Who else is getting beat by the economy?!

The only effect I've seen is less elective cosmetic procedures. Even though I didn't see the usuall 15%-20% growth that I had in prior years, I also didn't have a major decrease in my 2008 collections.

Which Hookah bars in LA are yours? I have a lot of family in LA that frequent hookah bars. Just wondering if tis anything I've been to and/or they've heard of.
Orange County, Huntington Beach. Bulldog Lounge.

I'm in high tech, still have a job, fingers crossed! Wife is finishing her PhD and have some leads at some post doc positions. I hope to ride this thing out relatively unscathed! (except my 401K)

I sit and wonder if in the future, if in the job market a well stocked tool box and a good pair of hands will be worth more than product knowledge and a college degree.........

It always has been in the area of NY where you and I live. A college degree in CNY will get you 30k a year where a van and a hammer or a sewer snake can get you 30k a month.

I have thought of breaking into the Buffalo area but it's a dangerous market in more than just one way.

Has anyone ever thought of being a sperm donor?

I will neither confirm nor deny that I am or not.

Donors will be reimbursed up to $100 per donation and up to $1200 a month by donating 3 times a week. They periodically offer incentives such as movie tickets or gift certificates for extra time and effort expended by participating donors. It's tough work, espcially after turn on the news.

As a donor, you will be classified as an independent contractor under the IRS code. Although no taxes are deducted from reimbursement checks, the sperm banks are required to report the reimbursement paid to you.

In addition, the cum banks are required to report such earnings to EDD. Therefore, each January, you will receive a 1099 form reflecting the total reimbursement paid to you during the previous calendar year.

BTW, they limit how many offsprings to minimize accidental inbreeding when your children grow up and end up boinking each other (unknowingly) at pron night, for example.

A good way to cheat is to frequent other sperm banks in the area, with the NSX of course.

Wear loose pants, preferably no undies since it cools ur nuts.

Consume L-arginine and whey protein with spirulina

Don't smoke, do drugs, drink and have unprotected sex.

Key take aways:

- Earn up to $1200.00/month
- Be your own boss - Donate at your convenience up to 3 times a week ($100.00/donation)
- Receive a free genetic screening and consultation
- Receive free infectious disease and health screenings (every week like a porn star)
- Help people fulfill their dreams of starting a family

Does the health insurance cover RSI?

as for the economy, i've been broke and basically jobless for a year now, already used to it. :(

My line of work is in the automotive industry.

I own a couple car dealerships,service,towing etc.

I have been living the good life for about 9 years in this biz. December was terrible and really put me in perspective as to what "can" happen. Sold only 28 cars total. Average over 50. Even with the slow december we still did more than several VERY LARGE car dealers in the area. For instance. Kerry Dodge Spent well over 30k in advertising did only 9 cars for the month.:eek:OUCH!

January has been ROCKIN!!! Doing very well this month and Hope that now that tax checks are coming out there will be more coming with more and more down payment money... I specialize in special financing for people with bad credit so tax season is usually my bread and butter.

So long story short we were down 2% in 08 from 07 when we usually see a 8-15% growth per year since 2000. :frown:

Not worried as of yet. But december certainly cleared my head and showed me what a bad month could be.

I wish all of you that are lookign for jobs luck in finding and hope everyone comes out as easy as possible with this downturn.

If this is true, and I do beleive you, then I would say you are a leading economic indicator. This means that we are not too far from putting all of this crap behind us. The automakers just want to reduce inventory, and take moderate losses. Once that is through the pipeline, they will reduce production, and keep prices the same as before.

Hang in there guys

Is it really that bad in Vegas? How are the casinos doing?

Sorry it took me a little while to reply but I had a stupid household burglary to condend with. In fact I was called by my security company in the middle of my reply.

To answer your question, to say Vegas is doing bad is a massive understatement. I'm still waiting for the four horsemen of the apocalypse to round the corner. Layoffs have been rampant. On average, I would say 1 in 5 people I know have been laid off and have not been able to find a new job. Projects have either been cancelled or stalled. Construction is nearly dead. If you drive around Vegas, you’ll see several job sites with half finished projects and rusting steel girders. If fact a multi-billion dollar casino project called Eschelon is on hold right smack dab in the middle of the Strip! Casino traffic and revenue is down big time. Foreclosures and crime are up. Whoever said Vegas was recession proof really didn’t know what he/she was talking about. Worse off, all my economic indicators show that the worse is yet to come. 2009 will be a very bad year for Vegas.

The good news for all you non-locals is that there are some incredible deals to be had. Do an Expedia search on Vegas rooms. Rooms that were going for $450 per night are $150 a night. Your average mid-tier Strip casino will run you way less than $100 a night. And you shouldn't have any problems getting 1/2 price tickets to most shows. Casino's are desparate so you can probably negotiate just about anything.

In the end this will be a good thing. I always said Vegas priced itself out. Now it's sleeping in the bed they made. But things will come full circle. Soon they will go back to the original Vegas and go back to the roots that made Vegas what it was. Cheap rooms and cheap buffets. Affordable entertainment. Get you in on a great inexpensive deal and take your money gambling. The only thing predictable in an unpredictable world of gaming is human greed.

Last year people were calling me to see if I could get them a CTSC and there was a waiting list for kits....now I have one just sitting here and nobody is calling.

Too bad I already have one for my car

The economy is killing me.

We have had our house for sale in Savannah for 9 months without a SINGLE offer. Not even a lowball offer.

I lost my job 4 months ago. I have been trying to do some web design and started a vinyl sticker company for local sport clubs -- soccer, swimming etc.

Neither have been very sucessful so far.

I recently started selling an auto product that I have high hopes for, but it is very inexpensive so to actually make a good living I have to have A LOT of dealers participating. Big thanks to Tim for being the first one.

Nice to see you unemployed guys trying new things to make money. The economy may be slow ,but still it is inspiring to read some of the posts.Good luck to all of the jobless.

My 8:30-3pm full time job is doing well but I've lost a lot of outside opportunities I've invested a significant amount of time in. I had two or three projects related to Asia that were just about to get off the ground that failed. I had a potentially highly lucrative position in China that is postponed indefinitely due to China no longer drilling on their own soil as of a few months ago. BP was interested in putting me in a great position on their trading floor but they've frozen hiring. I've been taking up additional consulting related jobs part-time just to try to build as much cash as possible during the downturn.

On the internet consulting jobs I am earning almost exactly 50% of what I used to get paid for the exact same work. Fortunately I thought I was being a little overpaid before. Two of my co-workers were senior project managers at whole foods that were laid off with no where to go here in Austin. Like steveny, I've lost my fair share in the stock market although I'm not down too much at this point. But in reality that's irrelavent, it's still a 40% swing net.

I'm lucky enough to work for a lowest bidder defense contract however, Im taking a 6% loss this year or about $8k and next year bonuses will be cut in half again like the year before that so I'm not taking vacation this year.

Also, my sister manages my brick and morter clothing store I bought last year. Sales are down but profits just enough for her to eat and pay taxes.

Still collecting steady rent off my single family home in TX about $900 a month but this year after expenses, mortgage and maintenance, I broke even.

I have since started playing the stock market as of last month to try and see what I can do. I have 32k at stake and hoping for an Obama rally to sell off. Using shorts to hedge just in case we see more red this week.

If anything were to happen, with my virtually no debt, I could live without work for 1 year or longer if I could live off top ramen and rent a room and drivfe a geo metro.

I have done it once and I can do it again :)

I am a teacher in Alberta and I am lucky to be in a strong union - we took a crap kicking for years in this industry but amazingly enough we received 25-30% raises in the last 4 years...I make just under $100,000 - (which is not much compared to most who own NSXs) so I think I will be able to get through this long narrow window and be able to pay my car off...lol...but it is going to be a long drawn out process and this failing economy is going to reset the prices that many labor intensive jobs pay out to workers - the automotive industry is just the beginning folks! Obama and Harper are NOT going to give us anything...they are going to TAKE THINGS AWAY...mainly pay!!

Dam:cool:

The city itself is a sewer. The outskirts, however, are full of inexpensive prime real estate, if that's your bag. There aren't many areas in the country that you can own a nice home in a nice neighborhood with land and a garage for under $80K, that's not either infested or falling over.

Surprisingly, one thing that is growing in the actual city, is foreign investment. About two years ago, people from Australia were buying up apartment buildings in the city, hiring property managers, and collecting section 8 rent.

Yep, this place is a gold mine for out of the area investors. We have been working with people from Australia for several years. We have investors from all over the world including NSXPrime members. MAnaging over One Thousand units currently.

u can say that.

But unlike pimping.... what I do has little people with those skillsets in that industry.

2008 Was the most money I have ever made and I did not trade all 12 months about 10. This year will be even better as long as we have a market to trade ;)
