Guys,

How much narrower is a 255/40/17 vs 275/40/17?

I have to order new rears and I have run both sizes before but forgot how much narrower smallers are.

my 275, low the width but I hate how tall the side wall is.

My fronts are still in excellent condition and I would hate to run 2 different types of tires but would really love the best of both worlds...wider tire and thinner side wall.

Currently running yoko S.drives and I really like them.

20 mm ,but the answer seems too simple, so do you mean sidewall height?

I have posted this link previously and there are lots more like it out there. Go about 1/2 way down the page and you can put in all sorts of tire sizes and then get the percentage difference in rolling circumference and what that means to speedo error.

The site has loads of info about tires, speed ratings, date codes (remember your not supposed to have a tire more than 7 years old) etc.

Start here http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html There are 4 pages and you can find them just under the first ad at the top of the page where it says page navigation.

I am just going to stick with the same tires...

love everything except the look of the tall side wall.
