Aston Martin DBS Test Drive

Aston Martin of Newport Beach invited me down to drive the new DBS. I was really surprised at how fun it was the drive! The steering, brakes, clutch, gas, and shifting were "light" and "responsive". So the DBS felt really light on its feet- even though the car weighs 3700 lbs.

The typical Aston has a relatively heavy feel to the steering.

How did you get the invite? I want to drive the DBS!

I bought a Vantage from that dealership and got to know the manager a little bit.

The car was a blast to drive- much more fun than my Vantage!

So all I have to do is buy a Vantage and schmooze the GM? Never knew it would be so easy.

The brakes were awesome. Incredible feel- way better than the Vantage and the 360. It has better overall feel than the Stradale I think (the brakes).

The one I drove was a technically a prototype. The MSRP is approximately $268k.

I don't think I schmoozed the GM- he just knew that I was a serious car buff and he invited whomever he thought was a potential customer. They had at least two cars there from Aston Martin corporate just for these test drives.

wow:eek: now thats a car company, they send out some prototypes for test drives, you should tell them you need a whole weekend test drive to make your decision:biggrin:

Could you tell the noticeable difference from the regular DB9 - trying to get your thoughts on whether the DBS is worth the premium over the DB9.

I happend to think that the AM DBS is exactly the kind of car that Aston Martin stands for.

I would like very much to see a nice comparison with the NSX (and Vantage). And I am sure I am not the only one

I didn't test drive one, but I did shoot one.

I'll post my pics soon.

I think Clarkson said it was a DB9 where everything was a bit better. I've never driven a DB9. The price difference is huge between the two cars however.
