With 2003 on the way out, how much do you estimate that you spent on your NSX this year? This includes the costs for maintenance, service, modifications, and upgrades.

Also, what did you spend it on?

Service Maintainance:

12.33 x 5 (OEM acura oil filters)
100.00ish for the oil for all those changes
365.00 for a new window motor (drv side)
255 x 2 (for 2 265x35-18 yokos, rear)

Automatic To Manual Conversion:

1100.00 for 2 5spd trannys (45k & 50k)
250.00 for a 5sp ecu
20.00 for a 5sp TCS ECU
1000.00ish for OEM pedals, shifter assmbly, lines clutch master and slave, all nuts brackets and bolts necessary new from dealer.
50.00 for shift boot and plate
50.00 for shift knob
400.00 for shift cables & center axel, and drivers axel
450.00 for 2 motor mounts, and a set of flywheel bolts
110 for skunk2/field ecu jumper harness

Performance

200 in materials to build turbo manifold
315 for wideband a/f guage
1800 for JIC FLTA-2's coil overs
turbo/wastage/etc bits from previous years purchase

Looks

600 for wings west body kit
600 to paint it

Driving it 11,000 miles the past 2 years = PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!

Besides the fact that I purchased my X this year, I spent:

15,000 CT SC, intake, headers, exhaust
2,200 CT street/race clutch
285 Dali sway bars
350 Dali harness bar
225 Dali 5-point harness (never received)
425 Harness purchased through Harder Performance locally
540 OEM seat modification for 5th point of harness

After my crack-up:

18,000 in body work

I spend about USD 2K for timing belt services plus some other engine parts replacement. About USD 2K for tyres replacement (weather here is hot throughout the year). USD 500 for oil services. About USD 25K for bodykits, coilovers and new wheels.

Baaaad question! I started counting a bit and came over 10,000 Euros - then horror stopped me....

Rear P-Car Brembo brakes, custom made exhaust, custom made race clutch, custom made strut bars, bodywork and painting after a little accident in Magny-Cours, Type R carbon rear spoiler, some little things I already forgot plus maintainance after all these track days - what the hell did I do???!!!

(I'm pretty sure it will go on like that in 2004 - addicted to the go fast crack pipe, thank you very much, Doug, for bringing me on this road to hell!)

edit: Did I mention 3 sets of race slicks 1,000 Euros each? Okay - I have to stop to start weaping...

Oh man! I didn't realize until just now.
CTSC
Volk LE37s
Comptech headers
custom intake
Nitto 555s
Sways
Type R gears/R&P
HID headlights
HID foglights
Bilsteins
OEM CD changer
Soon custom stainless exhaust

Total miles: ~1700
Track miles: 302 (does not include 650 track miles in my other car)

Transmission service: $1840 (a bargain; amount includes some other small service items, e.g. replacing cracked rotors, re-adjusting cooling ducts, replacing axle nut, etc)
Parts (Rotors and tires): $800
Insurance: $450
Other (Gas, oil change, tire mounting, license fees): $600

P.S. I hope that those who paid $10-18K after hitting things were reimbursed by their insurance companies...

About $70 in oil changes (filters and oil)

$30 to change tranny fluid back to Honda MTF

$700 for new climate control circuit board

$975 for new tires

All work (except for tire mounting/balancing) accomplished by me = priceless!

Next year will be:

Change timing belt (Larry B. get ready for parts order)
Change all hoses (Larry B. get ready for parts order)
All work to be done by me ;)

I sold it and bought a 2003 Z06 and pocketed the difference (about $20,000). Took the difference and invested in GAS and am earning a dividend of about 5.5%. My insurance cost on the Z06 is about $350.00 less per year. So I am saving money and smiling every time I drive the Z06 without the chronic back pain caused by the NSX seats.

Never heard of the NSX CAUSING chronic back pain. I would assume that there is something else in your life that CAUSED the back pain. (previous injury, bad disc, too much weight, not enough or incorrect exercises) There are many ways to injure your back, but sitting in an NSX seat isn't one of them.

Have fun driving your vette!

Even with only two adjustments, the NSX seats are by far the best stock seats of any car I have ridden in. And that includes the Z06.

hlweyl: I know this is a somewhat different issue, but you once said (in another thread) that you'd love to have an adjustable headrest, and that your neck was sore after long drives. I'm curious to know whether you found any way around the problem.

I had the same complaint; my neck would get sore on any drive longer than about a half hour. My solution was to pull the headrest out and turn it 180 degrees. It looks a little silly that way but my neck feels much better. I wouldn't call it "chronic back pain", but I was unhappy with the NSX seat until I turned the headrest around.

I liked the adjustable headrest angle on my '85 MR2 (before someone stole the seats out of that car).

Everyone's different, someone else may not like a seat that I do, and vice-versa. I find the NSX seat's bolsters to be too narrow at my shoulders, but that isn't causing me pain like the headrest had been.

I guess I just got used to the seating position because it does not seem to bother my neck anymore. However, I would still like to have more adjustments on the seat. I think if I were taking a trip in the car, I still would probably bring a little travel pillow for my neck.

We are all built differently. But I'd swear that the engineers at Honda used my body (back and butt) to design the seats in the NSX. To me, they are the most comfortable seats to sit in - ANY seat. I drove to Las Vegas some months ago and the seven hours didn't phase me in the least.

Sorry to hear about your discomfort in the X seats. I truly hope you are happy with the Z06. I looked at Vettes (C5) before deciding on the X. I really liked the C5, but I liked the X better. Anyway, we are all not created equal (thank goodness for that - what a boring world this would be) so as long as you are happy, that is all that counts. :)

Sorry Lud for getting off topic.

NO TKTS,

I've read that you have Tein-RE on your car. I'm getting one also myself. How is the ride?
