Re: ****Chicago crowd****Organizing a drive w/ the Elise crowd

I'm in

Brian

Oh YEAHHHHH Brian... we've got an Orange Elise to pair you up with

You've seen one around? Thought all were crushed due to extreme ugliness:eek:

Depending on the weekend, I might want to join.

Let's do this!

Have you talked to Ty yet Val? We could really use his camera skills on this one.

What weekend? Can we do this near the end of August? Like maybe Aug. 25th?

Oh yeah, and the car PC is pretty sweet Val.

I'm in for this - just need to know a date and time! I'm already downtown, but may drive out depending on the arrangements. I'll stay tuned.

im in. which weekend?

The numbers are rising. The date just needs to get decided. Everyone committing needs to make this happen to have an awesome gathering.

The Lambos and Ferraris came out to the Streets of Woodfield last Sat. and every car came out to see

I think with our numbers committing, this gathering will be a good summer event. I am having issues getting with the elise crowd. I think we can represent with pure NSX here if you guys don't mind.

Lets plan on Aug. 25th.

players are:

valenzul
Paul
Vtechjulio
Frank O.
Brian
Rocco
Sean

what do you know... lucky 7!

Might need some suggestions for places to tour.
I've got my routes, but you might bring up interesting places too?!
I was thinking of cruising from Schaumburg to Lake Shore to Downtown and Strats. With bathroom breaks in-between:biggrin:
I'll plan it out with maps. Also, its quite good to bring your FRS radio if you have one.
Again, please mark your calendar and only weather or family emergencies will stop you from coming.

The 25th will be OK, but I won't be able to make it until later that night. I'd have to meet you guys up somewhere.

Re: Chicago drive Aug.25th (3 routes)

I need someone to check out one of the drive spots.

We will be going three places. From Northwest burbs to the northeast lakeshore and finally ending up downtown. I'll post maps tomorrow. After each drive spot, we will meet at a gathering spot just in case people get lost or you were not able to make the prior drive.
We're gonna start out 6pm and take a photoshoot in the end downtown.
I need someone near the Elgin area to check out the route for me near there.
I'm familiar w/ the other two spots already.
The 1st one is supposed to be the best out of the three. I just need a confirmation it is the right spot and if it is worth it.

Re: Chicago NSX drive

ok rather than reinventing the wheel. It is much easier and might be more fun to join a group that tours the Elgin area. They already have the 'route' in place and it is supposed to be a very fun and challenging drive. There are supposed to be some Gallardos, F355, and 911 that are to join. We can branch out later and then do our 2nd and 3rd drives with the fellow NSX owners.

So, here's the first meeting.

Schedule:

5:30pm - 6:30pm Meet at Streets (by Dick's)
6:30pm - 7:00pm Drive to Meijer
7:15pm - 7:30pm Driver's meeting
7:30pm - 8:15pm Cruise Teh Ring
8:15 pm -??:??pm FOOD (Culverizing) [NSX crew going to 2nd and 3rd route]

More cruising after food.

(5:30pm - 6:30pm) Streets of Woodfield (Schaumburg)
Map:

(In the map, the oval represents where we should try to meet. (If that area is pretty full, the spaces closer to the frontage road/highway will also work. BTW, for reference the square is $tarbuck$. If the area in front of frontage road is full, please meet on the other side of Dick's sporting goods (circled in blue), closest to the corner of Martingale and Woodfield Rd--the road inbetween Streets and the Main Woodfield Mall.)

Weather: (weather.com | accuweather)

(7:00pm - 7:30pm) 815 S. Randall Rd Elgin, IL 60123
Google map
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/138/meijermeetsz1xx1.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>
Directions:
Take 90 west, exit Randall rd and make a left.
Follow Randall south for about 5 miles.
Make a left on College green drive. (you'll see a large Meijer sign and an ELGIN water tower)
Make a quick right into the Meijer parking lot.

Notes for the area:

- Be careful on Randall rd. There tends to be a fair amount of rice activity on Randall so the PO is always watching.
- Since the cruise route is largely wooded, be on the lookout for wildlife!

From the new meet location we'll be driving 4 miles to "t3h ring", a 12 mile loop with plenty of twists and elevation changes

<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/9305/compton1lghz3ro8.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>

This can be a very challenging drive so be sure to read (click the article): The Pace

Winnetka drive cancelled.<br/>
I just finished surveying the route and there are just too many obstacles after the storm. Many big branches down on the road and there are some big 'puddles' everywhere that will just make the drive not so fun

2nd drive
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/7756/twisty3nk5.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>
This is the Lower Wacker drive ending the night and cruise. We'll settle down at the Dominicks parking lot on Roosevelt and Canal.

I AM VERY EXCITED! I hope everyone joining Sat. feel the excitement too! Please PM me if you need my contact number, in case you miss any of these and still want to meet. Also, please try to bring an FRS radio

So we are going from Streets then 40 min to Elgin then 1 hr to Winnetka and then 30 min down to the city? Is there going to be a fill up scheduled at any time of the night! We are covering some miles here!

The Drive out west of Elgin is where we are going to have the most fun. The Roads out there are great, non residential, higher speed limits (55mph) twists, turns and elevation just outside of the fox valley and then out towards plato-burlington-wasco-etc.
and I have been driving out there since I turned 16 (grew up in Elburn)

Thanks for organizing this meet ill probably stick around till yall head to the northshore, I can't wait!

This is where the FRS radio comes into play. Plus, the fill up should really occur before the 1st drive.

how is the flooding in elgin?

Hey Val. I'll be out of town and coming back early Saturday evening so I won't be able to make this event. However, I'm very close to Roosevelt & Canal and would like to catch you all at the end of the drive. Can I get your number to stay in touch? I may be able to get there first and try to carve a spot out.

This brings to mind another question. If we start at 6pm, is there still going to be enough light for photos downtown? Or are we planning on night shots?

Night Shots primarily. If you see some of the shots that was done with the sears towers in the background you will like.
