NSXPO 2003 Discussion

It was a real one, I found him walking along the street.
His wing was damaged so it could not fly.
It took about 20 pics just to get 5 good ones.
This car looks great in these pics but even better in person.

On Sunday I spent very little time taking pictures and all my free time trying to hitch rides with instructors. For the first time in a long time, I felt like a kid at an amusment park again.

Otto

Otto,

sorry that you had to wait until the end of the day before getting a ride with me. I had a very long line of people wanting a ride. Somebody made a comment that I should have a sign up sheet for it.

Anybody took picture of the car? The car is Tom Chiarella's NSX with #6 on the door. We were sharing the car for the event.

Andrie,

No problem. While I was waiting, I did get to ride with other instructors. It was good to compare different lines and driving styles.

4 highlights of the event.

1> Driving Steve Howe's CTSC from SF to Infineon racyway. He was generous enough to swap cars with me. The sound of the SC is addictive to say the least. Power is strong, smooth and linear. Instead of down shifting, I can bring the RPM from 2k to whatever in a hurry. A big thank you to the doctor with a big heart!

2>The police escort from Sacto to Napa valley. Having a police wave me to go faster when I was going 95 already on a car pool lane without a passenger was odd. Normally, I would have gotten 2 tickets already.

3> A ride in Alex V's GruppeM SC car on the first track day. I never knew that our cars can do that. Making a track car show-ready is just impossible and he pulled it off beautifully. He's so smooth on the track at such speed is simply amazing! Thanks Alex!

4> LAST BUT NOT LEAST, Managed to catch a ride from Andrie 10 minutes before I head back to SoCal completes the event for me. Not only he is an amazing driver, but he is friendly and helpful. The NSX community is damn lucky to have you in it. Thank you Andrie!

What a fun trip!

Some of my pics
Hey Brian, beautiful pics! It was nice meeting you, and thanks again for the DVD!

I had such a blast at NSXPO, there are so many people to thank I don't even know where to begin. For starters, cudos to the NSXPO planning committee for such a fantastic event! Also, I want to thank Otto Joe, Powered by Honda, and Gerry Johnson--among many others--for generously offering me rides in their cars, as I did not have my NSX with me. It was so much fun hanging out with the California and Arizona NSXers, we definitely have to do a combined event sometime!

I've got about 3GB of photos and videos to sort and post, but unfortunately I have about a million things to catch up on at work. :( I'll be reading up on Prime and posting stuff in the next week or so, so stay tuned...

stupied question.....seth how much about did all that carbon fiber cost? That is a bad ass job...Kudos..

Jeremy

I talked to Chris at SOS. He said the Carbon fiber hood, fenders, front bumper and new style lights will run in the ballpark of 4,500. Pretty good deal! Will did an excellent job on this kit. He's continuing to put out great stuff. Great job Will!

Barn Man....

They are all excellent pics. Thanks for sharing guys. I can't wait for next year NSXpo! Finally it's coming to East Coast!!! :)

Why are you surprised?

DocJohn: I'm surprised - your wife is more beautiful than your car - and that is already very pretty! Stock or modified?;)

It's not that DocJohn is or isn't ugly, but he has a NSX, isn't that aphrodisiac enough? Have you heard his NSX under WOT? The color scheme we won't discuss (parts of the car look great, which parts, I won't say) Yes his wife is more beautiful than the car, but don't be surprised, most owners of NSX's have attractive significant others, it's a requirement!!!:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Aftermarket perspective

I prefer the OEM look. To anyone considering modifications of any sort, my answer is the same thing I tell my wife: "It's only original once." Why mess with perfection?

You have to look closely to find anything non-OEM on my 1991 car, which still has its original paint. But judging from the cars at NSXPO, a substantial percentage of owners of coupes really like the race car look. Personally, I think most of these modifications deface a beautiful car, but to each his own. And every car that's modified makes mine more rare.

Re: Aftermarket perspective

Some people modify for more than its appearance. The NSX is not perfection...

Big Thanks!

It was a pleasure meeting you all face to face at NSXPO. We would like to thank all the event organizers and anyone else that made this event so memorable.

Doesn't look like near as many cars as NSXPO 2002... Is the participation down, or just not everyone there yet?
Only a small fraction of the attendees went on the group drives this year. But participation was up considerably.

According to the registration forms, there were 85 NSXs at NSXPO 2002, and there were 47 in the group photo.

According to the registration forms, there were 170 NSXs at NSXPO 2003, and there were 115 in the group photo.

It was great to see so many cars, and so many people - new faces as well as familiar ones. The best part of NSXPO 2003 is getting together with such nice people. I only regret that I didn't get a chance to meet everyone, and that I didn't spend more time chatting and socializing with those that I did get a chance to meet.

The Arizona group would have joined the drive, had their transport not gotten a flat tire. :( I'm so glad I was able to go though, thanks to Otto and Conrad!

Same here! I'm glad we finally got to meet though, and you are just as nice in person as on the computer screen! :)

Who was the Fri night speaker?
There were two speakers after dinner. First was a representative from American Honda, talking about the car etc. Then came Marvin Lee, the stand-up comedian, who has posted here in the past. He was hilarious and included a lot of material about the NSX and the NSX owners at the event.

I gave Marvin a ride around the track on Sunday... :D

No problem. You're welcome to ride shotgun anytime.

Are these two pics somehow related??? :D

Cute!!!:D

But I do not drink. I do however drive off course on wet grass on slick Kuhmos:eek:

Gary, I came by to chat with you a bit about your wing on saturday. There was another man there who I think runs NSXBuilder. He mentioned about a quick easy method on installing the NSX-R front braces. I wonder if he can do a howto for that mod. It seemed to save a lot of time. Andrie mentioned he had installed 3 of them, but had to remove the bumpers for all of them.

It was also cool to put a face to all the different names I see here.... especially for those of you who are hardcore. :)
