Thanks. It became apparent once I looked at it. The threads were too far gone to restore with a 6mm tap, but a 1/4-20 (gasp) worked. At some point, I'll heli-coil it back to 6mm to keep it authentic...

Crazy price, plus they don't fix the problem. It's the inserts in the bumper that are damaged... Thanks anyway.

What if the female-threaded insert in the bumper is trashed? Can you get to that area to repair or replace the insert?

We're in again this year. Had a blast in 2007.

I'm sending my paperwork in today. We went last year as our first-ever NSX event, and really enjoyed it, although we had to drive through a biblical downpour to get there Thursday night... It was very well run, with great food and conversation. Oh - and great racing, too!

Like so many others have said, Dianne and I would like to add our thanks to the organizers and members for extending a warm welcome to us "newbies". We were so intent on not missing a thing that we drove up Thursday night (through the MONSOON - thank God the new Kumhos worked well underwater)...

#2793 in July 1991. 22,000 miles and going strong. :biggrin: (Both window regulators replaced/repaired, though....:frown: ) <edit> OK - Now that I think about it, there was a timing belt (age, not miles), an A/C freon changeover, and an oil pressure sender/gauge as well....

Re-packing the inner joint did the trick - No noise whatsoever now. (Thanks, Larry!) Now I just have to negotiate the $327 labor charge..... Bad news is that the transmission # is 3851.....

Driveshaft is being regreased and re-installed. Joint rollers, grease - everything looked brand-spanking new. The dealer's (new) service writer now regards me with absolute fear. He insisted that the car needed BOTH driveshafts replaced and refused to discount the parts by even a penny. When...

Well, 2 weeks later, were back to where we started. They (finally) took the right side apart, and maintain that it cannot be repaired - only replaced. They also say that the left side "has play as well, and will not last much longer". I have told them that I want the area Service Rep involved...

Well - THAT opened a lively discussion. Looks like WCC is about 50 minutes from my house. I have access to mounting/balancing at work, so I can bring bare wheels to them. They are used, chromed 16"/17" Fittipaldi's that I picked up for $300, so it's not like I have a lot invested in them so...

I am in Reading, PA (near Philadelphia). Can anyone recommend a straightening service within drop-off distance? I hate to spend a million bucks sending 4 wheels to CA... Thanks in advance!
