    world's best carmaker, overall

Audi would be on my list. Their range is pretty broad, and has class-leaders in most categories: small to mainstream cars and SUVs (gas and TDI) to sporty cars (S/RS), up through the R8. Good balanced focus of engineering and ergonomics. If that's not enough they have Lamborghini.

    Ferrari-458 real life pictures

more details from the owners site The Ferrari 458 Italia is a completely new car from every point of view: engine, design, aerodynamics, handling, instrumentation and ergonomics, just to name a few. A two-seater berlinetta, the Ferrari 458 Italia, as is now traditional for all Ferrari’s...

    F1 2009 megathread

absolutely... we had to pleasure to meet him in Maranello in early 2005, as part of a factory owners' club tour. He was still an up-and-coming test driver - a quite, nice guy eating lunch in the corner. Our prayers for a speedy recovery, Felipe...

    F1 2009 megathread

Massa's crash in qualifying this morning was pretty bad - nose-first into the tire barrier at 120 mph. Kinda brought back memories of Imola in 1994. Hopefully he recovers OK... ############ on another note, a lot of "silly season" rumors going around: - Alonso to Ferrari - Kimi back to...

Honda to pull out of F1?

comment in WSJ article was interesting Was hoping that some relevant F1-related innovations would find their way into road cars. Honda has fallen behind in materials (CF/composites) and advanced brake, suspension and transmission technology, particularly against the German constructors. The...

    Spain Anybody?

Have been driving around Spain the past week - Barcelona, Valencia, Marbella/Malaga, Cadiz, Sevilla - on to Madrid tomorrow. So far have seen 0 NSXs (or any fancy exotics for that matter) A few P911 and Boxsters is about it thus far.

New Blackberry Bold vs iPhone 3G?

this model was released by AT&T on 11/11 as the "FUZE". Unfortunate that HTC (and most high-end WinMo devices) have dropped support for Blackberry Connect ( ). Same for phones like the Nokia E71. A slider phone with landscape screen and wider keyboard would been a great Blackberry...

New Blackberry Bold vs iPhone 3G?

if unlocked, the phone should work with a TMO SIM card. Voice service should be OK, possibly better depending on area. The 3G iPhone runs a tri-band "3G data" chip operating at 850/1900/2100Mhz. The US 3G network frequencies are: - AT&T : 850/1900 MHz - TMO : 1700/2100 MHz (1700 up and 2100...

    Any Nissan Z fans here?

some of the new announcements from the LA Auto Show about the new 370Z (and Infiniti G37) are kinda interesting, particularly their new 6-speed with "synchronized downshift rev matching" - essentially automating the throttle blip The driver uses the shifter and clutch as usual, except that the...

ATT "Fuze" (HTC Touch Pro) due out this Friday 10/7

I run IE, Opera and Skyfire on my WM6 Treo 750, and each has their respective features, but no "decent mobile" one yet... there are some test versions of Safari for WM5/WM6 floating around; if they are comparable to the one on the iPhone, they may be the one. My work blackberry was recently...

    F1 2009 megathread

the usual suspects (red/silver) will figure this year, but: - KUBICA in a competitive car = WDC contender - ALONSO and Renault making a run for # 3 and Honda F1 results will delay the next-gen NSX at least another 2-3 years

    Gave up on Honda...

Jeff - congrats on the great ride !! Am a fan of the R8 as well; and I think its a logical 'next step' from the NSX, given that Honda has given up, and effectively watered down "the dream". The coming V10 R8 should answer the power criitics, at least till the next round of hp wars...
