Tracks Great for Road Trips:
* Bad to the Bone (George Thorogood)
* "Chatterbox" (from the game GTA3)
* Hey Girl Hey Boy (The Chemical Brothers)
* Almost any album from the 1970's will keep you awake & screaming.
The new Matrix Reloaded Soundtrack is probably not recommended if you're freeway driving...
Honest suggestion: get some classical music from Romantic Era (eg. Tchaikovsky) which is dramatic & stuff... will keep you relaxed & alert but without falling asleep like Bach's music.

I think I may disagree a bit about the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack. I think it'd be a great road trip CD. Personally, I really like compilation/sountrack CDs for road trips, because they provide a lot of variety on one disc.
A couple of good road trip sountracks are-
Tomb Raider- Lots of great electronic tunes
Pulp Fiction- A classic
Natural Born Killers- Runs the gamut, Trent Reznor masterpiece
Lost Highway- All's I can say is.....Rammstein!
Repo Man- Best soundtrack I own, period.
The first Matrix sountrack is good, too, and I'd recommend the Reloaded soundtrack as well
Anyway, if I'm driving long distances, I'd mix at least a couple of new CDs in the mix with the tried and true ol' favorites.
I'm also pretty eclectic in my musical tastes, but I try to have upbeat CDs in my car when I'm driving.

Sir Mix A Lot - "Baby Got Back" (though it's different type of back..heh)
I like the new Evanescense CD. Dream Theater is good if you like Progressive Heavy Rock thing with long ass CDs. Also Jazz makes good driving music...Coltrane "Blue Train" is nice....so are Joshua Redman, McCoy Tyner, The Marsailis family etc etc etc.

1) an agent might jump on the frontend - crushing it.
2) you be involved in a spectacular multi-car pile up.
3) an agent might assume control of your body.
4) more realistically, u might get a speeding ticket from being so psyched up from the music.

anything by rob d is great to cruise with, (d is for dougan) its great and emotional, makes you want to speed. not that i would do that.
