6 years of fun - from stock gpw NA2 with pop ups to CTSC NA2 NSX R

In 2003 i started my search for a na2 nsx. I knew i wanted a grand prix white / black 6 speed NA2 nsx and i wanted pop up head lights. The problem was that about 7 or so of these cars were built between 1997 and 2001.


Around june / july of 2003 i found what i was looking for a clean GPW na2 nsx, 6 speed with onyx interior. Here it is at the dealership

In late 2003 the car is pictured here safe at home in front of my house, stock ride height wheels etc. I thought the car was perfect at this point.

in early 2004 moved on to try to upgrade the appearance

still working on the look... in early 2005 i had changed the following

added brembo gt brakes (red front and rear)

then added
white tecnomagnesio wheels
nsx-r wing

in the rear i had added jdm dark tail lights
tubi exhaust
nsxr dry cf wing (procar) concept style -- no brakelight

still working on the look

decided to change to 02 rear valence
had to temporarily switch back to stock exhaust while waiting for arc titanium exhaust. (so at this point we had gone stock, then comptech, then tubi then stock, and awaiting arc)

later in 2005

finally starting to go in the right direction
- arc titanium exhaust installed
- comptech pro suspension
- volk ce 28's in hipad setup in titanium gunmetal to clear the brembo gt red brakes

this is the first nsx meet at premier auto group (Cars and cofee in irvine) i still had the gt brembos and the pre 02 front end

late 2005 added nsx-r steering wheel, horn button, and nrg quick release

then added nsx -r pedals

in early 2006 decided to change the brakes again to comptech / powertech, billed brembo "indy" gtr brakes front and rear with brembo parking brake

in 2007 decided that i really liked the fixed 02+ headlights and the nsx-r front look.

so i purchased and an authentic dry cf honda na2 nsx-r hood from japan (thanks rjp)
with ramons help we removed the windshield wipers, motors, windshield washer tank,

i replaced the heavy front bumper beam with a procar aluminum one weighing less then 2lbs, used procar billed cnc machined headlight brackets. and all brand new oem honda parts (headlights, bumpers, hids every nut and bolt to completely rebuilt the front bumper setup

the hood, screen, trim etc are all oem honda

march 2008 honda tuning decided that they would shoot the car as a cover car

this was a FAILED photo shoot the first time. honda tunings photographer did not like the location

may 2008 .. the car finally made the cover of honda tuning along with the spoon car

thanks to aron bonk, henry, tan and others at honda tuning for putting this together!!

somewhere along the line ramon and i had added na2 nsx-r gauges, and shift lights (that work -they flash green at 7300 rpm and red at 7800 rpm) surrounded by an honda na1 nsxr cf guage surround (the na1 type r cf guage surround was carbon fiber and matches the na2 gauges, note we used the na2 red guage rings with the na1 cf surround)

Finally,

i would like to thank lud for creating such a great community of which we can all share and learn..the only downside for me is without this site i sure would have saved a lot of dough as i would not have the information to undertake this project!!

Ramon at niguel moters is the best mechanic and one of the nicest guys you will everr meet. Southcoast acura for the fun monthly meets and the whole socal nsx community is in my opinion the greatest. i sure have enjoyed the last 6 years of nsx ownership and look forward to the next

I remember posting this picture years ago, as part of a set, on a BMW forum - there were dozens of compliments directed at this car, and few towards the other cars pictured.

The roof color is an option on the nsx-r, coupes typically have their roof painted black, but you can order the nsx-r with a paint-matched roof, or in different colors.

It's cool to see pictures of the car before I met you, thank you for sharing the progression of your build; All top-notch components on a no-compromise car, it's difficult to overstate how clean this nsx is.
