Lamborghini Gallardo Insights

Financing has a total cost associated with it. If you have the cash to buy the asset, you weight that cost against the time value of money and against the loss of having access to liquid funds and make your decision.

The entirety of this post is one of the best I've ever seen on this or any internet forum. Debt is not an inherently bad thing. Also, money is fungible. Three months ago I thought it'd be a long time (maybe a year or two) before I'd be able to consider an NSX, loans on cars that old being in the 10% range. But by doing some reshuffling and shifting some funding sources around, I came up with enough to get an NSX, and the effective rate of interest on the additional debt is around 3% for 3 years. At that rate versus the time cost of money, it's a severe no brainer to just go get the NSX if that's what you want... and I do.

04 was the first MY and with any car usually has some bugs, some cars will be great some may not.

The nose lift is just a super convenient option that started in 05. Car sits low, and lol I would lower it still, its a godsend to lift the nose on driveways and everything else you might need it for.

From what owners and dealers tell me Less issues with 05 and so on, but again if you are in the market buy the latest car you can afford.

The nose lift would be nice. Perhaps SoS can make me something if I end up with an '04...

Also, I think I'll be fine without the nose lift option. The NSX is already slammed with a very fragile CF lip, and I've managed just fine.[/QUOTE]

No, I am afraid you're wrong onthis one. My 04's nose was badly damaged by repeated scraping and I was dismayed to see the cracks of what looked like fiberglass, certanly not urethane, to say nothing abour repair/respray of the bumper !! On the other hand, the front lift on my 06 was a Godsent; best upgrade in my opinion.

There is an 06 yellow on www.exotics.com for $89k with 30k miles the better wheels an the glass engine cover. Roy is straight with his cars and will give you the right scoop with all records available. PM me if you need any advice.

No porn site; welcome to the lambo world ! Roy Cats is known in the lambo community as a real car mover with some good deals some of the time. He buys them right and sells them right. He knows his Lambos and seems to have a good reputation and feedback from ownners. I never bought a Lambo from him so I am only reporting what I heard in the last 5 years or so. Do your due diligence before you buy a used italian. You can PMme when you get serious about one; I've owned two of them so far and can hopefully help.

Dude, that looks like a porn site.

LOL. I have to agree with Dan. That web site looks like where you go to get someone to ride in the passenger seat after you get your Lambo.

Ah yeah, the above IS a porn site and was quite an eye opener in this house when we went to that website. I think that poster has to be referring to Roy Cats in Washington state. http://www.catsexotics.com Roy is a Lamborghini guy and indeed has an excellent reputation.

This should be the correct link to the 2006 Gallardo: http://www.catsexotics.com/web/1317/vehicle/645584/2006-Lamborghini-Gallardo-

Here's your 2004 Gallardo 6-speed with new clutch, asking $86,900.

Dude. Thanks! Not my #1 choice in color, but who cares!!!
Anyone in Dallas willing to take a first hand look at this car? I can send you an Amazon gift card or something for your time.
If I fancied an early-model Gallardo, that would be what I'd want (ie. black on dark-gray, 6-spd M.T., initial depreciation sorted, etc'). Gallardo-wise, I'm keen towards the '08 Gallardo Superleggera (offered in mid '07), though which presumably come at a notable premium even in the resale-market (if they even surface).

I thought all Gallardo models came w/ GPS/nav' standard?

Locally, there is an owner of an '07 Gallardo "Nera" edition (very limited #'s offered) who has had it on-&-off the market over the past year. If I'm not mistaken, the asking-price for it was relatively alluring, considering the original MSRP & it's rarity/exclusivity.

Thank God for the NSX...it allows us peasants to own an exotic:biggrin:

You would be very surprised how cheap it is to insure and own a modern Ferrari in the first couple of years of ownership (not including the purchase price of course). The required maintenance that has to happen every 3 to 4 years can absolutely take the wind out of you though.

how much does that 3-4 year maintenance run?

He's been living this way for about 7 years now and has about a mil in cash and a couple mil in his 401k.

That's not possible. There is an annual limit to how much you can pay into a 401K plan. Depending on the year it ranges anywhere from around $13K to around $16K or so. So unless he's a hundred years old, or he's gotten triple digit rate of return on his 401K investments (both of which I seriously doubt), there is no way he could have a couple of million in 401K investments. I think you meant to say he has a couple million in his retirement funds (some of which is comprised of his 401K investments, among many others like IRAs, mutual funds, stocks, etc.)

I pulled into the gas station Sunday night and there was a silver Gallardo. He revved the Gallardo and smiled, I revved the X and smiled back. My car actually sounded much better. I was flabbergasted. I was expecting to be embarrassed by the howl of an exotic. It just wasn't the case. Of course I've got the GT-One F1 5.1 and no cats..... but still... for the price... I'd expect more.

Then a 19 year old runs out with his camera phone while I'm filling the NSX and says "oh my god, I hate you... this is my dream car.". I said "didn't you just see the silver Gallardo that was here?". His response? "Yeah, but THIS is my dream car".

I smiled and thought to myself..... yeah... you know what? It's mine too.
