Installing a Nav unit, where to put the nav antenna

I will be installing a Eclipse AVN 5435, and was wondering what location others have used to install the NAV antenna unit. Reading the instructions they say outside the car is best but it can't get wet, or inside the car by the winshield.
I have couple ideas and just wanted to hear from some that already have it installed any pros and cons.
