Cambo's '91 Formula Red Refresh Build from Oz

I think I should restore the blower motor on mine also. Any special tools or methods needed? All the seals just remove and install? It is all removed from under the front compartment?

Keep up the awesome work!

Yeah it's all pretty straight forward. Philips screwdriver is basically the only tool you need :)

I used some adhesive foam tape in two different thicknesses from a local rubber & foam shop.
Nice progress
Thanks! :)

Cleaned up and reassembled the AC condensors and fans and reinstalled one, other side to go.

Received my excellent condition replacement climate control unit. The buttons on my old one had begun to peel and this nice fresh one came up for sale.

One annoying niggle was the buzzing noise the climate control vents made when changing positions. So I pulled apart the motor units and reapplied new white lithium grease to the worm gears. Ahh... silence :) The old grease had simply dried up over 24 years.

Got a nice fresh replacement glove box lid as mine had a couple of scuffs. Experimenting with alcantara trim on my existing one as a side project.

Did some more dash stitching... only have three more runs of stitch to do now!

Got back into the shed at 10:30 last night and spent another few hours just fiddling with the bumper alignment to get it to where I'm happy! Pics....

Got the car outside in the daylight. The paint is stunning, pictures don't do it justice. I owe so much to my good mate and spraypainter Brett, his work is impeccable. <br />

Driving the car felt amazing. So immediately connected and comfortable. I couldn't resist a WOT 2nd gear pull once I was satisfied nothing was loose or about to let go! As the car is currently without a muffler this was pretty damned loud... but kinda cool :)

Brilliant work Cambo!
Look forward to meeting you next week and hearing all the details, please bring all your pics......
Cheers Scott

The whole system. DC Sports headers which need the collectors fixed up because the flex joins crack. Looking to replace the collector with a Burns Stainless item.

Looks great:

Question: any "difficulties" to dismount the NA1 tail lights ?

Tried it by myself just to see if it works "on a short notice".

The middle part was fu***n easy but althouhg I unscrewed all the small nuts from the left part it did not want to come out.
Felt like there was still a screw / nut holding it in place but there was no.

Is there a "trick"?

They are a pain in the butt. The gasket will be perished and stuck hard to the body of the car. A plastic trim removal tool will be your friend!

Also as you probably figured the center piece has to be removed first before the tails will come out. Undo all the nuts and gently work around the studs to push the light out. Leaving the nut on the thread and using the socket to push on it helps a little also. But yes they are a pain. Mine weren't so hard because it was the 2nd time they had been removed.

Got some brushed black metallic vinyl and had an expert friend test wrap an interior piece for me. I like the effect. I'll do these window switch inserts and the stereo/center console trim in the same.

perfect - thanks. Did not want to break something loose so just tried it. Yes, middle part must be out, that's clear.
Will try it again when +02 rear lights are "on stock".
If this does not work, will have to dismount rear bumper and will make sure that nothing is twisted.

The brushed black aluminium looks fantastic! Are you doing console to match?

I'd be interested to see how it holds on to the panel in the window switch recess. I did a DIY with a CF wrap and whilst the panel was good once the cabin got hot the area around the switch would lift. Hope you don't have same issue as it was done by professional installer.

Did I say I really like this effect?

regards, Paul

Thanks Senninha! Yeah I'm doing the console to match :) I'm hoping it does hold up. If not we can always cut around the window switches and leave them black.

So this happened today...

Sorry for the lack of updates recently guys! I feel like I have let you all down.

There's a few things coming from Japan at the moment which I shall take bulk photos of and document the installation of...

In the meantime here's the latest pic of my car on its new shoes - just needs a touch of 'low' and it will be exactly how I imagined.
