    Watkins Glen 8/30-8/31

GVC of BMWCCA (great group, BTW) is having a 2-day DE at WGI this week. Just wondering if anyone here will be going.

    Insurance that covers track events?

That is my take as well. Some of the PCA sponsored events take attendance during the classroom sessions even for highest run group and instructors. I view that particular practice as potentially useful in the event of an "incident" during one of the drivers ed sessions.

Anyone heading to LRP on the 17th?

Hello Jerome, I think Peter Mills and a few others would be better able to answer your question as I drive an Esprit. I come to this board as I find this group to be a friendly and very helpful one on many different fronts. Hope to see you there somewhere down the road. Paul (formerly of...

Anyone heading to LRP on the 17th?

CVA Chapter of PCA has their first DE on the 17th & 18th at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut. Anyone else planning to be there? Weatherman hinted that there might be some "white stuff" on Friday - at least in RI, so have to wonder whether it will take place at all.

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup vs. Toyo RA-1

Ken, again thanks for the tip with Frisby. I do the same- the benefit of having a few sets of wheels. For any interested parties in the Northeast, here is a brief list of DE events in the coming months: 3/17-18 Lime Rock Park with CVR chapter of PCA http://www.pca.org/news/calendar.asp 3/27 -...

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup vs. Toyo RA-1

Nope - for that very reason and because I will use them in the wet and Hoosiers in the dry when I tow the car to the track.

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup vs. Toyo RA-1

Thanks for all of the advice and souces for tires. Went with RA-1s and got them from Todd at Frisby per Ken's recommendation. Great price and will be shipping out today. Again thanks.

Should have mentioned the car in my original post

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup vs. Toyo RA-1

Thanks for the advice, experience and link. Your right, the beauty  of tires is that they wear out giving you the chance to try something else. As far as OEM sizes, in fact for V8 Esprit, Dunlop SP 9000 in 235/40-17 and 285/35-18 or optional (stock on Sport 350) Pirelli P-Zero in...

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup vs. Toyo RA-1

Thanks apapada. I had read those reviews on the TireRack site and just wanted a bit more info if anyone had experience with both brands. I got a chuckle reading the review from the guy who said of the Cups "They're black and round, otherwise bear no resemblance to tires ..." Both seem to need...

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup vs. Toyo RA-1

Thanks John. Did you or he get a sense of grip & handling differences between the two? Any experience with either in the wet? Again, my thanks.

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup vs. Toyo RA-1

Wasn't certain if this was more fitting here or on the Tire/Wheel forum, but... Kumho no longer makes the V700 in the sizes I need, nor does Dunlop. Hoosiers are great, of course, but only when I tow the car to the track. For DE events, any opinions from those who have used both?

    Mosport Canada

I have gone to DE events organized by GVC BMWCCA and they too are top notch, professional, safe and fun. In fact, theirs is among the best BMWCCA sponsored events I have been to. I've never been to Mosport, but I will do my best to go this year with GVC.

    SCDA schedule starts soon (Northeast)

Ian runs a good ship - I have enjoyed his DE schools for a number of years. Excellent classroom instruction as well. Because it isn't marque-specific, there is a great variety of cars with power/weight/handling differences on the track simultaneously - great opportunity to learn different lines...

Yes! Now this forum is where it belongs!

I though it was just me - had to look in a different place seemingly every day. Now just have to wait for the weather here in the NE to warm up enough for the tracks to open. March isn't too far away ...
