This is how I want my "ish" build thread 1997 NSX

Okay peeps... the tear down started yesterday... and thanks to Brian and Judi, I was able to borrow some interior black trim for my split interior idea. This will only be temporary but my plan is for the color to be split right down the middle with oem red on one side and oem camel on the other. To pull this off, I needed to make the armrest lower and dash lower black. After doing some research, I purchased some leather/vinyl spray coloring. My carpet from TFEnt also arrived which was the primary reason I was able to start this project so soon. Thanks Tom. The carpet I went with is color #41 which is the closest to the oem red trim. Hard to describe in photos, but its a tomato w/brown color. I am also taking this time to install my pedals from SoS which were another unexpected PITA install.

Here are some photos of the spray dye I used and the results. My next post will show more progress photos of the carpet install. I need to run back out there right now though and finish up what I can.

In case you are wondering why the spray dye and not just buy the black dashboard and black armrest. Well, you can't buy just the leather for the dashboard, you gotta buy the entire dash and its $$$$. I could have bought the black/red arm rest, but then it wouldnt match the dashboard. I am having someone color match the tan doors to the oem red, but having him do my dashboard would require me to leave my car there and I dont want to do all that.

Wait... you are doing only the driver side red and leaving the passenger side tan?:eek:

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you... the 2-face NSX!!! MWAHAHAHA!!! :devilish:

Carpet review... the carpet was molded pretty good.. any installation issues would really fall back on the installer. There was a funky corner, the driver side left rear corner did not want to sit down right and was moulded that way so there really wasnt anything I could do. If any of you buy TFEnt carpet for the OEM red interior, as mentioned before #41 is the only way to go. So I pulled both carpet parts from the drivers side and lined them up with the TFEnt carpet. Lots of cutting, staple pulling, and then using the staple gun to add staples allowed me to use the plastic side framing the OEM carpet has. I would highly suggest that everyone take the same route.

This of course aided the install but it was still no walk in the park. I decided since I removed the carpet I might as well install the billet alum SoS pedals. That was a MAJOR PITA  and took at least two hours from me. You have to drill through the steel just to mount.

So this gives me an opportunity to complain a little bit about the carpet. Its a large loop which is plenty plush, but it needs to be tighter between loops. As you can see above, the carpet backing itself is visible. These spots are few and far between but they are there.

Okay, enough talk, here are a few install photos. I have a few more passenger parts to order in red and then I will take the doors off and have them color matched. For now, I am happy with the two tone interior.

That color combo is absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to see the final product !

Okay, we are now 80% done with the interior..I still need a couple more rear bulkhead pieces and still need to get my doors color matched. The passenger side went a little more smoothly because there were no pedals to worry about. However, I did run into a major PITA spot on the passenger A/C vent. It has a screw inside but it is also blocked by another part, a large part. I had to take the dremel and grind away some of part that was in the way. Then, the outer passenger front corner gave me bigger fits than the drivers front left. Again, must be how it is molded. I had to get creative but I completed the task. The TFEnt floormats with the red trim I think compliment the rest of the interior great. Can't wait to get those doors done and the rear bulkhead finished. Maybe by the end of October, I can put down my deposit on the BBK's I am getting. Not looking forward to tomorrow as I am already feeling physically beat down.

Looks very nice as is! My BACK, thumbs, and shoulders hurt the next day after I swapped out my carpet.

Did you use silver plastidip on your center console or is it painted? I think I read that a few pages back.

Yup, that newer silver that they are selling worked great. Same for oem airbox cover. This fall im going to pull the center bezel and door handles and redo them. The center part needs structural repair.

Have you considering just dying the tan portion of the door panels black?!? It could work IMHO.

Looks fantastic. I am living my NSX dreams thru you brother

x2. Would actually match the sides of the dash and center console perfectly.

i think either/or red/black would work. are those zanardi mats? or would zanardi's not match?

No. I already have the oem red door lights and trunk release. It will look fine when done, trust me
