This is how I want my "ish" build thread 1997 NSX

Hey man .. Love your build! About to swap my tan for black and red as well. Just wondering where you purchased that black spray from? Can I get it at a local store or do I get it through eBay? Also what is the prepper for? Just wipe down first with it?

Oh yah and how is the spray holding up? Would you recommend it? How did you spray the speaker cover on the door panel? Just sprayed right over it?

Sorry so many questions! Lol

Sorry for the delayed response.. The spray is holding up very well, but you know its all in the prep. I ordered mine through eBay but I knew it was legit when I saw it at a local well known leather repair shop. So with the speaker cover, I originally removed the tan fabric, sanded off the grill and dipped it. But eventually I bought a used set of OEM speaker covers with the black already on them.

This is how I DONT want my ish

So I had a mishap the other day... could have happened to anyone. The guy heading northbound and wanted to turn left across traffic into the post office. I was heading southbound in the far outer lane. The first two lanes were stopped because the light about 100 yards ahead had either just turned green or was still red. Needless to say the guy turning could not see me and unfortunately he didn't do what most people do in that scenario (inch forward until any cars coming can see you and you can see them which give both cars the opportunity to stop). I was going a good 35-40 mph and had a wall of cars on my left. By the time the SUV popped out of nowhere, I had about 20 feet to see him, react, and stop. I slammed on my brakes but I was so close I just kept going and slid into his Tahoe. Unsure at this time what the end game will be. The driver was ticketed for failing to properly yield when turning across traffic with me having the right of way.

With regard to my NSX, at first it doesn't look too bad, but once I opened up the hood and looked around I saw some ugly damage. I however am not a claims adjuster and hopefully its always worse looking than the actual damage. Right now i already know I need a new front bumper cover, drivers side headlight, Downforce cf hood, left fender, and anything structural behind the fender because its bent up pretty good. Hopefully my LoveFAB brace prevented any major flexing. My SCW Radiator Cooling panel though buckled pretty good and the battery down below was also shifted and is hanging off about 3" instead of being on center.

since you were hard on the brakes the forces might have spared the frame rails.....

Sorry about your misfortune. Hopefully the adjuster will have some good news for you and the other guys insurance covers your deductible.
Not sure if you are going through your own insurance for the repairs. But it will save you alot of headaches esp when it comes to parts, any questions feel free to pm me. (Used to work for the insurance co's )

Cool man thanks. Yeah going through my own (Grundy), other guy has Progressive and in a worse case total loss scenario, I have it insured at $50k value whereas Progressive would use kbb or nada and we know how that always goes. Also zero deductible on comp or coll.

This is how I want my "ish" build thread 1997 NSX

Sorry to hear about that. Hope it all comes back together better than new.

I also have Grundy for that exact reason- stated value. No trying to lowball on the vehicle's value.
Hopefully there is a great NSX specialist/ higly qualified body shop in your area to put everything back to just like before fit and finish.

Or you could ship it to Shawn in Tampa....

Sorry to see this carnage. Glad you are well and financially set with Grundy. I too have stated value and it saved by backside on my last car. Good luck on "ish" build Part Deux.

Oh man, that's tough to see.........but I'm hoping that after a slight hiccup this thread will continue to evolve with good things!

Shawn=master.

Small update, as of today, the pre-estimate is up to $20,233.. this does not include the Downforce CF hood or the BC Forged RS41 wheel. They are opening it up soon to inspect for suspension damage but I do not anticipate any based on the photos.

Oh no! Painful to see those pics, but you seem pretty calm about it all things considered. Good attitude to have, and at least you are OK. Here's to a speedy recovery and having her good as new soon.

Sorry to hear about your car. One of my favorites. I can see the crash in my head, I know exactly how it happened. Almost happened to me in the NSX a couple years ago & since then I always stop whenever theres a wall of cars to my left and an opening to go into an entrance to my right. I always anticipate a car looking to turn in.
