Infiniti Emerg-E vs. New NSX

The more options we have, the better. Oh wait, that's what made the NSX so 'special'. It will help keep prices down with more selection and less exclusivity.
Looks good minus the weird wheels 
I hope both of these cost less than half what the big boys are doing with their mid engine designs (Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren), because they don't look half as good. Hopefully the NSX concept gets better and actually grows its own identity rather than copying the r8. The Infiniti at least looks pure infinity in its design.
I don't want a hybrid sports car period, but just from a styling stand point the new NSX is ALREADY looking dated! Not sure if I'm in love with that Infinity but it definitely looks better than the Acura. Why must Acura incorporate all these ugly edges into everything that's made all their new stuff ugly for years. The last good looking car Acura designed was the 2007 TL type S. After that they started putting weird edges on everything including a point at the rear of all their vehicles. I just don't get it.

I can't stand any current Infinity and this one continues with the same overwrought, unnecessarily swoopy styling .. same goofy design language as the Hyundais.

Based on a number of stories, I believe that Lotus is at the forefront of low-volume, low cost carbon fibre body construction and this Infinity appears to have an entirely carbon fibre body on an aluminum chassis. And yet the things still weighs over 3500 lbs !!!! This does not bode well for the weight challenges that the NSX 2.0 developers have.

I think the Infiniti is a very nice car,but....it lacks heritage!

Now that's FUNNY. Heritage is what the new NSX is totally without. If they took that seriously it wouldnt be all wheel drive, a hybrid, or look like an r8 instead of the hsc or new mclaren. Not to mention we bought the original cars without any "heritage".
Actually, you may have a good point there. I think the Emerg-E is an electric vehicle first .. and just happens to have a motor for extended range capability whereas the NSX 2.0 is a motor driven vehicle first .. and just happens to have some EV capabilities to enhance the performance not the gas mileage. So the Emerg-E likely does have significantly more batteries and weight compared to the NSX. The Emerg-E needs high draw amps for a longer time .. kind of like the Fisker .. which also weighs a ton. I stand corrected .. it actually weighs over 2.5 tons!!what is that...like 2000lbs of batteries? that is a "ton" of batteries
Suddenly I'm not so worried.
I may have been unnecessarily harsh. The area just behind the rear wheel is cleaner and less fussy than the NSX which has an extra goofy styling element for some reason. I also have to give the Emerg-E props for at least having an interior.
Love the sarcasm, but on the serious side, Infiniti is Nissan with leather...and Nissan started as Datsun...and Datsun gave us the glorious 240-Z...280-Z...280-ZX...300ZX...etc...
...and Honda proved they could play in Formula One...and kick some a$$.
To me, F1 is the benchmark. If a car company can't play in that ring, they have zero "heritage"...no matter how long they've been around.
Ferrari...McLaren...Honda...BMW...Mercedes-Benz...WINNING!

30 years ago, bedrooms all over the world were adorned with pictures of supercars like the Ferrari 288 GTO, Ferrari Testarossa, Porsche 959 and Lamborghini Countach.
At that time, very few of us worried about gas mileage, fuel economy or oil prices. All we wanted was a fast, sexy sportscar, even if it only managed a few miles per gallon.
In today’s automotive world where gas mileage is king, can we ever return to those heady days of supercar adoration on bedroom walls?
Enter the Acura NSX and Infiniti Emerg-E, 2 cars that promise supercar performance while also returning impressive gas mileage. 1 is a hybrid supercar, while the other is a range-extended electric supercar.
Neither car has even been given a production schedule yet, but both have created a huge stir since launch.
Moreover, both Acura and Infiniti have admitted their respective cars will become the halo car for each company.
But which car will win in the bedroom wall stakes? And why?
Acrua NSX
Even before it was unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, the 2015 Acura NSX was closely watched by supercar fans.
Named after its legendary namesake, the 2015 promises a traditional supercar layout, with its V-6 direct-injected VTEC engine placed behind the cabin in a mid-mounted position.
Acura has said the gasoline engine will be married to a powerful electric motor, driving the rear wheels through a dual-clutch transmission.
Meanwhile, the front wheels will be driven by 2 independent electric motors.
Made out of Aluminum, the NSX should also remain lighter than supercars of days gone by.
Acura hasn’t detailed any performance or power specifications yet, but expect the NSX to deliver an impressive 0-60 time thanks to its triple motor setup.
What Acura has boasted about however, is its new handling package, which includes a bilateral torque adjustable control system.
Using the front wheel motors, Acura says the 2015 NSX will be able to provide negative or positive torque to each wheel, minimizing over- and under-steer, even at high speed.
As for looks? The NSX combines classic supercar looks with modern-day aerodynamics that haven’t been dumbed down to appear eco-minded. In short, it dares you to go faster.
Infiniti Emerg-E
Like the Acura NSX, there’s no hint that the Emerg-E is an eco-minded supercar.
But if the Acura NSX wears the chiseled good-looks of a classic American superhero, the Infiniti Emerg-E has the more youthful charm of a comic-book martial-arts hero, with a gentler, curved nose, high headlight ridges and a narrow waistline.
Unlike the NSX, the Emerg-E has a pronounced waistline, with air vents providing ventilation to its mid-mounted gasoline range-extending engine.
That analogy continues to the drivetrain. Unlike the Acura NSX, which uses its V-6 gasoline engine to provide most of the drive power, the Infiniti Emerg-E uses twin 300 kilowatt electric motors to provide electric all-wheel drive.
Infiniti says the Emerg-E should hit 60 mph in under 4 seconds, going on to a top speed of 130 mph.
Only when its battery pack is depleted -- or extra power is required -- does the gasoline range-extending engine kicks in.
But instead of V-6 grunt, the Infiniti Emerg-E uses a highly-efficient 3-cylinder engine to generate additional power.
Our Verdict?
In all honesty, we know so little about either car to really tell which will be more popular with sports car enthusiasts -- and bedroom walls -- across the world.

I'd take the NSX over the infiniti. For two reasons:
- Top speed of 130mph
- Styling: The infinite has too many things going on with the design it looks like most of it is not for function but just pure aesthetics, specifically in regards to the side profile. There are so many swoops, curves, edges in a small area of the car I don't know what to distinguish out of it. The rear taillights are boring looking as well.
