Billet Aluminum Overflow Reservoir

So, a few years ago I thought I'd replace my oem coolant tank because it was plastic and it might fatigue. I went in on a group buy and picked the the cool silver/chrome one with a plastic clear sight tube running vertically up the tank.
It's now leaking very slowly at the base and I'm curious about a couple of things;
Has this happened to anyone else?
What is a good solution to repair this?

buy a new OEM one before you damage the engine

I bought the same one from SOS years ago, developed the same leak at one of the bottom seams, sent it back to them they had it re-welded, no charge, but would not redo the powder coat
I bought some high temp paint and sprayed it myself.
