Ever had a bad shock on 2005?

Just got my car aligned and it drives 100% better than it did. However, its still a bit "floaty" up front. The PO had 19s all around on it.

Is it possible I have a worn out shock with 10k miles?

Before I take it to the stealership for a joyride I wanted to get your thoughts.

Thanks!

I think if you are running 19's up front and you hit a hard pothole or two you can cause some damage. I mean a shock won't wear that quick but you can cause suspension damage with rubber band tires like that.

I've not heard of oem shocks failing acutely, just loosing compression slowly over time.As stated your 19 in front tires are extreme, what size are they?

The car HAD 19s on it. It has the OEM 17s on now. 19s were on for about 8k miles.

Just had an alignment and didn't see any damage of any kind. Its not that bad, but its not 100%. At least I dont think so.

I am going to ask a local owner to drive mine for comparison.

I know this sounds basic, but have you checked the tire pressures? Incorrect pressures can really do a number on steering feel. I know from experience. Overinflated tires specifically can give that "floaty" feel you are talking about. Make sure the tires are also in good shape. If the shocks are not leaking and they are not cluncking going over bumps, with 10K on the clock I think they are probably fine. I's also make sure the alignment was done right. I have seen screwups there before, believe me.

My 92 has that floaty feeling, Ive been running 18/19 since 2005 and the hard NJ's roads have taken it's toll. My 05 has almost 30k without any issues what-so-ever:wink: Never seen an 05 shock go bad but most of them have under 20k miles.
