1st Gear Resistence

I experience resistence when shifting into first when the car is in neutral and is coasting at around 5 mph.

Is this normal? Does the transmission have a lock-out feature to prevent the driver from shifting into 1st when the car is moving at a certain speed?

Any comments appreciated. Thanks!

That is normal...hub selector is spinning I believe. Blip your gas and put slight pressure on the shifter going into 1st and it should slip right in (clutch down of course).
