Wow. I noticed the difference INSTANTLY. The tranny feels amazing. I will keep doing updates once a month to see how it does.

Do you need to drain the old fluid first or can you just add it in?

I also put these fluid into my 93 civic that has synchro problem.
The tranny does indeed felt smoother, but still grin gears at high RPM, my civic's tranny is pretty beat up tho.

My tranny never grinded or anything. It just felt a little notchy. Now it feels really smooth. I put it in first and I was like

Netviper...see what I'm talking about !?!? ;)

Thank you very much...thank you very much :bows: :D :D

Pardon my ignorance..

Please provide a link for more info on this tranny juice for us common folk. thx in advance

Its called a number of different things but the one I used was Penzoil SynchroMesh Friction Modified. Us DSM guys swear by it with our shitty tranny's. You can get it at allmost any car parts store, but you should ask for it by name b/c its usually back behind the counter.

5.99/qt at Autozone.

Best mod I ever did to my old beat up car!

Anybody else to testify ???

Any NSXr's running this stuff... please report your opinions/results. So this stuff replaces the regular engine oil commonly used in NSX tranny's?

basically yea. I dont own an NSX but I know that some people in the DSM community tried running more expensive oils like Redline, etc. But it resulted in premature wear of the synchros. People have been using Friction modified over there for years and posting nothing but rave reviews every... single... time.

it sounds like a mod I've got to try...

what other names is this oil also labelled as ??

BG Synchroshift, GM Synchromesh, Penzoil Synchromesh

Just look for the "friction modified" version of any of the above. The contents are IDENTICLE.

Did you use 100% friction modified, or mix it with transmission fluid?

I did 2 QT of FM and 1 QT of regular Gm syncromesh.

I'm going to use NetSnake's mixture above on the track car and will report how it works for us track folk. Currently, I have Redline MT90 and it grinds when it's cold but fine when it's warm.

Keep us updated NetSnake!:p

The Honda TF is not regular motor oil. I was told that it is formulated with special additives just for the Honda cars and it suppose to improve the shifting. I wonder if it contains similar stuffs as the this modifiers...

Here is another thread with info!

Heres the thread from July 19/2004 that started this topic off again.

Good info here and a link to how to change that fluid!
NSXTASY_MD used ONE quart of the regular GM sychromesh fluid (cylindrical container) and TWO bottles of the GM sychromesh "friction modified" fluid (motor oil looking container)....our trannies take exactly 3 containers (or quarts) total.
If doing mine this week, hopefully!

Is there any benefits using this fluid vs. the Honda TF if the trans. is shifting fine? Does it protect the trans. as well as the Honda TF?

Acura Stocks It

Just phoned Westside Acura here in Edmonton. The parts counter stocks the GM sychromesh fluid at a dollar cheaper than the GM guys down the street from me.
He says they use it in all the Acura line up!
They don't use the Friction Modified, he didn't know about it and was interested. He is going to bring me in 2 litres for tomorrow at cost. Will talk to the service manager and the NSX specialist there tomorrow about the whole thing!

Does anybody have any tests using this oil. I would just prefer some objective data, instead of personal opinions.

Aside from the higher price of the friction modified version, was there any other reason to use a 2qt/1qt mix as opposed to just 3qts of the friction modified version?

Review my original thread on this topic [ http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/show...iction+modified ] ...I made a mention as to why *I* did it. But you should be OK with full FM.

And "ffffanman"

...don't let the counter people at your local GM dealership dictate what you put in your tranny. News flash, very few counter people who work in these places know what the "Friction Modified" version is...becuase its very rare and was only produced for one or two vehicles in the entire GM line up....the exact GM the part # was in the original thread you gave me on honda-tech.com, have the moron at the counter run in thru the computer ONLY THEN will he see it and know what to bring you....remember, the FM is the good stuff, I would highly recommend doing at least ONE bottle of it along with the regular sychromesh fluid. (I did TWO)
