Hey guys I have some concerns about installing the side skirts and rear spats on my NSX. Like most of you I'm extremely anal about my car. I'm affraid of doing shit cuz I don't want to ruin it.

I noticed that the WW sides don't have any holes to remount the door sill plate, so do I just leave those out? How do they fit? The factory ones look like they lock into place but the WW dont. So will they rattle or peel off?

Now on the rear spats I see they have 3M tape but is that all that holds them on? or do I have to screw them down in the inner wheel wells? God I'm freakin scared to have my body guy do it in the spring. Thanks for all the info you can provide me and sorry for the long ass e mail!

If you can provide close up detailed pics that would be greatly appreicated.

I don't have an answer for you, but speaking of WW, tonight was a really bad night for me.

Pulling away from a parking space at an empty mall parking lot, I hit my WW front spoiler (which I love a great deal) against some concrete element which I did not see at all. Although I hit it at a very low speed (I had barely moved forward), the spoiler on the right front side is f*&ked up, and hanging loose. Worse yet, the impact tore off some of the stock bumper part which the spoiler was wrapped around.

I literally sat there for about 20 minutes just looking at the depressing sight. It was like looking at a gorgeous supermodel who just got a black eye. Truly depressing.

I managed to drive home with the spoiler hanging loose and scrapping the ground.

I have to go now. I can't talk about it anymore...

I wouldn't trust double-side tape... you can drill holes in the WW skirts and use the factory mount points (you MAY need to fabricate some brackets/clips). Properly installed they will not rattle or peel, and IMO are a nice-looking enhancement over the plain OEM skirt.

This is tricky... they fit OVER the OE spats, but fitment is a bit more complicated. I think my shop used clips and bonded it to the OE rear valance, making it look like one seamless piece.

Another caveat is prepping for paint... you'll need to bake these urethane pieces thoroughly (and multiple times) to make sure the release agent is "sweated out"... any residual moisture left will (over time) come out and bubble your paint.

Do you have pics of this? I just had the rear spats put on and they don't look like it fits right. The shop is willing to bond the pieces together to make it seamless also. Thanks!

Some pix can be found on NSXSC Forums. Also on my NSX page.

One thing you need to remember about the WW rear spats is that they collect water. I would recommend drilling a half inch hole on the bottom inner corner where the spat mounts to the inner fender, this cannot be seen unless you lift the car or bend down to look up at it. It's clearly out of sight.

Make sure you get the rear spat to sit flushed with the body. The sun trick didn't work with my rear spat so I used a heat gut. What I did was heat it up to warm temperature off of the car, then pressed it up against the body so that it formed correctly, and held it there until it was cooled off and fitted correctly.
**note...the double sided tape may need to be replaced if doing this, but to me it's better than having to drill a hole at the tip to hold it in place, and much easier than fabricating a bracket.

For the side skirts, you can do what was mentioned above, or you can cut off the clips that clip to the side skirts and just use some kind of double sided tape or silicone adhesive to hold it down. I've done neither and left mine off since it's hardly driven.

Email me if you need more help.

Thanks for your help guys. I hardly drive my X too. On average its been 1000 miles a year and this last year it was only 300, cuz I bought a motorcycle. Drilling and cutting scares me even more! HAHAHA

I'll pass this info on to my body shop. I hope it all works out, which it usually does.

Ok so if I don't reinstall those sill plates do the side skirts cover up the holes? or will i have holes showing?

I ordered the kit last week, and I have the same concerns. Somehow, I am still not convinced that the rear spats can handle a few pounds of frozen slush hanging off them. If water gets into the spat, then a few freeze/thaw cycles should loosen the tape.

I haven't put such a kit on a NSX but have installed numerous similar kits on other vehicles, for example I recently installed ground effect kits on 3 different Porsche Carreras. I use 3M panel bonding adhesive, keeping the double sided tape in some cases to hold the part on until full cure is achieved. Be forewarned. Once they are put on this way, forget about taking them off.
Your body shop should be familiar with this product and how to apply it.
