Orange to be available in 2019

I just scanned the line with the CF roof and missed the second line for the CF roof with the antenna
 
I beg to differ on that one. Valencia Red Pearl was the most popular color ordered for 2017. Even more so than Berlina Black and 130R white. Nouvelle Blue Pearl was tied for 4th which isn't bad. I think paint is an area where lots of people will spend the money for something special. Especially once you see that Andaro out in the sun.
But I think that dealer cars played a large role in the number of Valencia cars. Our (2) 130R and (2) Source Silver sold easier than the (1) Valencia.

Same with the ELS/XM, Interwoven wheels, and all the CF bits.

Orange as an Andaro color would be amazing.

With regards to your Valencia selling slower than the 130r and Source Silver, what was the MSRP of it in comparison to the other colors? I'd venture and say it was probably higher than the 130r and silver ones. Point being is that more than likely, MSRP (and thus selling price) was even a bigger factor than color in moving them. Glancing over remaining 2017 inventory, the vast majority of leftovers are in the $200k range with a good selection of 130r, casino, Valencia, NBP, etc. Hopefully this orange will be the first truly "exotic" color for the NSX and as David said, a color that most people ordering this car wouldn't mind spending a little more to get this "special" color.
 
I think you saw our valencia. It was a $181k build, so not much more than the 130Rs or the Silver, paint being the only change in spec. We kept all of ours in the 170-180 range.
 
Interesting that Source Silver has so low a number. Silver was the most popular NSX color in the USA in every model year from 2000-2005.

I think Source Silver looks fine, especially with red calipers.
 
I would also love to see a Verde Mantis esq color added to the line up, maybe bring back spa yellow as well. I've got a lot of clients that that wished the Curva red would have been more like the original red on the 1991 car. I think some wheels and paint color choices and maybe allow some cool stitching color options and patterns and that adds a lot for not much effort on their part.
 
Silver is (was) a very nice colour, I remember the first 1gen NSX caught my eyes .. was the silver .. with black top .. (may be too many Red and Black back then) I passed so many good deal 1gen NSX because they are all Red, (and some Green, which isn't bad) if I saw a Silver (or white) I would jump on it! (Still regret I didn't get one, whatever colour)

In the early 2000's Silver was big, I got Silver 996 back then, Silver M3, Silver 3 series, Silver 5 series ... sharp, easy to keep clean, and stunning at night!

Now, hardly see Silver, either darker "gun metal" or Grey, or Pearl white ..

I didn't see a Valencia. I only knew of a source silver (high 160? - low $170?) and a 130r (176K) when a forum member listed them here on this forum. When I inquired about them, the source silver was gone a fews days before. I would have definitely picked up the silver from you simply for the price it was selling for (as would others including it's buyer.:) ) Perhaps the Valencia was sold before then or came in afterwards.

Nevertheless, a $6k up-charge on Valencia is perhaps enough to sway buyers to pick up even a source silver over it, all else equal. I guess the color in itself is not super-car exclusive enough to command that premium. (An orange, yellow, or a Green beast from hell AMG green could hopefully prove so.). The more interesting question would be is if both colors (Valencia Red and silver) cost the same and you had two cars with the only difference being color, would the Valencia still sell second to the source silver? I would lean toward saying the Valencia would sell first...
 
A darker silver like kaiser might be nice of silverstone like....
 
I love Silver, however for some reason to me the Silver is not very exciting on the new NSX. I like the Casino White over the Silver. The Andaro paints are stunning in direct sunlight. I wasn't sure of the Nouvelle Blue when I saw the pictures online, however when I saw it in person at my dealer it was amazing. I'm glad I waited and I was able to get a Nouvelle Blue thanks to the incentive to move them off the showroom floor.
 
In any event, I'm sure I'm not the only one who was disappointed by the limited palette of colors available on the new NSX. Especially after all the hoity-toity marketing blather about how the NSX would be a "bespoke" car, the limited color choices (and generally rather boring ones at that) was a cold reality check of how customizable the car actually turned out to be.

The Valencia was before the silver car we talked about.

Assuming price and options were exactly the same, I think I would chose the silver car with red calipers and Y-spokes. Something about it just pops. Our employees were in favor of silver over 130R.
 
Whenever a customer is going to shell out $150,xxx+ dollars, giving them options is a smart thing to do. At this level people expect to be able to express themselves fully in terms of the exterior color.

From what we've heard it seems quite a few were swayed by not offering a Spyder version as well....


Side note: Followed a new 2017+ white R8 to work today, it's not the first time we've seen this car for sure but seeing it on the highway with the directional flowing turn-signals and super low wide stance really makes this car a stunning ride! I think the new NSX is the same way as seeing it parked vs. on the highway in motion is dramatically different. Anyone else notice this?
 
i really want to see the option to change all of the interior silver plastic to carbon fiber. the carbon fiber interior kit should have included that, not just the steering wheel and gauge hood.

stitching on the seats too. i love the diamond quilted seats in the R8.
 
I believe the silver materials for the interior are aluminum

I do understand the preference to opt into CF trim

I had the pleasure of a three hour drive with another Gen2 NSX. The car is stunning in motion from every angle.

Absolutely agree. Carbon fiber interior pack should do everything, steering wheel, paddles, trim pieces, or allow customization like Porsche where you can choose the material for each specific trim piece. Let people select between, leather, alcantara, Carbon Fiber, or aluminum for all those interior pieces.

Diamond quilted seats are stunning, but have you ever seen the diamond quilted headliners to match the seats? I saw a yellow R8 V10 plus at Audi Manhattan that had the competition package and the seats and headliner with the quilted diamond stitching. I also love the y-stitching in the performante, Manhattan motorcars had a yellow one with the stitching to match and that was also pretty stunning.

Point being that those options are some things guys will expect when they are personalizing their car. If we can offer the right options the number of orders will be higher. At the moment you can typically find what you want already built somewhere and go try and negotiate a deal.
 
I have said all along that a "bespoke" halo car built to order needs way more interior/exterior options..They got the structure/engineering/packaging on point...but the rest is weak.

Manufacturers charge more for less weight and more power.

One of the sales hurdles has already been price so those changes won't result in more sales.

The lack of colors in and out and other personalization options is a real issue. Rich folks like to select from palettes and create their own expression.

The car already has insane power and performance.
 
The orange is hot. This is why I am waiting probably till next spring to buy another car. I’ve had the itch though to get a R8 V10 plus...

If they wanted to make a car that would be massively popular and sell they would have. They chose to push their engineers and designers to develop something completely new for this price segment and they did a damn good job of that. They engineering and technology that makes this car great is remarkable at the $156,000 price point.

The problem is people expected a tribute to the original NSX which, while it may have sold well, would have done nothing to advance Acura as a brand and show they way of the future in regards to their vehicles. I've said this many times and I will say it again, the NA V6 with a manual gearbox, all aluminum construction, and RWD that worked and was reliable was groundbreaking at the time. Ferrari was scared when the original NSX came out. While an NA V6 that was lightweight and RWD may have sold well now, it was never what the car was going to be. The NSX is about pushing the limits of technology and doing so with reliability unparalleled by other manufacturers.

Both the Gen1 and the Gen2 have succeeded in this attribute. I love my Gen2 as much as when I had my Gen1.
