GREAT !!!

I used to post here all the time when I had my NSX. Now I have a Lexus SC430. I love the Lex, but really miss the Acura and you guys. You're all TRUE enthusiasts. The Lex forum is mostly guys with $$$ that talk about "favorite music while top is down", "whose your favorite dealer", "my dealer picks up and delivers my car for me", etc. etc.
I mistakenly asked if anyone had changed their own oil and was flamed with comments like "Why would you do that instead of just paying a few hundred dollars and have someone else dirty their hands ?" and "What, you actually do that yourself ?" The best one was "Floor jack and stands, how do those work ?".
Nothing against all those Biff's and Muffy's, but YOU guys are true auto enthusiasts and I miss you all !
I still intend to work on my Lexus myself........I guess I'll just have to depend on trial and error. At least I know what kind of music I'm suppose to listen to when i drive off to Pep Boys for parts.

You are absolutely right. I sneak around different forums, but I haven't seen any forums that gather purer and nicer car enthusiasts than NSXers.

Toyota MR2 forums are really good too, but they just don't have the same wealth (I'm not talking about knowledge wealth either)

I think we should have an NSX and MR2 rally one of these days, since I consider to the MR2 to be an NSX jr.

Interesting you say that. I've been an MR2 owner for 5 years and an NSX owner for over 2 years now.
I'd like to agree that many MR2/NSX owners are pretty hardcore too. :p

I sold my '93 MR2 Turbo (which I had painted to look like a NSX) and bought a '91 NSX. I wonder how many others have made the jump from "little brother' to "the real thing"?

Funny how the same cars turn up over and over again. A friend in England kept his MkI MR2 when he bought his NSX. I used to be on team that raced a MkI MR2 in the Firehawk series...

Ahh, but they do (or did). We just can't get it in the US. It's called the Honda Beat-

It has rollbar, racing seat and an aggressive suspension... its my new
cheap track car and daily driver.... hehe.

Here are the most common "hardcore" NSX owner car combinations IMO:

NSX + MR2
NSX + Miata
NSX + M3
NSX + S2000
NSX + Civic

long time MR2 owner here. i dont have an NSX but am a fan of them. I enjoy reading the information here, this is a great source of knowledge. I like it when I hear nice comments about other auto communities. The $hit talking and stuck up atmosphere from the Supra boards gets old fast.

Yes we may not have the 'wealth' that you guys do (although i dont like to think about how much $ i have in my car

) MR2 owners are very serious about making respectable power. take care all.

Hey Larry, If any of the stuffed shirt guys want to know how to get a GS400 up on jack stands, let me know I just had mine up on them last weekend changing out tires/wheels for the summer. I know where your coming from. When I bought my Lexus they delivered it in a special room with mirrors and mood lighting. I said, "give me a break guys and open the garage door".
2000 GS400 + 96NSX being shipped tomorrow from Portland. Can't wait till the guy down the street that walks his dog with a glass of wine see's that thing. Also can't wait to sneek up on him and see his dog drop a turd in the street after a 8000rpm rev.

I went the other way. I've owned my NSX for over 2 years and recently purchased a MKII MR2 as a utility car. It has a deeper trunk with about an extra cubic foot of room.

But you didn't sell your NSX to get the MR2, did you?

I said and meant "Hardcore" as in hardcore sports car and motorsports enthusiasts,
not owners who buy it (NSX etc) to parade town around in...

If I had to guess which car the hardcore sports car and motorsports enthusiasts most frequently own along with their NSX, I would guess it would be the Acura Integra Type R, with the Integra GS-R (and, now, the RSX Type S) also right up there.

I think the survey results are just as valid for the enthusiasts as for any other NSX owners. Remember, even enthusiasts often have a more practical car in the household. And most of us are hardcore enthusiasts anyway.

What makes you think this?
I don't know one NSX owner who owns a ITR.
How many people do you know who own NSX & ITR (not the regular Integra)?

I have a Mkl MR2! Great car for a student. Reasonably nippy, very responsive, and cheap to run. Thinking about modern day equivalents of the Mk1, and the NSX is surprisingly similar. Apart from the Loti, are their any other mid-engined hardtops? Some day soon I will have an NSX.

Kenji, if you’ve got any pics of your race-prepped Mk1, I’d love to see them.

Merlin.

I also know of one NSX owner that also owns an ITR. And as soon as I can find one I will also own an ITR and an NSX. I think you might be surprised how many NSX owners own an ITR.

Hey, Does a FIERO count? LOL!

I've owned four.

I've met at least ten or twelve NSX owners who own an Integra Type R, and at least as many who own an Integra GS-R or other Integra. (Probably more, but I can only mention those with whom I've discussed what other cars they have in the household.) The ITR easily the most frequent other car owned among the NSX owners I've met. And of those I know who own both, most of them track both - including owners I know in Georgia, Ohio, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and, of course, Illinois (in addition to myself). In a couple of the cases, the primary driver of the ITR is the college-age son of the NSX owner, still living at home (same household).

I haven't met any with an MR2 or a Miata*. I have met several with an S2000 or an M3, though. Including one who has an S2000, an NSX, an Integra Type R, and another Integra.

*EDIT: I know one who had a Miata in addition to his NSX, but wrecked it (the Miata).
