Im considering replacing my old shocks with Bilsteins or perhaps going a step further with a Zanardi setup.
Can anyone tell me if I need to swap out out both sway bars on my '95 Targa if I go Zanardi, or if I only need to do the front or rear?
Thanks,
Dennis

Zanardi suspension is discontinued. No longer available new, so you will have to find it used.

Based on the Wiki, it looks like the Zanardi has a slightly bigger rear sway bar than the OEM setup. The fronts seem to be the same (maybe with different wall thicknesses though..)

http://www.nsxprime.com/wiki/Sway_and_Strut_Bars#OEM_Anti-Roll_Bar_Data

Keep in mind this quote from the wiki though: "Different years are also bent differently to accommodate other changes in the car, so they are not all interchangeable between model years. "

Adrian,
Has your ride height changed with the Zanardi shocks? Do you have them or do you run something else?
Switching gears from sway bar talk.
Dennis

I can't really comment on what you asked but I wouldn't trade my Tanabe Suspension for anything else. I have Tein on my skyline, but in comparison the Tein is great but the Tanabe is amazing.

Well, the Zanardi set up is on the way, thanks to Gerad at Reno Acura
Thanks Gerad!
I'll let you know when I get it how it all sorts out!!!

I've looked into this with my own 95T. The stock sways are 17.3x2.6 Front and 17.5x2.3 Rear, the Zanardi setup has a standard coupe 18.3x3 front bar but the rear is a larger diameter with a thicker wall (19.1x3). Probably to bias the Zanardi for less understeer. Although Mario Andretti who tested the Zarnardi version commented "The NSX is all understeer" but he also said "It is very stable and has a flat feel...".

Interested to hear how your project turns out.

Well, the Zanardi set up is on the way, thanks to Gerad at Reno Acura
Thanks Gerad!
I'll let you know when I get it how it all sorts out!!!

Just checking up on the progress of your suspension project. Have you gotten it installed yet? Inquiring minds want to know.

First impressions on the new setup.
Note:I am not a track ace, nor a suspension guru.I have been a motorcycle rider for 36 years. And I love to drive. But that does not make me an expert. So my descriptions may not satisfy those in the know!!

I bought springs and shocks and all the proper bushings that made up the Zanardi suspension. Thanks Gerad!

At Eiffels Place, where the work was performed, when the shocks first came off, the top bushing under the rubber boot was disintegrated in every shock. My car is a '95 and I am the third owner. I believe that every part I replaced was original. So if there are many of you out there in a similar position, consider what you can and can't see concerning your suspension. Old stuff that needs to be replaced.

The shocks once replaced, gave me something I'd never felt before; a ride with support.

So,before the upgrade, when I went driving in the mountains with Sunedayz and Bob K. on my 18"/19' wheel setup, I was perturbed by the bouncy yawing and jittering when cornering. I blamed it on the big wheels. Only partly true.

With the factory wheels back on, it was much better. But still not right. I kept popping the button covering the front right shock in the plastic cladding, when hitting a pothole or poor pavement. And confidence was not truly inspired by this homogenized feel.I mean it is an NSX and all that and I'd never driven one for an extended time before I bought my greenie. But it always left me feeling like I needed to improve something????But what???

At the Atl motorsports track, the driver/owner of the track remarked after a few spirited laps that the feel of the car was as if a sway bar was bent.We did have the top off, but no, the sway bars were fine.

At this point I really felt that a simple shock replacement would do the trick. But then I heard how nice the Zanardi setup was, so I bit.

In one evenings drive home from Eiffels shop and to and from a soccer game on surface streets of a mixed variety, I can't tell you how excited I am to get this car on the track....Like yesterday!

The ride is firmer, but not harsh. The way the car corners is way better, without the mushy ambivalence that it had previously. It feels planted and holy sheep dip, wants to be driven hard and put up wet.

Suspension often gets overlooked when engine and wheels get all the comments and praise!

So that is my story!

One other note. I have an old '82 Land Cruiser and I put an Old Man Emu suspension on it a few years back and I remembered how awesome the ride was after almost 200,00 miles with only one set of shocks changed the whole time before that.
