95 - 02 Coupes

Rummaging through the internet I'm growing increasingly confused as to what Spoon actually plans on doing as far as conversions and building cars from scratch. Is there a thread here on the NSX Prime forums following the NSX R GT? Because I couldn't find one in search. :frown:

Here ya go

Surprisingly enough:rolleyes: Due to price most won't buy it and are not really in favor of it as they can "make their own for less".

You and I are the only two on the board who have said they would buy one after the price went above $100k

Also Spoon should be announcing complete details next week at the Tokyo auto salon as to what they will be doing.

the real questions in my mind is will the car have genuine honda nsxr parts? and are they starting with a new na2 coupe chassis? a used na2 coupe chassis or a used na1 coupe chassis?

depending on the answers to these questions 150K could be a bargain for the car particularly if has all new honda nsx-r parts. total up the cost of the required nsx-r parts alone and you will see

in addition to a na2 coupe chassis you need to add the following and i'm sure i've missed some items.

is it really possible for spoon to get the chassis, the items below as genuine oem assemble, test and ship to the us for 150K? I really hope so, but seriously doubt it.

nsx-r hood
nsx-r screen for hood
nsx-r gasket for screen for hood
nsx-r front braces (2 of them)
nsx-r duct in front compartment for hood
nsx-r front under aero metal + 3 rubber fins

Yes:biggrin: If you pick up Sport Compact car they confirm that even the NSX-R GT parts are authentic. Everything down to the engine will be sourced from Honda and be all NSX-R parts. The chassis for those wanting them to build a car are left over Genuine Honda NSX-R chassis that Honda had mothballed in a warehouse.

Spoon already has parts at Opak racing in stock for people who just want their NSX converted as well. Full details and pricing will be released at the Tokyo Auto Salon next week.

I recommend picking up Sport Compact to see all the details in depth.

what issue of sport compact car?
call me a pessimist, but from the pictures that stuntman (billy) posted of the white turbo nsx-r gt that he drove, i can tell you that I strongly don't believe that even that car is real. (side ventes, rear bumper etc were aftermarket (NOT oem honda nsx-r gt) parts.

I am not a believer at this point

unfortunatly i don't think we can believe everything that we read.

this is not passing my logic or sanity test

Current one and it has the Spoon NSX-R GT on the cover. Well the controversy with that is that they ( Billy ) believed it was an actual NSX-R GT and it wasn't. It is in fact a Spoon Sports modified NSX-R with the OEM NSX-R GT parts plus Spoons other modification parts. Compact car confirmed and said they saw the part numbers and part boxes. This info is on page 6 of the magazine well before the article as they felt that should be cleared up.

I hear you on you can't believe what you read but at what point do you believe? If you see the part numbers on the boxes? If you want the car I'm sure they'll provide you with any confirmation you want as far as physical evidence.

Normally having the part numbers or boxes would be good enough for me, but when i look at the side vents and rear bumper and they are physically different from EVERY honda picture i have ever seen, i still doubt that they are real. Again wanting to believe but balancing the claim versus what my eyes are telling me.

Fair enough I guess we'll just have to wait till a primer orders one. Mine will be sans all the GT stuff and w/o the turbo and heavier Prodrive wheels so I'm hoping it should be extremely close to 2700lbs:eek:

i would order mine the exact same as you. NSX-R all the way. let's hope someone does soon so we can see what this is all about. I would love a real type R.

I read the same thing.

As for the actual act of ordering one would anyone here actually want to keep it right hand drive? Ive been watching so many NSX R videos lately that I think it might feel a little weird to have a LHD R. I might be in japan at the end of the year too so I'm kinda conflicted as to how it should be ordered. Also, the body kit is a huge point of conflict as well. I mean, the extended side vents and over the roof non functioning air scoop are a little over the top for me. But the bumper and rear diffuser along with the suspension setup seem like really nice improvements.

I know we just can't do real conversions here. I want the whole thing like the more aggressive throttle and ABS plus little stuff like the shift light on the dash. Oh yeah and that sweet rubber dash material , CF interior pieces all that good stuff:biggrin:

I don't think that will be an option as if that was the case you could just import a real NSX-R.

I just had my fingers crossed about it  if spoon was going to go through the trouble of making these cars street legal in the US maybe they could just give their stamp of approval on one that was RHD.

LOL That'd be nice. It must have different certification since it's not being built by Honda hence how it can be sold here. We should know all we need to in another 5 days when Spoon does their press release. I'm trying hard not to be excited

Perfection... absolute perfection. Thats what I am looking for. Clean R with subtle tweaking from spoon.

Hey now! We're only allowed to post pornography in the off topic section:biggrin:

OH sorry! new to these forums

I am at the point where I am too excited not to think about it. I cant hop onto my computer without searching more.

nice video

-personally not feeling the yellow plenum cover and valver covers (although that is traditional spoon color) also the plenum doesn't have the nsx r cover.

-the steering wheel is close to type r but is thicker then normal.

-the carpet is incorrect and not sure about the seat material (it doesn't look the same as normal na2 type r recaros) but are they maybe using na1? material)

-not feeling the nsx r gt side vents or front chin spoiler but that is just me.

Overall very impressive and love the real gauges, engine cover, etc.

thanks for sharing.

While I do like the valve covers I hear ya on the GT aero add ons. The seat covers and carpet are the same as in my NSX-R book with the video quality what it is it's tough to be certain though.

The gear shift knob is what sticks out to me I guess maybe someone pulled the boot down.

I know all the components come from Honda but I'm wondering if some items that Honda no longer had needed to be outsouced.

Hopefully the Spoon announcement on the car will be released soon.

well... if the material is the same, and that Spoon NSX on the video is a LHD...how can one get that carpet? i want a red carpet as close to the OEM NA2 NSX-R as i can.

Spoon. Spoon is supposed to announce prices for conversion and I believe that you can get individual parts as well.

Here are pictures of na2 R seats.

the outside material is a hi tech mesh material (like the material of the factory nsx-r shift boot). the inside material (up the center of the seat is perferated alcantara.)

Well it's either lighting or Honda made more than one style set because in the NSX-R catalog the seats look like they do in the vid. I think it maybe the difference of using and not using a high def camera. Sweet pics!

Looks like more people will be able to have access to these items now thanks to Spoon. Plus it will be great to have actual 02+ coupes in the States:biggrin:

Hey are these Anils seats?

Wingz
those are my seats. The reason i was able to put the list ogether at the begininning of this thread is because i bought most of the items on it one at a time. We call it building an na2 white R the hard way. And i was not totally true to the formula.. for example i went with brembo billet gtr brakes, volk ce28 hipad gunmetal wheels, ARC titanium exhaust etc.

Also, there was only one fabric for na2 R seats, it did come in two color choices for the R (either red or black) NSX1 has them in black and they are better in black in my opinion. the reason my pics might look different to to you is these are really close up shots to show you what the fabric really looks like. (you can't see the detail in the catalogs, i was plesantly surprised when i took them out of the box the first time and saw the detail. the type s seats had may more color choices.
