when to use local mechanics vs nsx specialist

My local acura dealer is reluctant to work on my NA1. They tell me they don't have any of its needs, records and manuals stored in their database any more. Luckily, I have an Honda/Acura specialist about a mile from my home. JS&J Honda/Acura did a beautiful job on my clutch and saved me several hundred
 
Larry Bastanza needs to be cloned. 1 for each state.
Fortunately, there are other mechanics who, like Larry, are highly experienced on the NSX, who work on them all the time and have done the most complex tasks (such as rebuilding NSX engines and transmissions). Some of the best include Ted Czarnecki at Muller's Woodfield Acura outside Chicago, Don Lam at Hilltop Auto Service just south of San Francisco, Ramon Quintinita at Niguel Motors in Orange County (Southern California), and Nabil Armaly at First Class Automotive in Orlando (in your state). There are others as well.

I'd let a general shop do the tires, that's about it.
First of all there's the "learn while you earn" aspect where the inexperienced tech tries to get up to speed on the procedure as it applies to an NSX.
Secondly they just would not have a wealth of practical knowledge of how NSX's behave. I just looked at a thread where a forum member wants to reset the remote on his keyless but his hatch light is on when the hatch is closed and locked. The majority of the fix responses say to replace the car battery, I wonder how many parts an inexperienced tech would throw at the car before getting around to replacing the battery?
There are many unique aspects of the NSX starting with how to correctly open and close the doors and hatches and it goes on from there.
I just don't want anyone working on my NSX that doesn't know sh*t about them. I'm very lucky to have Brian and Justin here in town at Source 1 to help with my car, then a good friend who is also a certified NSX tech and then I have me.
I'm comfortable with those 3 layers. To allow just anybody- and especially somebody that has not ever touched an NSX before- to work on my NSX? Someone who will shut the doors with the window, drop the hatch or dent the trunk when they close it with both hands? Someone without a service cover for the rear?

I see my NSX specialist regularly and he has become a friend (he'll be coming to NSXPO with us...without his tools). But he is always having to redo sloppy work done by dealerships and owners who think it's just another Acura/Honda. We who own an NSX know they have maintenance quirks and issues most other Acuras/Hondas don't. ABS, air conditioning and electrical mostly due to age that come to mind and there are numerous threads on this forum. Granted, some of us are very fortunate to have a good tech locally and I can't imagine what it's like to not have one. Yes I like to do what I can on my own but I feel more comfortable having someone who knows my car bolt by bolt doing the job right and backs up his work. If you are lucky enough to have a good tech use him.
