What, no stats for who hit the most cones?

Thanks Chris and your crew for putting this on! The smiles on everyone's faces who were out there is testament to how much fun this really was. It was also a golden opportunity to let my girlfriend drive my car for the first time, which finally got me out of the doghouse. Now talking her into buying her own NSX is going to be that much easier......

Once again, top notch event! (as if we'd expect anything less out of the SOS crew and the Phoenix NSXers)

Chuck

Wow, I came in 3rd... I had no idea...

Thanks Chris for setting up such a great course! Very challenging and fun, and I never did get my car sideways the way I wanted. I would've stayed around for some more fun runs, but my wife wanted to check out the casino across the street  .

Chuck,

Way to go!! Wow. I think you cheated a little though!! That notch out of your rocker panel from the wipeout saved weight and allowed for more cone clearance! Congratulations and I hope all is well with your dog back home. Thanks for all you did for us.

Take care,

Chris

Thanks, Chris!

Yeah, I had the special weight reduction/air vent under my driver's side door. I'm not sure how much it helped in keeping me away from the cones, though.....I think I took top honors in cone killing.

No word on the dog yet. We've been putting up flyers and checking all over town since we got back into Albuquerque.

Congrats Chuck! I was honored to be your passenger... imagine how much faster you'd have gone without me weighing you down! :D

<FONT SIZE="1">(ps. no need to tell everyone i wasn't your passenger the whole time ;-))

Hi

Yeah...you looked like a real heavyweight :)

Regards

Chris, Thanks for the fun day.

I am a litte confussed though. The list of overall winnners does not make seem right.

Overall:
1. Chuck Ferguson (41.46) - touring class
2. Greg Strang (41.83) - modified class
3. Dave Degroff (43.07) - touring class

Touring Class:
1. Chuck Ferguson
2. Dave Degroff
3. Bob Flamino

Modified Class
1. Chuck Ferguson
2. Stephen Howe

Chuck Ferguson won both touring and modified. I think he slapped on a SC between runs.
Greg Strang came in second in "overall" with a modified car (first in his class) but did not make the modified list.

Congrats to the winners!

It's probably a typo in Chris' opening post. If you click on the link to the SOS page with the results, you'll notice Greg Strang has a 41.83 time.

So, if that is the case, the results should look like:

Overall:
1. Chuck Ferguson (41.46) - touring class
2. Greg Strang (41.83) - modified class
3. Dave Degroff (43.07) - touring class

Touring Class:
1. Chuck Ferguson

Modified Class

So the touring class beat the modified class? So much for mods.

The winner of the modified class was running both the track event and the autocross, and was hopping back and forth between the two all day. The touring class winner was a weenie and didn't want to do the track stuff  , so he (I) had the autocross mindset the whole time. Autocross is a lot different from the track, and to keep changing driving styles all day and remember the correct line through a very tight autocross course was probably pretty difficult. Also, this course wasn't biased in favor of the high-horsepower cars because of how tight it was. Sticky tires and a tight suspension would pay bigger dividends, IMHO. Most people weren't even getting into second gear at all!

Where the NSX shines is on the track, and watching the modded (forced induction) cars fly by the non-modded cars on the straights was pretty eye-opening.

Congratulations again! We have prizes for the overall podium winners, top class winners, & most improved...

Chuck Ferguson - Carbotech Bobcat Brake Pads (front and rear) & $50.00 TireRack Gift Certificate
Greg Strang - Cobalt Friction Brake Pads (front and rear) & $50.00 TireRack Gift Certificate
Dave Degroff - NSX Die-Cast Model

We also have a special award. We were originally going to call this the cone killer award, however, since Chuck has already won overall and class awards :) we decided to name this the most improved award. Steven Imbessi wins this award. Despite having to run back and forth between track and autocross events, he ran the course over and over until he got it right and ended up with a respectable time. Congrats Steven! We have a NSX Die-Cast Model for you as well.

Steven & Dave - we don't have your addresses to send these out. Please drop me an e-mail with this info.

We'll be shipping these out tomorrow.

take care,
-- Chris

Wow, that's a surprise! It was very hectic going back and forth between the track and the autocross but I had a fantastic time and a great experience. Thanks to everyone that set up the event - you all did a terrific job.

Steven.
