This is the first year I've owned my NSX, and I can't seem to see $1000 worth of stuff going on at NSXPO? What makes this such a desirable event?

I got the info in the mail, and all I'm really seeing of interest is the driving school, but you still need to pay an extra $100 if you're not registering for the entire event.

Can someone tell me what's going to be happening there that makes it such a worthwhile endeavor? Am I missing something? I figure I must be. I just don't know how a couple of days with 1 driving day and a bunch of days set up for theme parks being worth anything.

Please explain it to me.

Brian

Camaraderie, spending a week with a bunch of folks with the same passion as you, learning a lot about your car and doing tequila shots with me at the hotel bar and Japanese boilermakers at the sushi joint are more than enough to justify the expense.

I am with Brian on this. Doing tequila shots and japanese boiler makers(what is that btw?) shouldn't cost that much money! You can do that for the cost of the shots at any bar. I was looking forward to NSXPO, last christmas we had over 40 NSXs for the florida lunch, so I figured there would be loads of NSXs here in Orlando for NSXPO, I could meet some more owners and check out cars, mods etc. However the things I would like to go to/can go to are the vendor/technical meet and the drive, think that weekend thats all I can do, but I can't see paying $335 just to do those two things. I don't want to go to theme parks or tours, I live here, Orlando, and can do that whenever. Hell I could put $335 towards a mod on my car. But its all or none for the social event in which case I might be out as I can't justify paying $335 to go on a drive, which shouldn't cost anything as its on public roads and go check out vendors. I don't think I will be the only person thinking this way which might mean that less NSXs will be there than anticipated, which is a shame because I have always felt the more the merrier. How was it done in the past for social events? Just my $.02

I'm not going this year (sorry guys but Florida is a bit too far a drive for me) but I took my Dad to last year's NSXPO in AZ. I too originally choked on the cost but I have to be honest... we had an excellent time and in hindsight, the cost was well worth the time with my dad and other like minded car enthusiasts.

It was a worth while endeavor for us.

This will be my third NSXPO in a row and Ill never miss one. I not even bringing my car this year and didnt bring it last year in Phoenix. Its a great time. Im in NJ and wouldn't mind a little fun in the sun in a typically cold october. Im an NSX fanatic and love anyhting involving the car. Its nice to meet all the people you BS with on the forum. Its cool to see all the different NSX's and various mods (the month after XPO I typically spent the most on my car:redface: ) Its a blast and I dont think its $1000. Come along, you wont be sorry:wink:

I agree about wanting to meet people from the forum, put a name, screen and real name with a face so to speak. But you could do that over a drive or lunch for a lot less. Anyway I digress.

The reason for the reply is that in case you didn't know Orlando has some good fun at night too....good places to go out at night, clubs bars etc. If anyone needs/wants a recommendation on where to go let me know and I will try my best to give some good options depending on what you are looking for.

Ive never neen to Orlando before. Seems like a good time NSX stuff during the day, party at night:biggrin:

Especially if I decide to put a few of my "business assciates" up for a few nights in the hotel.

Consider it done. I heard Orlando has a lot of "working girls"

Half of them are police officers. It is a very escort unfriendly town.

ouch:frown:  Looking forward to a good sushi feast with a heavy dose of saki

There are a few great events and speakers that are going to be present. And, if you've never done boilermaker shots with Hugh you are truly missing out.

I can assure you that the value in attending NSXPO is not in doing boilermaker shots with Hugh.

First of all, it doesn't cost $1000, or even $335, so please stop stating figures that are not accurate. Assuming you sign up by August 26, it costs $295 to attend the weekend social activities from Thursday evening through Sunday, and another $60 if you sign up for the Wednesday activities. What do you get for that money? You get five banquet meals (good food, not rubber chicken), you get a really nice memento (have you checked out what was given away in previous years?), you get entertainment and interesting guest speakers (you'll make your car buddies envious when you tell them who was there), you get seminars and technical demonstrations and vendor booths, you get tours of the Kennedy Space Center and Fantasy of Flight, and if you sign up for Wednesday, you get a tour of Daytona with lunch, and a pizza dinner and go-karting in the evening. You also get to check out over 100 NSXs and meet 200 other NSX owners who are great people to hang out with, and also Hugh. The best value of all is the ability to make new NSX friends and, for those who have been to previous events, to see old NSX friends again.

Is that all it costs? No, there are other costs, to be sure. You need to pay for a hotel room. You can stay in the headquarters hotel for $139 a night, or you can find someone to split a room with you in the headquarters hotel for half that amount, and you can be in the center of all the action. If you don't want to stay there, you can also stay in any number of other hotels in the area. (Right now Hotwire is offering a two-star hotel in the vicinity for $27 a night, and Orbitz has a three-star for $59 a night.) And you need to pay for transportation there and back, whether you're driving or flying.

The track event has separate costs, for those who are interested in driving their NSX on the track at Sebring. It's $450 for the two-day track event, if you're also attending the social activities (otherwise it's $550). That is actually less than most similar events at Sebring, such as those run by Chin Motorsports.

If you've never been to an NSXPO before, and you'd like to get a better flavor for what goes on at the event, I suggest you check out some of the extensive descriptions of past NSXPOs in the FAQ:

NSXPO 2003 (Northern California)
NSXPO 2002 (Texas)
NSXPO 2001 (Wisconsin)
NSXPO 2000 (Georgia)
NSXPO '99 (Northern California)
NSXPO '98 (Ohio)

You can also search the forums for topics written following NSXPO 2005 (Arizona) and NSXPO 2004 (New York).

Every year, some people say that they're just not sure it's worth it. Then, after the event, attendees write a whole lot of posts about what a great time everyone had. And those people who decided not to go say the same thing, year after year: "I wish I had known it was going to be so much fun, I would have gone for sure!"

It is the most fun, by far, that you can have with your NSX. With your clothes on, anyway. ;)

Hope to see you there!

Of course, as the Kid said, and Ken has written many times before, it is also a LOT of fun without your NSX. And if things go well, there may not be clothes involved at all. PrePaid Ass anyone?:D

I have only missed one since I got my car in 2000, and I kick myself all the time for not going. I went to AZ last year without a car and had an absolute blast.

NSX'wuattt...

Downtown Orlando's Church St. Station, Tampa's yBor City, Miami's South Beach & Coconut Grove... fabulous nitely outings for some nocturnal fun, but of-course after allocating a mini-van!

Kennedy Space Center is awesome for the "Monster_(whatever)" geek in all of us, and Cape Canaveral being near Coco Beach makes it even better!

Daytona Motor Speedway is a structure on such a grande` scale, it leaves all observers in awe. They got great video/entertainment gaming-simulators, last time I was there. And nearby Daytona Beach allows cars to cruise on the beach (5mph max' limit enforced!), great photo'ops.

St. Augustine, approx. 45mins from Daytona (?) is an old Spanish fort/settlement, perhaps amongst the oldest existing townes in the US. Excellent scenery, Colombian-era architecture & dwellings, port, etc'.

Orlando also has the Designer Premium Outlets that features couture-type high'end shoppes/boutiques only otherwise found in the outlets of Desert Hills CA and Woodbury Commons NY (ie. Tod's, GA, Chanel, Gucci, Valentino, Escada, Versace, etc'...).

Of-course, College football dictates the weekend statewide in Florida...

I'm considering becoming a sponsor and if that happens the above statement will be meaningless.

No one really goes to church street station, do however go to the other bars/clubs that are on church street, latitudes(roof top bar - casual)/big belly/chillers, antigua, dragon room, club 23, makos. Also may seem some nice cars valeted on church street. There are other ones near by such as wallstreet, sky bar(another roof top bar witha miami flair). Blue Martini is a nice bar too, little pretentious though, but this is not downtown more upscale, good chance of seeing some nice exotics.

Ken,

I apologize for misquoting the price, it was not my intent to put up inaccurate information. I also did not know about the dinners as I don't think that is explicitly stated in the flier. So thank you for explaining that! I do think the comradarie is worth a lot, but at this time I can not commit due to my travel schedule so I may not know if I can or can't go, until closer to the date:frown:

Still like to meet some guys out for a beer or sushi, there are some excellent sushi restaurants in town to.

Downtown Shari(personal favorite), Amura, Ichiban
I-Drive Ren Getsu (is OK to me but some people love it)
Fuji Sushi is good too.

In the mailing, the registration form is accompanied by the brochure, which gives a lot of the details. Without the brochure, it's a lot harder to tell what's included.

When we get the registration website up, both the form and the brochure will be available for download.

Also, the "early bird discount" price is in smaller type on the registration form. (It has to be.) The registration website will automatically calculate the appropriate fee based on when you're using it.

Hope you can make it!

blavenia: at NSXPO'05 at AZ, both NSXBOX and myself flew from AUSTRALIA... and while some of our costs were covered, it was still an expensive trip. Was it worth it? YES!!!!!! :D :D :D

Money can't buy experiences like this: dozens of people who share the same passion about the NSX, and let's not forget being able to walk around million dollars of pure NSX... its heaven. It really is.

I don't go to strip clubs. I made a promise to someone about that so don't expect me to tag along to any tittie bars in Orlando.
