Michigan check-in & spotting by blodi pt.2

Perry, that sure looks like GingerMan, which of course does have a new layout this year

OK Neal, more details please on your Ferrari Club track days!

Brian

Doh! Thought one thing and typed another:biggrin:

Looks like fun Neal! I'm itching to get my car out to the track this year, once I feel its ready.
I did the F-Chat drive on Saturday, great weather. Relatively small turnout, but nice drive and great people.

We had a steel plate pistol shoot (FUN!) in Lapeer, or would have joined the FOC drive Saturday as well.
We also hit Baker's yesterday, in the S2000.

Hey PERRY! Happy Birthday! Man, you're gettin' old...

Sounds like everyone enjoyed a good weekend.

Gingerman Raceway weekend was fantastic: the people were the best, the cars also. Continental Autosports (Hinsdale, IL) crew was there in support of the various F Cars. On Saturday evening they invited all to a house party at a large home near the beach in South Haven, MI, that they rented for the weekend.

I was sure glad the Continental crew was there. Although I had teched my car prior to departure (brakes O K with front pads at ~ 50%) about 2/3rds of the way through Saturday's sessions (three run groups, 30 minute sessions, I was in white/beginner's group w/coach) my rear brake pads were shot. The Continental guys installed my spare pads (I took new Project Mu "street" pads, front and rear, with me just in case) on the rears Sunday morning and got me back out onto the track. Thank you, Continental Autosports!

I had last visited Gingerman in May, 2006, with the NSXCA "Spring Fling" outing - one day (and had John Vasos as my coach - excellent guy and coach) and ninety track miles. I really enjoyed the new turn 10 and the longer course. Having said that, I was happy to be warned about turn ten in the morning driver's meeting! You crest a small rise and face a sharp right, into the lengthened straightaway, on a "tilted" surface. And you DON'T want to miss that turn

Had a wonderful weekend and brought her home in one piece. Removed some serious rubber from the Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star-Specs, which ran real nicely on the track. My coach, Harris (Lansing, MI, 2003 BMW M3) was super and so were the two sessions I rode along with him - he is a machine on the track!

Thanks to my support person also...

CIR PCA reverted back to long sleeve requirement this weekend, and we weren't real happy about that. We had a discussion about whether there has actually ever been a fire at a PCA HPDE event and my response was "no, because no one ever brings a Ferrari."

So.... did any of the Ferrari's catch fire this weekend?

Tongue in cheek funny . . . . nope, they all behaved and if I am any judge, ran quite well. The F333 was awesome to listen to - actually, all of them were. I got a real nice ride in an F430 F1.
And yes Jim, it was warm and humid with long sleeve cotton shirt and Levis on. We departed the track yesterday 415 p before a line of heavy showers swept through.
4,000 posts for the ole Captain, huh? Congrats! If you are around DTW this week pls pm me your cell #. Also, we have a standing NSX intel meeting 5 PM each Weds not too far from Metro - could even offer taxi service if you have no vehicle up here.

It was nice to see you again, Neal. Ben and I had a fantastic day and he was thrilled to have another NSX there to represent! Ok, I was too. Definitely bringing a car down next year, seems like a great meet.

Thanks, Chris, ditto. Nice surprise to see a/your Brooklands Green NSX rolling in there - i knew it had to be you!

It was a very exciting, almost "premier" weekend. Busy, too.

Any chance you and/or Cody will appear at the St. Ignace Car Show Sat, June 25th?

Ok, that is an incredible picture, just about sums it up.

I will try and get him to go to the St. Ignace show, but imports like ours aren't always too welcome at that one. Perhaps times have changed.

Oh my god, that Illinois event looks awesome!! Lots of fantastic cars there!

Chris
Chris, that was actually at GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, MI......but you're right, lots of tasty Chicago-area hardware frequent the place!

Brian

SURE haven't been able to drive this weekend due to incessant/everyday rain and storms, but did put the BBS RG-R's on to the LBBP for the first time. I like them on the LBBP much more than on the Imola!

Love the wheels.

Cars and Coffee at Kart 2 Kart this Saturday if anyone is interested, if it doesn't rain I plan on heading there, also Autozone on Woodward on the way.

Sunday looks to be nice for Bakers for sure....think I'll try for that too.

The weather is actually looking like it might cooperate this weekend

We'll be at Waterford Hills for Race #2, so if you feel like including a stop there in all of your running around that would be cool.

I'm in Toronto this Saturday for a rendezvous with some of our Cdn NSX compatriots -- see thread on Canadian board. I'm tired of Bakers -- its the same old thing with the same "old" crowd every Sunday. Assuming weather cooperates I intend to go to Toledo Cars/Coffee w/Neal on Sunday June 12. Any chance we get a bunch of MI NSXs to drive down there for arrival around 9 a.m.?

Best,
Jeff

I haven't been to Bakers this year, so figured I'll check it out.
I think I'd be down for a run to Toledo!

Yea, Baker's Sunday sounds like a hit if weather cooperates.
Toledo CNC on Sunday, June 12th, also.

Meanwhile, I happened to hit Motor City Casino's website to see if they were going to sponsor their version of "Cars and Coffee" again this summer:

Yep, June 11th, July 9th, and August 13th. Be sure to check out the slideshow on that page for pics of ExCFive (and his lovely)!

Love to attend but working this weekend. Supercars Saturday in Chicago was interesting but really a BMW fest. Tesla sponsored the event and even though kinda cool, not sure that I could spend 145K on a Tesla when the R8 Cab was only 175K. Neal, It was calling you - Red on black.

St. Ignace has certainly changed over the years. It is still predominantly a classic muscle show, but last year there were a handful of imports on display. I am certain any NSX would be a welcome addition.

And I suggest stopping by Bay Harbor on the way up for their Concours which is the same day. It's a bit out of the way, but the back roads from Bay Harbor up to the bridge are very much worth the excursion.

Showed the Imola NSX last year at St Ignace. It was VERY WELL received. Just sent in my registration for this year's show (Sat. June 25th) and may show the LBBP this time....
You are certainly correct, though, the show is all about classic muscle.
Maybe see you/meet you there?

So Bay Harbor is on this year?

FWIW, Brian and I will be attending Toledo Cars and Coffee tomorrow morning in our S2000. Igo4blue....please tell me that you will be attending as well..........representin' the female NSX contingent? Just say yes.

Also, Brian drove the S2000 to the Waterford PDX event and it got powerwashed on the way home (7 year old SO-2's in the wet = fun :)
