Hi everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and figured there would be some interest in our new project.

My name is Alec Acuff and I'm a Performance Specialist with Fabspeed Motorsport. We recently had the pleasure of taking delivery of this matte black 2017 Acura NSX for R&D from our friends in Canada. First up, baseline dyno runs.

This 573 horsepower beauty is a blast to drive but could definitely use improvements in the power and sound department. Stay tuned... :)

Good to see the new NSX is getting support from the aftermarket. I have one of your exhausts on my Cayman, and it is a quality piece!

who are your friends in Canada?

Thanks for posting those pics. The matte finish shows details in the shape of the car that are hard to make out in pics of the car in a stock glossy finish.

Can you say anything about how the paint work was done? I'm guessing it's a full refinish, I mean you can't just scuff a factory black and turn it matte like that.

very nice

Thank you!

Thank you for the kind words! Glad to hear you're enjoying the system on your Cayman! I'm excited to see how these cars react to mods so stay tuned

Looks great when there aren't 3 colors in the front bumper. Very clean.

I agree, thank you!

Nice Alec - we spoke on the phone and run your exhaust on our F80 Dakar M3 project build :)

What color is that NSX or is it wrapped?

We have a black one here for R&D work as well.

Hi there! Sounds like a awesome build! Please let me know if you ever need anything.

It's a matte black vinyl wrap. I think it compliments the car beautifully, which isn't always the case for that color. I'll have to keep an eye out for what you do with yours :)

who are your friends in Canada?

We have a company out of Toronto that reached out to us to work together to develop an exhaust system (and possibly more...)

My pleasure! It's actually a matte black vinyl wrap - and one of the highest quality jobs that I have seen. Absolutely flawless.

See above - wrapped :)

I previously couldn't stand matte black before seeing this and I even own a murdered out gen 1. But this car looks spectacular. The brake lights and brakes really pop. I like it. The rear side profile looks like Optimus prime's head. Dig it.... I'm looking forward to your upgrades. Anything for the gen 1 crowd in the works?

Looking forward to your upgrades!

Thank you, me too!

Thank you! I generally agree; only certain cars can pull it off and it has to be done well. Nothing in the works that I know of currently but I'd certainly love to work with a 1st gen... :)

The torque line is strong, but I'm not sure how much peak hp is aided from the emotors, but 450 whp is a bit more than 20% drivetrain loss, but it's punching right there with the competition.

awesome! always see you guys on rennlist, great stuff. I'm hoping a nice tune & exhaust from you guys, we'll see where the car stands after that! If the car gains another 50-60whp and 30-40 trq.. it'll be quite the beast

Assuming very little HP from the e-motors, 450whp is pretty good for the 500hp rated ICE. It's just a shame that the marketing paints an illusionary 573hp.

I think the car could use a larger turbo for much greater peak hp numbers. The turbo seems to struggle past 6K rpm to make any larger hp gains... Perhaps the behavior will change with mods?

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update - here is our prototype Muffler Bypass system with quad tips using 2.5" mandrel bent T304L Stainless Steel tubing which is designed to be a direct, bolt-on replacement. Can't wait to get these on the car and grab some sound clips!

Next up, Catbypass and HJS 200 Cell Sport Cats...

Comparison with OEM

Thanks for posting the dyno Alec. The common word is that this car is tricky to setup on the dyno (for various reasons). Did you guys have to setup the dyno config differently for this car?

No problem and not that I'm aware of!

haha you guys act fast.....don't forget those whistle tips!!!!

Beautiful setup!

At NSXPO, one of the Pike's Peak NSX's were showing off it's 4" turbo back setup which sounded amazing! Any reason why you guys chose to use 2.5" vs larger pipes say 3" or larger? For a turbo car we would think the larger the better?

Can't wait for your sound clips........!

Kudos for supporting this car and doing it so efficiently!

oh my!! Beautiful!!

It is gonna sound amazing and there is got to be decent amount of power gain from exhaust and high flow cats

Plus 1 guys. The first I have seen of gen 2 upgrades.... Keep it up please...

Following for updates. I have the same question, why such small piping? Something to do with the hybrid system?
