Please post the step by step process as i enjoy reading those the most.
Also, another mod you might find interest in doing is creating a more JGTC like wheel well. If you notice, the ones they have are more like 3/4 circles that follow the curve of the tire rather than just a 1/2 circle like on most cars.
I'll edit this post later and post a pic of what i'm talking about if it is not understood.
I understand what you are eluding to. Several people have mentioned this point to me over the years.
The kit from Dome on the Super GT cars does visibly cut up higher into the fender line. Specific to their application, it affords them clearance given their tarmac scraping super low ride height and larger 18" wheels & slicks.
Frankly, their are so many more pressing performance considerations with wheels, tires, and suspension setup IMO it is an an intractable issue to obtain the same aestetic results as with the Super GT cars and still retain even a *minimal* manner of street ability, (even if that is defined as only being driven just to and from a race track once a month), nor best performing election. Obviously if you cut the fender higher, the OD needs to remain unchanged, and the overall ride height must decrease by a comparable degree as well to appear balanced.
If you go with a smaller OD, you don't require it any more hub center line to fender clearance past what exists on most of the wide body kits. I've tried many different wheel/tire combinations and if needed my body can literally be set right on the ground with less than 5/8" of front end clearance given certain wheel/tire combos and ride height settings. Cutting the fender liner higher would aggrevate that scenario even further.
Unneccessary for most real-world applications, I push a slightly larger outter diameter on the street and ride height for a combination of drive-ability, balance, and personal preference.
In short, once my winning mega-millions ticket presents itself, I'll be sure to circumvent this point entirely and show up at the next NSXPO with a semi loaded with the Team Mugen Racing Super GT NSX, Team Corn Mcclaren F1, or the like and everything will be just perfect.
