Nice Hotel recommendations in Santa Barbara

I highly recommend The Simpson House Inn. Very romantic. Quiet residential area. You can see more for yourself at www.simpsonhouseinn.com. Only 5 Diamond AAA B&B in US. Expensive, but worth it for a special occasion. 5 minutes by car from ocean.

Got My Car Back From C-tech!!!

I have a 91 NSX with 9 lb CT supercharger, CT 4.55 R&P, 6 speed transmission. During a shakedown run at the Silver State Classic in Nevada, I drove my car between 165 - 170 mph for about 5 - 10 miles. I had about 500 - 700 rpm's or so left before redline, but I did not attempt to achieve...

    Comptech Supercharger

Loose supercharger belt diagnosed with boost gauge I had this very problem on my car. The thing that I noticed was loss of boost at high RPM's. The boost was falling from 5 down to 2 above 6k RPMs. Curiously, I could not detect any loss of power using the "seat of my pants". Mark Basch...

    Top speed so far

I have compared the indicated speed on the speedometer with both GPS and a calibrated rally odometer. The indicated mileage and indicated speed (at least in my car) are both overestimates. My car was 4% off. In other words, when I had travelled 10.0 miles via odometer, the mileage indicated...

    Top speed so far

Top Speed 168 mph. I have driven in the Silver State Classic open road rally in Nevada four times now. With the stock suspension, the front end of my car felt light above 140 mph. The car did not feel planted to the road like it did at lower speeds. I installed the TEIN suspension (Thanks...

Bearcat "Repeater" Scanner vs Valentine One/Radar Detectors?

What I don't understand is how a highway patrolman can be driving around without his radio on. It seems like they would routinely be left on, kind of like a taxi radio. Apparently not. Either that or the scanner couldn't pick up the radio in the car right next to me

Bearcat "Repeater" Scanner vs Valentine One/Radar Detectors?

Woops. I couldn't find the information about scanners in the FAQ's when I looked on my own. Lud's URL is correct. The information is there. I missed it. ------------------

Bearcat "Repeater" Scanner vs Valentine One/Radar Detectors?

I own both the Valentine 1 and Bearcat BCT-12 scanner, which is similar to the BCT-7 except that is windshield mountable, and the scanning frequencies are preprogrammed. I recently took an open road trip from Phoenix to LA using both the V1 and the BCT-12. Here a couple of observations...
