Where are all the Production deliveries ??

I have an RLX loaner while the NSX gets a new windshield.

It does not have a cheap interior.

My issues are the typical FWD turning radius, not a sporty drive and the electronics are the least intuitive of any Honda product I have ever been in.

Nice comfy highway cruiser, solid build, lots of stitched leather on the lower dash area, electric folding mirrors (are you reading this Turd?).

For Acura's sake it's a good thing you are disagreeing with me. I still think it's cheap feeling.

I really do believe the RLX is well built. It's the only car we have left that's still made in Japan. But I'm not all company man here. I also believe that fit and finish on the NA1/NA2 was better that what I've seen on the NC1 despite it being assembled in a state of the art facility. I believe that the Alabama built MDX has some of the worst quality issues I've ever seen in any Honda product ever. Soichiro Honda should be rolling over in his grave over how bad they've let things become with what that plant produces.

I cannot validate the complete stop but I can support that the factory has "adjusted" output to support demand as told to me by regional sales directors here on the west coast. Therefore, i'm not surprised they decided to shut down the plant entirely.

It will be interesting to see if they re-evaluate before doing the 2018s. They are fully aware the dealers caused this debacle by overpricing the cars, not adhering to wait lists, taking dealer orders ahead of customers, taking a higher bidder, etc. Now we see over 200 cars still listed for sale as we enter selling season. I wonder how long before drastic price drops are regular occurrences (I do know of one that sold for dealer invoice - a/k/a dealer making only the $2k holdback on the vehicle).

I'm curious if dropping the price would yield more sales/profit in the long run. At this rate it's just a drag on the P&L. I don't know their financial model being this is a specialized factory setup for custom orders but i'm hoping they are considering dropping the price. It's a GREAT car at perhaps a 20% or more discount. $0.02.

I've said it before but I expected more out of the EV side of the car. I think someone will admit they missed the goal there when interviewed in 20yrs :)

WOW ~ car car sold at invoice is hard to believe! Must be a dealer in a small town or smaller buyer population...

Wife actually likes this car since she is all about hyper-mile and getting decent fuel economy! Maybe she will pick one up when the price gets down a bit more :)

not hard to believe for me. maybe the dealership agreed to it for a long time Acura buyer. maybe they wanted the floor space back instead of locking it up with a not moving NSX. Maybe they thought the halo effect isn't working as planned. Maybe it's like the majority of dealers here in Socal.. they have 2 or maybe 3 already still unsold. I think it's just a matter of time before pricing is adjusted. basic economics of supply and demand wins.

hey Regan, I should re-phrase, it's not hard to believe nor should it be surprising given the inventory at the moment. Just a bit of a shock primarily from hearing all the dealers wanting $50k over MSPR to Invoice, that is quite a stretch in a very short time frame for a new car release!

In talks with a few out of state dealers who sounded very motivated to sell their cars on the lot, they have moved upwards of $10k off MSRP on a few cars already so this price drop is inevitable.

Little off topic but the wife just had the mdx in for a timing belt service and she said the showroom had cars that look exactly the same as 7 years ago. Sure sounds like Acura of late to me.

It's too bad they didn't let you drive the REAL RLX, the Sport Hybrid. ;)

Looks like my local dealer is getting a NSX from another dealer....I was called yesterday and asked if I was interested. My local dealer seems to be moving them pretty easily. I don't know how many they've sold, but from what I can tell, they're doing OK. I'm not yet ready....but I appreciate being thought of. Besides, I'm just finally getting my current NSX into nice shape. I'd like to enjoy it awhile.

I'm waiting for a killer lease deal on the NSX. Until then I'll wait five more years and pick one up on the used market.

I'm also on my second RLX-PAWS, and I love it as my DD for work. For less money, the RLX offers so much more than a comparable 5 series or E-class.

The update

Acura won the Copart auction for the wrecked one.
They have to get it back to Torrance and then will watch Pilot pick up a toasted car for return to the factory.
If a car is damaged from PMC to a dealer, repairs are done at the local shop. PMC folks are not body shop people.
The specialist was surprised how much my windshield replacement cost. The biggest hit are some multi-part garnishes on both sides.
They do not know how many dealers are doing the demo cars.
Dealers are still heavy into ordering for themselves. Acura is more stressed about the program than the dealers appear to be.
No lease deals coming.
Not many cars have been seen on the streets, including in CA and that surprised them.
A few more folks are reporting issues with infotainment (ex. streamed music dropping off).

well at least most of the fleebay ads now have asking prices south of 200k...

the infotainment issue is carplay/android auto as opposed to an acura issue, correct?

we declined to participate in the demo program. we have only 1 car on the ground (vin #299 went out weds), so it wouldn't make sense. we're waiting for the test drive event instead.

i dont think its dealers are purposely ordering for themselves, as opposed to no wait list, so they're somewhat forced to configure a car on their own.

they dont want to give up allocations. we turned 1 down. my GM didn't want to chance having 3 sitting on the lot.

i think they're hoping interest grows. the test drive program should help.

I believe it is the no giving up an allocation thing.

Remember, these are dealerships that are used to selling what they have on the lot.

They are likely not set up to reach out to potential customers, build their interest and create an order book.

Instead of passing over their allocation if they have no buyer and allowing the factory to allocate cars to customers still waiting to order, you end up with a bunch of cars unsold and people still waiting for their cars. Yeah, the dealers totally screwed up the system. Not sure what Acura can do legally, but I am not shedding any tears over the dealers' short-sightedness. Here's to hoping the lose a ton of money on those unsold cars. May they rot in hell.

nothing acura will do. acura doesn't know if the order is an actual customer order or a dealer configuration. acura doesn't care that there's 300 unsold units. dealers paid for them so it on the dealers now.

6 stores in CA have (3) on the ground. the flooring charge on those must be ridiculous.
9 have (2) on the ground
14 have (1) on the ground.

I don't think four on the floor is excessive. Three on the tree didn't provide enough ratios to get the most out of modern engines. Frankly, I can see a valid argument for 5, 6 or even 7 gears. But no more. That would be excessive.

But I still don't understand the rationale about not passing up an allocation if there are already 50 collecting dust just in California. Taking more allocations just means more unsold NSXs. If you can't sell what you already have, why add more?
