This link was posted in another thread, but I thought a lot of you might enjoy it. Pretty strong talk about the NSX from Takeo Fukui. It sure doesn't sound like someone who wants to kill the NSX program to me!

February 26. HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD announced today its motorsport plans for the 2005 season.In Super GT, the company will participate in GT 500 with its 'Honda NSX-GT project', running 4 cars from three teams, receiving the cooperation of M-TEC and Dome.
Managing Director, Mr Takeo Fukui commented: 'We want to put the humiliation of last year behind us, and have a newly-developed NSX with which we will compete this season. To increase the number of our fans, we will put in a great effort at events. We are eager to show everyone exciting racing this year.'
Last year's Dome Racing and ARTA teams will this season run under one banner: Team Honda Racing. Aguri Suzuki, representative of the outfit for this project explains: 'What ran as two separate teams last season, we will operate as one team this year.' The other two cars are run by Nakajima Racing and Team Kunimitsu.
As for the drivers, the ARTA NSX of Team Honda Racing has Daisuke Ito joined by newcomer Jonathan Cochet, while Takeshi Kogure joins Ryo Michigami in the TAKATA Dome NSX. Tsugio Matsuda and Andre Lotterer continue their partnership from last year in the EPSON NSX, while Team Kunimitsu has a completely new line up, featuring the all-French combination of Sebastien Philippe (who competed in the TAKATA Dome NSX last year) and Jeremie Dufour, formerly in the SARD Supra.

Team Honda Racing representative Aguri Suzuki: 'This year, M-TEC, Dome and our laboratory (HONDA) have all made huge efforts in our goal for the 'Revival of a strong NSX' - particularly after such a disappointing result last season. As soon as you see the new car, you will readily understand our enthusiasm for it. The team will also be bolstered by the name, Honda Racing, and it is important for us that real progress is made this year. Our aim is for both the teams' and drivers' titles. As representative for Honda, I will be at all events this year. We are looking forward to your continued support.'
The cars will run the same V6 3-litre twin turbo engines as last season, with major improvements in the areas of chassis and aerodynamics.
Also the team's development driver, Team Honda Racing ace Ryo Michigami said: 'Last year was probably the hardest season we've ever had, though this year already development is going well and we are making progress. I think we're not far off having a winning machine, but we can't relax yet, there'll be more and more to do from here on. Naturally, I'd like our progress to come as quickly as possible. We want fans to again think 'Strong Honda' and to see we're back with a competitive package and are making progress. We should have at least 2 wins this year. Of course, all season long we'll be fighting for every single championship point. Our goal is the title.'

I know the GT500 NSX class is limited to 500HP but Im wondering how much torque that it have with a twin turbo, 500 too?
 
We need a NSX in the ALMS!!!! I am tired of the corvettes getting all the attention.
 
Wow, that looks hot. THAT should be the 2006 NSX. Twin-turbo, body-kit, and all.

Leave the NSX-R in JDM land. Give North America an NSX-GT!

And as mentioned in the NSX-R GT thread that car was made to make this car possible and nothing more.
 
I can hope that Honda wins the Super GT title and THEN decides to make a ~$150k production version. For the brand prestige and all that. No way I'll be able to afford anything like that in the forseeable future.

Considering they made a POS NSX-R GT that costs $500,000 and would get smoked by EVERY SINGLE SUPERCAR in the WORLD. I doubt it. :mad:

Epson became the new sponsor in 2004 of the Nakajima Racing NSX, which was formerly the Mobil 1 NSX you refer to. It was the white PAA NSX seen at the recent All Star GT Live at California Speedway.

And the Pics posted are great too of the new Dome Car.

When I was at the JGTC races last December, My buddy Derek and I met and made friends w/ the Takata teams interpreter. He is dating the team owners daughter. Anywho, after several emails w/ him in January, he mentioned the Chasis manufacturer Dome was at that time getting their new chasis (tub)design into production and testing. As you guys have mentioned, this should be good racing and exciting to see Honda dominate. Having a fully carbon tubbed NSX racecar in a US series to compete w/ the Corvette's will be a joy to see.

A street version would be outragous though, as the chassis all carbon. It would be similar in price to the Saleen twin turbo I bet. Besides, Dome only makes racecars. It would be fun though to buy an old retired racecar. I gurantee I would drive it more than my street car.

We (Derek, my Wife and I) did spend quite a bit of time talking to Andre' Lotterer, the driver of the Epson JGTC car and who won races in California. On both Saturday and Sunday after both races, He made mention of the sponsors changing roles depending on the location of the race. Marketing. The Mobil 1 car is indeed the same as the Epson/PIAA car. Of course they have more than one chasis (tub) to run each season.
