age that the color of my skin would somehow play a very limiting factor.

It's still a limiting factor, however, the good (In my eyes) outweigh any of the bad. No matter what idiots throw my way.. There are a lot of African Americans being generalized within your inane statement, your ridiculous statement, just like the other statements that are throughout this thread.

It's morbidly funny how people forget about the things that others do to others, then say that is the past get over it, move on... I think you would find it very welcomed advice if you could tell them how....

Give me the one program that works..... Think of one yet?
Welfare, no? We are the scapegoat and overly misrepresented by this program... Go by any trailer parks lately?

I will skip the long lists of facts that could be posted here, simply because people would most likely not believe them. They have been conditioned to belive the rhetoric before even thinking for themselves...

I can see that things have not changed, My 12 year old, (Extremely gifted) was just told the other day that she and other children of ethnic backgrounds, should consider jobs as waitresses, because that is what most of them would be doing... Mind you that this is a NASA summer program, the kids in there were some of the brightest in the country.. Instead of hearing shoot for the stars, they are being told go work at Starbucks...
This is 2005, when questioning the teachers motives, the program director was shocked and dismayed, no teacher involved within the program would make such a statement.. there has to be a misunderstanding...
When asking the teacher what was meant by that statement, the director was given the answer " Statistics shows that this is the case...

Maybe you and that stupid "BEEYAAAATCH" were sampling from the same demographics... What in the hell makes people that stupid? I have not been to many of the major cities of the US or the world for that matter, but I would be willing to bet that your statements are so wrong...

Man, I wish some people could be made to switch shoes for a few weeks.
Then again the suicide rate and abortion rate would rise... The Serial killing, child abuse and meth lab problems would be larger...

On the plus side it's nice to know what people really think.
Keep under estimating...

As far as 40 acres and a mule... How many people do you think really are sitting around trying to collect this? Are even talking about it?
You said it yourself "Political Activists" Individuals speaking from what they feel will get them clout, pub, whatever... They don't speak for the total population of ethnic subsets they may be part of... Just as I know you don't.
Bill Cosby spoke his mind, said what he wanted to say.

Keep your 40 acres, is it really yours? I think the biggest looters, rapist, and murderers stole it from someone else... I guess they should have been more like their opponents? Only they didn't know they were opponents...

Whenever you are in The midwest give me a shout I will take you on a tour.. Maybe you will change your mind about the majority thing..
Problem is so many people think like you... Just like so many people think that the others (Whites, only because this has become that type of an issue) have it so grand... Always the issue of black and white????

Why do you think so little of me?

EDUCATION is the one system that will work to fix the differences... You can't erase 250+ years on inequalities in 40years... Not when the effort has been a facade on many fronts...

I am done... I promise. I am going to languish with the MAJORITY in mediocrity...

I will not take the time to spell check... Gotta go get that Welfare Check...
traveling over 40 acres with a mule can take awhile....

You make some good points. I have always seen life as a poor and rich issue. After all, the things which seperate blacks and whites could be overcome with money or the power money has.

I agree with Armondos post. It was the resposibility of the LA governing bodies to handle and prepair for the storm and its aftermath. The ball was dropped and there is no amount of "Bush bashing" that can change that. Get over it and get on with the solution.

The Black and White issue:

I personally grew up dirt poor in really F-ed up neighborhood. I lived there with Blacks and Whites and there was always a divide. Cant tell you how often I get called "rich little white boy" now. If they only knew. I did notice that the older folks in the neighborhood were the ones keeping it going. The kids my age were happy as hell to play with each other, have sleepovers, go ride bikes, whatever. None us a gave a damn what color we were. I cant tell you how many time I went into a friends house and had the older members of the family say where I could here, "whats that whiteboy doing here". And it goes in both directions. Also when a black friend on mine and I would go to the store together, who do you think was always watched? Its real, its previlant, and its ignorant. The street slang and way of speech for "some" of the population is just an effect of modern culture. Tell me you haven't seen hispanics and whites and asians call each other the N-word as a greeting. Everyone wants to bling bling and have spinners on an Escalde. Why? Cause thats mainstream and what is seen on TV 16 hrs a day by kids. Len3.8 is a very well spoken and articulate man. Thats because he has made the choice as well as his parents to instill that in him. I dont know him personaly, and I may very well be wrong. But, Im sure he spent a good portion of his life in school working hard to be who he is. Does that need to be stressed a HELL OF A LOT more now-a-days, yes. In all walks of life regardless of color or financial status.

Color is pigment, not political.

I completely disagree, How much brains (Or lack thereof) each individual has takes priority over how much is in your bank account.

Under the right circumstances a viable brain can be massaged with education to become what ever it desires.

I have done this with myself and others. A Puerto Rican family, minus the father, who rented from me for years always on public assistance had several children. One of this kids, Josh, I met when he was 3 years old. I visited him everyday. When he was old enough I gave him odd jobs to do, the hardest or messiest ones I could find. He did them all and I paid him the going rate, plus 20% I put into an account he did not know about. He complained how tough it was, but that he didn't want to let me down. I told him his entire life was going to be that hard without schooling. He came back with "you never finished college." To which I replied " I worked very hard to get to this position, harder than I would like you to have to work."

He is the only member of his family to ever enroll and complete college. And the 20% I saved paid for his books. I am very proud of him.

steve,

from time to time i've read your posts and thought "boy, what planet is this guy from?".

then today i read this and i think, "what an exceptional human." not only did you influence his (and his family's) life in many ways during his early years, but by adding the unknown accelerator based on his hard work as he was growing up, you provided an extra cushion for him (and his family) when they likely needed it most.

and, call me silly, but now that i know this about you, i'm betting he's not the only non-family beneficiary of your goodwill and nurturing. last thing:you sly dog, you... in the end, while you've changed his (and likely) family's future, it's your family and friends, who have benefitted the most by having a person such as you in their lives, setting such a positive example :)

your karma bank must surely be full.

At my wedding last month my best man gave a speech. Within this speech he said "Steve is more misunderstood than anyone I have ever met" He went on to say how things were bad for him at his home and how my mother changed his life. I never knew about this until my wedding day.

I have a hard crust and the things I do for other people I rarely speak about. I don't do things for recognition. I do things because they need to be done.
Thanks for the compliments.

I am from los angeles so its a big melting pot here.......theres not a black or white issue here.........its just everyday life issues and up to the people whether they want to make it or not, whether the parents want to keep their kids in check and have them do good or not........Len you do have your points too although I know different parts of the US have different factors in how hard it is to make it........bottom line is everyone needs to do their part and pitch in to society in a postive way.......well hope to see all you guys at nsxpo =)

The most telling part is when West says "those are my people down there".....
Sorry Mr. West but those people are not "yours" they are american citizens and they belong to all of us, your comments just show what a racist you are......as long as people both white and black hold on to the titles of "black and white" this will be an issue....its not just the whites against the blacks ..I went to a wedding for a couple of good friends of mine and the bride and groom have dark skin but they are NOT African Americans....they are just plain Americans .when seeing me and my GF there, a grandma of the groom asked "what are they doing here?"...racism goes both ways as soon as we can all be color blind like children are, we will then be free of racism...Mr. West you are a racist.

wow! when I first opened up this thread I thought that the link was going to be to a SNL performance but after watching it I sure wasn't laughing. Kanye seemed to have a hard time being articulate and was obviously talking from pain and emotion.
Living here in Vancouver Canada I have grown up only knowing life with all types of cultures which as I see it was nothing but a positive thing in our society, we have our own "issues" but in all a great appreciation for each other, our cultural heritage as well as our shared canadian identity. So as a Canadian it blows my mind how black/white the USA is. Yes times have changed and slavery & segregation is over but even so to some extent blacks and whites are just as far apart. I find it amazing that a black person might get lynched walking into the "wrong" country bar, or a white person might get shot walking through the "wrong" neighborhood.
The disaster in New Orleans (a beautiful place with beautiful people that I recently visited) is an issue but as you can see it ignited pains that have not healed, I don't know who's fault it is if anyones as to what could have been or couldn't have been done, but what I do hear is why things can't get done. Not a George Bush fan at all, but he has it right when he said that there is no excuse to how things transpired and all they could do is the best they can now. Although he probably does not know the profoundness to this type of thinking it is the only sain thing to do.
This illudes to Americas dirty past, until Blacks are fully willing to forgive the wrong done to them and drop this HUGE victim identity nothing will change, just the same whites need to drop their judgement of blacks (and themselves) if true peace is possible. You might not like my words, but I talk from experience, my own heritage went through pain as last decade my people (i use that term lightly, all people are my people) went through some of the worst war crimes ever, I had family/friends raped, murdered, both, etc, etc.. But until you realize you are not your past, and that there is only one love and that all people are your brothers then you will never find true peace.
America seems to be going through a lot of pain, it will continue to do so until it realizes that pain is no longer needed...

One Love,

I agree. The only problem I see is an African American who is respectable, responsible, and hard working is judged and labeled by his peers as an "uncle Tom". Worse yet is the person who acts like punk or thug is considered "keeping it real." It is a no win situation and it sucks!

Love this pic.. so wrong..
