Excellent thread!

Thanks its been a ton of work, but all worth it in the end.

Engine bay coming together... My brother Plasti dipped the coolant tank turned out great, lets see if it holds up to the heat over time apparently good for 100 degrees its says on the can:

Dash installed for now, I plan to re-covering the interior later. Climate control is doing some weird stuff will most likely send it out to BrianK over the winter.

So after week 3&4 and tons of work wrapped up the motor, and a completed a huge checklist of things. She now starts and runs & drives under her own power, no more pushing it around. Initial start-up my brother turned it over as I watched of leaks and potential fire items like fuel lines, oil leaks etc nothing she was good, after the 2nd crank attempt she started right up and ran beautifully managed to bleed the cooling system. Only issue was a bit of high idle ~1000rpm but the intake and vac lines are still missing hoping that resolves itself later:

Glass guys showed up to get the windshield in, installed new 2-piece upper rubber seal & reinstalled the gutters and rubber door seals.

Powder coater who also did my valve covers in krinkle red, also did my OEM calipers in Satin Black. They turned out good couple of the rubber seals look old (20yrs old) will take them apart and Overhaul them later. Installed new cross drilled and slotted rotors and new AEM (Nissin) kevlar/ceramic front pads.

Installed new SS brake lines, and new bleeders. When through the bleed process on the freshly rebuilt ALB unit. Everything is functioning well, we'll see how it goes under driving conditions so far so good.

Most excellent work Sir! Welcome to the magnum brotherhood. There is no way to explain how this color looks even under the sun till you have seen it in person. Your attention to re-assemble the car detail is stupendous. Wish I could give you a hand I miss doing this lol.

my bad re the deadline

looking great only 1 week to go!

Thanks man... deadline has been met its actually done now.... I will post more soon.

Most excellent work Sir! Welcome to the magnum brotherhood. There is no way to explain how this color looks even under the sun till you have seen it in person. Your attention to re-assemble the car detail is stupendous. Wish I could give you a hand I miss doing this lol.

Thanks Gil, glad to be part of the brotherhood. You helped inspire me to build it & I've already received many compliments on the colour and how it looks different based on lighting I've already seen brown-bronze, to gray, to black. I was worried about how it would look using Sherwin-Williams Waterborne paint system, no more base clear allowed in Ontario, Canada. This is the first car I've ever painted from the ground up using waterborne & she looks good. I wish I knew how to paint and do body work like you... sent it out to have done by good local shop.

Ha ha would have been nice to have another helping hand from a pro... my brother and I built it from empty shell to full driving and running car in less than 6 weeks and we both still continued to work our full time jobs. So with a lot of long nights into the wee morning hours, and gallons of Tim Horton’s coffee later we have a finished product.

Awesome, post up more pics I have a habit now of checking your build since I first saw it last week. Which wheels are you going with?

Thanks man... yes more coming soon see if I can post some more up later today. Not sure about wheels yet haven't had a chance to even look so many options though.

Intake installed idle has returned to normal. Manage to take the car up and down my driveway a few times brought it up to normal operating temp everything is good

Hey thanks it feels good to have it almost done. Still have to deal with the side skirts, front lip, entire interior needs to be redone, stereo, as well as some other smaller items. Yes the rear quarters un-bolt & come off clean. They designed this car right, not many cars can do this.

nice work bro.

Thanks Shawn, I've been also following your many built threads.. great work & attention to detail! A great accomplishment to be proud of! Yes you are correct this job was very time consuming managed to get it from refinished empty shell to turn key driving car in just under 6 weeks. Was very hard to no scratch anything freshly painted during re-assembly as well. Still have lots to do probably take me another year to work out the interrior bits look of the exterior etc.

RM carbon intake tube ftw!!!

I have the same one.

Yes great eye, that is an RM intake on there. Man its so much louder sucking action with no interrior pannels in the car, but still sounds awesome at WOT.

Some more pics for the junkies out there...

As promised I mentioned in previous post, earlier year NSX's had a common issue with the rear tb bank cover rubbing the cam gear face. Some idiot whom I should mention from Acura dealer in the GTA, this bright star Acura certified Tech decided to pop a hole in the side of the cover to inspect things not sure what he was hoping to achieve? Maybe he thought he could pry the cover back or maybe he wanted the tb to jump!? Good thing no plastic piece were found inside the cover areas.

I had no idea this had happened until I did the tb engine service. Some debris made it in the cover, good thing I caught it now and not years down the road. Lesson to all out there, make sure you hire someone who knows the car, and not some Acura Tech that has no clue what their doing?!

New updated cover installed, still had to play around to get it not to touch the cam gear I will inspect it next season to make sure it doesn't rub. New one fits y basically 'popping' it into place with some careful finesse.

Old cover, replaced with new revised cover see the rub marks.

going back to the original oem pre 02 skirts?

Eibach & Koni setup is giving a subtle drop for now. Thanks man she is coming long but nope not going to be running pre '01 skirts. Ugly '91 wheels are just temporary for moving it around for now bigger wheels are in the mix as well. Still have the interior to deal with as well as well as many other smaller items, the list seems to be growing every time I drive the car. lol

Are you going after the original 1998 look this color year came in for UK/Japan?

I do plan on changing it up a bit from bare stock, originally I was going to do this as a Sorcery Type II I sourced from GT-One about 5years ago which is still sitting in my basement I'll probably put it up for sale... decided to keep it subtle this time. Have had a few people asking if I'm planning to do another '02 conversion, which I did one a few years ago on my '00. I still have to get the body shop to finish the paint work, still needs to be buffed and polished as well as the front lip, skirts etc.

Great build. Its amazing the dedication people hve to restore a beautiful car. Congrats. Did I read right that you nnow have two NSX's?

Thanks this was a complete frame off restoration and refresh from bottom to top. I have yet to drive it around on a regular basis, work out any little issues if there are any I guess next season. I've pretty much got it parked up for the rest of the season with winter lurking around the corner.

Yes you red correctly... I guess yes at one point I had 4 NSX's 2 black and 2 red. lol Now I'm down to just 2 a '00 Berlina Black, '91 Magnum Gray, & 1/3-ish of a '91 black which is the donor for this project and reduced to a bare shell parts car entire rear frame assy and left rail and floor. That will be another piece I'll post up for sale, I'm sure my old girl will make an excellent donor for someone else fixing up another one rear ended or side impacted.

Car is pretty much ready for Winter storage now. Thanks to the mild Southern Ontario weather I was fortunate enough to have her out for a couple of short drives. After ~125kms of driving I'm pleased to report no major issues and she drives like an almost new car well minus the missing interior lol. More to come over the winter and into spring/summer of '13.

Few more recent shots now riding on Eibach Springs, and Koni Sport Shocks and alignment completed... hopefully in a couple weeks she'll be heading back to the body shop to complete the painting of the skirts, front lip and polishing of the entire car.

Licence Plate LED's installed:

Like my green frog tape... trying to keep water from dripping in past the seal. Will have to take the gutters back off and reseal them, the OEM foam isn't working so well anymore. Anyone have some suggestions? :
