I believe there is a thread somewhere about this drive besides S2Ki.com. But I for one received an email from Ananda about this drive. I just want to put this out for those aren't aware of the event.
I am going to this event for sure... haven't been to a monthly meeting in ages.

Dan

I just knew that today too. I would like to know more about it, would you please fill me in??

The only problem is that when they started that early, I would probably need to ask for a day off... (I worked in the weekends and most of the time I worked a graveyard shift then go home for couple hrs of sleep before I go to the meet.)

Here is what's on the Agenda:

We are tentatively planning on meeting at the Kirland park & ride next
to I-405 at the 70th street exit. This drive will require an early
start. We may have up to 30-40 vehicles attending. The Mt Baker Ski Area
general manager has an S2000 and may attend and open one of the lower
lodges just for us (still pending). Here is the run down.....

7:00am Kirkland park & ride

7:20am Leave and head north to Mt.Vernon, 405 to I-5

9:00am Arrive at the Nooksack Casino at Hwy 9 & Hwy 527 (15-20 miles
east of Bellingham)

9:20am Leave and head east on Hwy 527 to Mt Baker Ski Area.

11:00am Arrive at the summit

Lunch still pending, either at the lodge parking lot or Milano's
Italian Café in the town of Glacier.

If there are any other comments please email or call me at 425-644-7561

Hope all can make it. If you attend, please plan on video camera and
digital cameras, would love to put a dvd together from this drive.

The S2000 club will also be driving with us... they have a thread
started on www.s2ki.com. Here is the link to it:
http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=207277

Thanks for posting the info Dan!

I finally got my NSXprime account reactivated so I can post additional comments.

The S2000 club is really excited to plan a drive with the NSX Northwest crew and being that summer is almost here a bunch of us are itching to start the driving season!

Be sure to check out the S2000 link to see what they are talking about... and post here if you are going to go.

PS. The drive won't take all day and we'll be back well before dinner time.

Hey Optikal, what do you drive, do you have an EVO or a S2000?? I would say if you can post a list of cars who comfirmed to attend the event, it might get more attention. I went to the local meet quite a bit of time. But I haven't add myself into the email group yet.

I don't think you will have any restriction on what people will drive over there, right?? I mean if I have couple friends who had a STi or mercedes, they could come along right??

I would also like to know what kind of driving we are going to be involved in... as if we truly have 30-40 cars altogether, It's a pretty big group, maybe we need to use some sort of radio and careful planning of people's pace. As the people enjoyed more spirited driving and wouldn't mind playing catch up should be at the end of the group. My experience to all the group drive is that usually every 4-7 cars will break into a group... You know, sometime some Pickup truck red neck would try run into the line of flashy cars, someone we could get trapped at traffic light, or simply merge into a country road behind a nice old lady who can't handle 1 mph over speed limit....

I don't know the direction to Mt. Baker, I'm sure don't want to get lost while leading a group of fellows or vice versa... ;)

Maybe indetifying 4 or 5 leaders who will be able to contact each other via cell phone, radios, and also short maps/ direction of the drive will help.

Anyway, I believed you had me in the list... my cousin will be there too with his 93 White nsx.

Optikal was in the silver s2k where we had the drive to snoqumie fall 2 months ago!
I think some people will use motorola talkabout, and I don't think you have to worry about having too many cars as a group. The S2k guys are pretty familiar with big group drives. ;)

Yeah, I drive a Sebring Silver S2000... but I love Rally, too! Hence Rhys Millen's Evo in my avatar :) In the future, I will get my NSX!

We'll take whoever wants to drive. I know there will be:

a Porsche C4S
Suby STi
a couple integras
and possibly a Z06
in addition to a bunch of S2000s and NSXs (about 5 NSXs so far, and approx 13 S2000s wanting to drool over your cars!).

You can bring your friends though.

We will have route directions and a dedignated FRS channel. We have to give everyone a schedule and tell people to meet us at X location at a given time because a large group of cars will be very hard to keep together over a given distance. Plus we'll share cell numbers for our group leaders.

Hopefully that answers some of your questions... looking forward to seeing you on the drive!

My car may or may not be out of the shop by then, but if I get it back in time I can't thnk of a better way to break the motor in then driving in a convoy out to Baker :) Might be able to round up an M5 and a VR4 as well. Sounds like this will be fun!

This drive will be a blast people. I will be out for sure.
I hope to see more NSXs out this time...

Ananda,
Please email me directions and meeting points whenever you get around to it.

Dan

spirited driving

Hi,

I've never been to any meetups or drives. I know that everyone has there own pace but....... HOw "spirited" are these drives? Do people ever get pulled over? Or is it pretty tame for the most part?;)

Hi Joe,
I have not seen anybody on the drive get pulled-over. There are those whom are a little agressive, and some are spirited. Therefore, we have groups with cell phone handy during the drive. I have heard people wanting to go on drives, but hesitate because of the way certain individuals driving habit. I believe if you are not up to the high speed then slow down. I just hope that this drive will be safe and fun like other drives.
Just to give us NSXers in here a heads-up. Our cousins S2K are very anxious to put some skills on us so they will be agressive...:) but don't worry, we don't need to display our skills if we don't want to...(shhhhh... we just have the look, no skills here) deep inside we know we look cool just to drive around in the X...hahaha
Sorry S2K Cousins, we don't bully on you guys due to the fact that.... we're in the same family...:)
At the end, FUN is the three letters word that wer'e pursuing.

Regards,

Dan

So tempting...

Damn, ever since I acquired my '97 NSX-T in January I've been trying to figure out a way to hook up with local NSX folk, and to participate in local NSX culture and events. This drive sounds great, but I will be driving my M Coupe with the BMW Club at Pacific Raceways the following day, and really don't want to be all "driven out." But I'm still pondering. So... if not this time, next time for sure! :D

Keith

I'll try to keep it under 63! ;)

im sure you get alot of looks on such group drives! i wish bush would kiss some arab butt just for that weekend.... gas is up to $2.60 LOL

anyways im about 75% sure i will make it.. looking forward to meeting you all.

Keith,
I think it's that time for you to join us. We don't have big drive like this all the time (once or twice a year maybe). We do get luncheon every first Sat. of the month at Claim Jumper in Redmond.
Yeah, gas is outragous.. but if you keep that baby under 63 you will get 25 MPG though....;)

I second that, think about more than 20 nsx and S2000 with some Porsche and Subaru... not to mention a "Corvette" will show up...

I'd say it could be the biggest drive we put together in the year...

Dan, last two months we both had drive after luncheon, and it's getting better... I would say the 6/5 drive would be a little relax than the spirited run we had but I don't see anyone who wants to be hanging out with other nsxer's should miss this up coming event.

Keith, the drive will end around 4 to 5pm, and I'll say it would probably a good warm up for you before you bring your bmw to track... (wondering why you don't bring your nsx there and kick some M butts...ummm) you know kind of wake up early for the drive, after the drive and dinner, you can go straight to bed and the have a good 8-10 hrs sleep before the track day.

I believed I had seen more nsx in last 3 months and I'd really love to meet more nsx owners and bring more new blood to our meetings...

Dean and I did a test drive last Monday of the propoped route... sun was out and shining, and the mountain was gorgeous! I will see if I can get some teaser pics to entice some of you to come play.

Also, don't worry about being pressured to drive fast. Everyone will have route instructions and meeting times so the group can function independently. That means the people who want to cruise can just cruise, and those who can't wait to tackle the corners can do so at their leisure.

I will add a warning though, their are some fun corners but don't push to hard... I don't want to ruin a drive by calling the tow truck!

Dan, I will supply you with route instructions after Dean finalizes the draft.

DRIVE UPDATE

The details have been finalized, a big thank you goes out to Dean for writing the instructions!

You can print out the following schedule, but we will also show up with the instructions and some printed maps.

Time schedule as follows.....

6:45-7:00am Arrive at NE 70th Pl park & ride in Kirkland (exit 17). This is located on the east side of I-405.

7:00am Leave for the Smokey Point rest area (coffee break) on I-5 north bound, set your tripometer to 0 before leaving the P&R.
Arrive at rest area located after exit 206 @ mile post 207.
Estimated travel time 35 minutes, tripometer @ 38.9 miles.
20 minute stay.

8:00am Leave reast area and head north on I-5, take next exit (208), turn right and head east on HWY 530 for about 3.5 miles and turn left onto HWY 9 north, tripometer @ 44.2 miles.

When entering the town of Sedro Woolley turn right onto the
North Cascade HWY (HWY 20 east), tripometer @ 71.4 miles.

Turn left back onto HWY 9 north @ the intersection of Arco-am/
pm and Dairy Queen, tripometer @ 72.7 miles. (Regroup at the school on the right hand side)

9:00am Arrive at photo-op @ tripometer setting of 84.1 miles, there is no landmark at this spot, lead car will stop. 15 minute stay.

9:15am Leave photo-op spot and head to Nooksack Casino. Follow HWY 9 north til it intersects with HWY 542, tripometer @ 95.5 miles, at this entersection turn left (heading west) for about a mile.
We will enter the casino area from the back and stage parking on HWY 542 (east bound). This will be a place for bathrooms or fuel and to meet the Canadian crew.
This will be a 15 minute drive from photo-op. 30 minute stay.

10:00am Leave casino and head east on HWY 542 (Mt Baker HWY). Next stop will be 15 miles east of the town of Glacier, tripometer @ 130.1 miles. This is the DOT Hwy garage. 45 minutes from the casino stop. 15 minute stay.

11:00AM LEAVE DOT Hwy garage and continue about 6 miles to enterance
of the White Salmon Lodge parking area. This last leg of the drive
is over rough roads, but they are paved.

We should arrive at the White Salmon parking area by 11:30, the gate to the parking area is usually closed, but will be open for us between 11:30 and noon. It will be important to arrive by these times. The gate will not be open after noon.

There is plenty of parking (paved) at the lodge. We should have some access to the lodge for bathrooms. Estimated time at the lodge about 1-2 hours. If at all possible would like to leave as a group so we do not have to open the gate to many times when leaving.

For those attending this drive, I recommend a packed lunch (no food service at lodge during summer months), sodas, water, digital cameras, and cam-corders, hiking boots, sunscreen, windex and papertowels for the bugs on your windshield, and a garbage bag.

This drive will happen rain or shine, be prepared.

We will have the opportunity to stop in the town of Glacier on the way back for dinner at "Milano's pasta fresca" or those that wish can continue home. If we leave the lodge by 2:30 pm, we should arrive home in the Bellevue area by 5:30pm, some of you may need to adjust your schedules accordingly for your trip home.,

*****important note from Dean*******
There has been some concerns regarding speeds on this drive, this will be addressed at the park and ride before we leave. I believe we can find a happy medium for everyone. Remember we will stick out like a sore thumb.

The main concern will be to behave ourselves on the Mt Baker Hwy and at the lodge.
We are lucky to have this opportunity (e-mail & thank the g.m. at Mt Baker Ski Area, Duncan Howat, he also has an S2000) to use the lodge area, since it's usually closed during summer months to the public. I don't want to be a hard ass about this, but please respect this request.

I hope all those who attend have a great time...

Ananda, please modify the list of "friends" I'm bring with, the MB and Sti guys both "passed out" when they found out they have to crawl out of their bed before 6am... so they are not going to make it.

This week, out of my surprise I've met 2 more nsx owners at my work place (a warehouse complex in Seattle.) And we all had Red. I talked to one gentleman and he said he might show up. Yes, Mark, if you happened to check this post, that's the one. Hopefully, I'll see you in the drive on 6/5.

Done!

And hope to see the other 2 NSXs out there! Thanks for spreading the word.

A tentative yes...?

OK folks, I've thought about this and have decided that if the weather is nice, I'll bring my new-to-me '97 NSX-T out for her debut on Saturday, even though I will be at the track all day on Sunday (in another car). You all can start giving me flak about not driving the NSX in the rain right about now if you like- it's a newbie thing.

Keith, I drove my 91 the whole winter

It's a good day for getting used to the car!!

As long as you are not pushing the car's limit, it's very safe to drive even in the rain.

I just waxed mine last weekend, I know how you feel. ;)
